My friends’ brush purchases

by Sonia G.

When you deeply love make up brushes, or shall I say “extreme” and rare makeup brushes, you may be tempted to explore new brands and order intriguing new brushes but the pictures on the websites are not always very helpful.
Thanks to my sweet friends and followers who are willing to share their pictures with us we can have a closer look at more rare and tempting makeup brushes.

These pictures have been sent to me and are here just to help you in your research, I will add them gradually when I receive them.

Enjoy 🙂

Bea

I invite you to watch Bea’s youtube video, such a beautiful collection of brushes !

I ordered the red 1. Another must have. Love using this to set my foundation with loose and pressed powder. No shedding issue at all. So I can switch my MK2 with this 1.
My friend ordered the Koyudo H008, so I’ll be able to compare those by next week. But based on the dimensions its exact the same 1 as the Koyudo H008.
This 1 is such a fluffy unbelievable soft, densed (not too densed) and everything I hoped for. Could easily be the Koyudo FuPa01 little sister with white goat hair! The site doesnt mention what type of goat hair its made of but I wont be surprised if its baby goat hair. I’ve been using this with my liquid foundation, loose powder and MAC MSFs. Flawless clean results with all of them! So def a winner!!! It shed a bit when I used it for the 2nd time but none anymore since then.
Exact the same hair as the Koyudo FuPa02!! Mine is little bit yellowish than the Koyudo.
Same fluffiness and density, dimensions. Def a winner and great to add to my FuPa collection.
Perfect contour brush for me!! Its made of gray squirrel, but I think there is some soft goat hair too. Top of the brush is amazingly soft and its densed enough to pick up my powder contour products!
Not fluffy as the Chikuhodo Z series but certainly amazingly soft!! I even poked my eyelids with it to test the softness. And it didn’t hurt at all

Photo Description

01: Although my handles are in the shorter length, you can see that they have a similar aesthetic with the numbering, material description and then the brand. The #8 is definitely the runt of the bunch 🙂 #11 slots in just beautifully in terms of size between the two Shu.
02: You can see that the Shu brushes are more densely packed. The #8 looks tiny in comparison! It also appears to come up to a little point.
03: Sorry for the blurriness but you can see here that the Takeda is not as thick as the Shu brushes. Although the #11 is longer and slightly wider than the #10, it is not as densely packed or thick.
04: Side view of the Shu #10, Takeda #11 and Shu #12. You see how the Takeda is less thick where the hair is pinched by the ferrule and I think this is the essential difference between the two brands. I don’t think it will affect the performance of the Takeda at all, as the quality of both brands are equally superb, the hair quality seems almost identical, and some people might even prefer the slightly floppier, softer Takeda because of this.

The Eihodo!

I’m quite devastated by the fact that I’m currently on a brush ban (except for maybe like…a rounded contour) because my bank account is looking depressing and I haven’t saved as much this summer as I wanted because of all these brush purchases!

But arghhh, these brushes are so tempting. I don’t know how I can resist!

@Sonia….yipp, the Brush Porn Queen of the Internet 😉

Well actually Neo pointed it out to me… so blame her 😛

And I agree, brush porn and addicted to S.M.U.T? My type of addiction!

Hmm, I’m not sure how that would sound taken out of context….

Bea 15 February, 2013 - 1:13 pm

Lol Bonnie! We are addicted to S.M.U.T. 🙂 🙂

Melissa 11 February, 2013 - 8:26 pm

LOL…I just Googled ‘brush addiction’ and the crippiest results appeared, so u dont want yr blog to be related to any of those 🙂

Btw, has any of u seen part of Wayne’s brush collection:
http://youtu.be/TWy1bFeyHoU

I looooove seeing all the fluffyness altogether!! Makes me want to bury my face in those cheek/face brushes 🙂 🙂

Brush recommendation pls: Im looking for a Kolinsky brush, which is soft enough to use as a bigger concealer brush to make my eyebags dissapear 🙂
Currently using the Chikuhodo Artist 10-2, but find that still too scratchy!

Thinking of getting the Chikuhodo Artist 12-3 for that purpose. Has anyone has this brush? Or should I just splurge on the Shu 12?
Decisions….decisions…. 🙂 🙂 TIA brush bunnies 🙂

Reply
Carlyn 11 February, 2013 - 11:26 pm

The Shu 12 is not scratchy at all! I’ve stabbed my eyelids from every direction with that thing and all I feel is softness, the tips are not sharp at all. I love that brush. I haven’t tried it with concealer though, happily I don’t have much in the way of bags and dark circles. You should get it, I think it’s still on Amazon for $80.

I have this one
http://www.hakuhodousa.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=13&products_id=414
I like it but it’s not kolinsky, firm and soft to make a wonderful job.
I don’t use the Shu 12 for concealer but you could, it’s really soft and pleasant to use.
or this one :
http://sweetmakeuptemptations.files.wordpress.com/2013/01/g537s.jpg
only available on the Hakuhodo japanese website (not international) but maybe too soft… I really love it for precision and for soft application, my concealer products are very thin so it’s not a problem.
I will check my kolinsky brushes tonight and will let you know which one is the softest 🙂

Reply
Melissa 12 February, 2013 - 1:56 pm

Carlyn, thank you!!! I can see you poking yr eyes with the Shu 12…I always do that too to test the softness of eye brushes 🙂 Im planning to get the Shu 12 anyway, so its in the pocket!

Sonia, that be awesome!! I just love the firmness, yet softness of Kolinsky bristles. Those brushes are just soooo versatile. I love using the Chikuhodo Artist 10-2 for my paint pots too.

Thank you so much Ladies……..

Sorry that I’m not much help with the concealer brushes, but I try to use a little as possible & when I do , I apply it with my fingers so that the warmth helps it meld into the skin. After trying what seems to have been EVERY concealer on the market, I have come to the conclusion that concealer only works on skin without wrinkles. High end, low end, they all settle in there sooner or later and make me look older than ever which is neither a look nor a feeling to aim for.
The best thing to do is to get a brown paper packet, cut holes for eyes, nose & mouth, pop it over your head & then everything is nicely concealed 😀

Reply
Melissa 12 February, 2013 - 8:47 pm

hahaha……..Buggsiebee! Thats an excellent and certainly MUCH cheaper option!!! so I’ll def keep that in mind!!! I’m using mask sheets weekly, same effect plus its great for yr skin, so thats another option too 🙂

I’ve been using the Shu Point Cealer concealer, which I bought in Indonesia last year and Im loving it! it makes my bags dissapear without creasing into fine lines. However, those are not being sold in US or here in Europe 🙁 So I better stock up when Im back in Asia again this year!

Anyway, its not the eye bags only that Im trying to conceal, but I also have the so called “syringoma” right under my eyes. It irritates me soooo much!!! If u Google it you’ll see what I mean. The only way I can get rid of those is by laser treatments. And I’m just so scared that it’ll leave ugly permanent scar under my eyes, which would be a lot worse and even harder to conceal!! Plus its so expensive, abt 350 Euros/treatment and you need at least 2 laser treatments to achieve the best result. I can get A LOT of beautiful brushes for that!!! Another down side would be there is still a chance that it’ll come back again. Its in my genes (thanks Mom!)…
Anybody else having same problem?

Anyway, thats why Im hunting the perfect Kolinsky e/s brush!

Buggsiebee 13 February, 2013 - 6:54 am

I looked up “syringoma” and I understand that it irritates you. I wonder whether concealer will help much though? I have what started off as an age spot under my eye & which now has developed into a raised brown mark which the dermatologist told me is an age wart!! ….I can hardly bear to say it…..it makes me feel like I’m turning in to an old witch!!
Anyway, trying to conceal it is not a posiblilty because the concealer just ends up sitting around it, but not on top of it. I’ve wanted to have it removed for a while now, but it will leave my under eye area and possible even my eye red for about a month which is not good for work. I need to decide soon though, because they only do this small op in the months where ones face doesn’t get sun which would cause scarring.
The problems with ageing!!!

Sweet Make Up Temptations 12 February, 2013 - 9:40 pm

😀 😀 😀 that’s an idea…
but my Burberry doesn’t do that to me at all … I guess you have already tried it ?
I don’t wear concealer on a daily basis but this Burberry doesn’t require much effort and doesn’t dry out my skin, so far so good…

Buggsiebee 13 February, 2013 - 6:56 am

I have the Burberry too & it settles in my wrinkles exactly as the others do. You’re quite a few years younger & less wrinkly under your eyes than I am, so I can imagine that it still works for you.

212kiki 13 February, 2013 - 7:41 am

I’m young 😉 but I have some wrinkles under my eyes and for my dark blue undereyearea i’m using mineral foundation. When I use liquid foundation that works with mineral foundation for me too. It goes a bit into the deep undereyelid wrinkle but after i’ve removed it its better than all liquid concealers I’ve tried before….

I emailed the Japan C pic from that website to Tommy. I told her “the biggest round brush sitting on the pedestal to the right” and I even marked it on the pic lol. The smaller one sitting below the UFO brush is in my Takeda catalogue. Tommy said she looked for the UFO brush on the Takeda site but could not find it so she has emailed them to send her a new catalogue. I wonder if they still have it? I really don’t know what one would use it for but I want it anyway! 🙂 I told her several of us are interested in it.

Hahaha Melissa, you are sooooooooooooo efficient 😉 What GREAT news!!
If Takeda will send it to the shop then I will definitely ask Tommy to collect it for me, but I have no idea which shop is close to where she lives or if she is even prepared to collect. I will need ask her first if it’s ok.
OMG, I can’t believe it 😀
You’re a BRILLIANT brush hunter!
If it makes you feel any better ( which it won’t ), you’re not alone with the under eye bags 😉

Melissa 12 February, 2013 - 1:49 pm

Hahaha….see there is ALWAYS a way to get your brushes 🙂
If I understood him correctly there is only 1 shop in Tokio, which is:
Shop at Shinjuku Takashimaya 1F

Where does Tommy live? in Tokio? Yes, contact Tommy first and see if its possible for her to get it for you! If so, let me know. Meantime I asked Takeda if its possible to have somebody in Japan pay for the brushes by wire transfer and maybe it would be possible to have it sent to the Japan home address. Well, you never know right!

Glad to hear that I’m not the only 1 with this horrible under eye bags 🙂 so thanks, that DID cheer me up a bit 🙂

Buggsiebee 12 February, 2013 - 2:37 pm

Hi Melissa:)
I immediately contacted Tommy this morning & she said that she is sometimes in stores stocking Takeda. I sent her a pic of the brush so that she knows what she is looking for. Perhaps I’ll get lucky & she’ll find one hiding in one of the stores 🙂
I cannot imagine that i will be so lucky that she lives close to the Tokio store though.
If Takeda were willing to send the brushes to her home address it would be easiest. We’ll just have to wait & see.
Thanks so much for all your help. Crazy brush lady 😀
I also REALLY appreciate your kind offer to collect the brush for me when you are there in September, but I am sure that your luggage allowance will be FULL by the time you have finished doing your own shopping, so I really won’t burden you with any extra stuff.
SUPER sweet of you to offer though!!

Melissa 12 February, 2013 - 8:01 pm

Ooooooo……thats GREAT news!!! Keep me posted 🙂
I’ll let u know again soon once Takeda gets back to me!

Yes of course I would be very happy to help u out when able! In fact I wouldnt be able to spend that much on brushes anyway, as much as I want to! So it would be great to shop for somebody else like Im spending all that for myself 🙂
And I would fit at least 100 brushes in my suitcase cause Im planning to travel verrrrry light in order to be able to go shopping in Asia! And it wont be clothes or shoes anyway. So I can fit soooo many brushes and make up in it 🙂 or I can ship part of it upfront so I can buy even more 🙂
So dont worry abt my luggage. I’ll make sure every single brush comes home with me LOL……

Reply
Buggsiebee 13 February, 2013 - 6:41 am

If we could afford to buy every brush we wanted when in Japan, then forget the little suitcase, we would need a cargo ship to carry them home!!
How long will you be in Japan? Lucky you!!
Here comes some more good news………
Tommy goes past the Tokio Takeda store once a week!! Please ask Takeda to send the brush there if they have it available. If they ONLY have the complete set I would take it, but if I can get the brushes separately, then I would like these two :-

フェイス&チーク両用サイズ
製品番号: No.P-19EX FG 税込 7,350 円

チークブラシ
製品番号: No.P-16EX FG 税込 5,250 円

http://takeda-brush.com/ProductData/limitedextra.html

I would ALSO love:-

No.AS15FG(画像左) 税込3,675円 and

No.AS12FG(画像右) 税込2,940円

They look interesting. Amongst other things, they can be used for concealer application:)

I figure that if they are going to make the effort to send the brushes to that store, then i might as while up the order a bit. Whether Tommy collects one or four brushes won’t make a difference to her, I don’t think.

Sorry to ask you to do all this for me Melissa 🙁

Reply
Melissa 13 February, 2013 - 7:46 am

Buggsiebee!!!! I have GREAT NEWS…See below!!!!
Sooooo…..just order everything you want now 🙂 🙂 🙂
Supposed Tommy can call the Takeda headquarter and tell them about it right?

“Thank you for reply.
We need 1-2weeks to finish brushes.

We just do not have international money transfer method,
So if your friend would pay for the brush by bank transfer,
We can send Brushes for you at Netherlands.
Sending fee is about around 2000 Yen (by EMS)

It is also possible to send to your friend.
Its Sending fee is 500 Yen.”

Melissa 13 February, 2013 - 8:10 am

I also ask him about the bank details etc. think it would cheaper for u to have it all delivered to Tommy’s home add. This way she doesnt have to go to the store.

Anyway, let me know if u want some more brushes and I’ll send him your wish list! I def want a couple of the Takeda too, but I can wait until September and get them myself anyway.

I’ll be just 4 days in Tokio & 3 days in Kyoto. Wish I could stay longer. But Japan is part of my vaca in Asia, I’ll also go to Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. U can imagine I just CAN’T WAIT!!!!!

Buggsiebee 12 February, 2013 - 7:15 pm

@ Bea…what NP are you wearing in the second pic?
Talk about perfect nails & a perfect manicure!!!

Reply
Bea 12 February, 2013 - 9:35 pm

@Buggsiebee: I’m wearing Koh Funky. A Dutch brand which is probably my fave evah! Are you familiar with the line? 🙂

Reply
Buggsiebee 13 February, 2013 - 8:12 am

I see you have a lovely red – Essie? – on your nails in the newly added pic. Your nails look much healthier than mine which like to peel on the tips. I’ve been going without NP for over a month now to give them a rest. it’s not the NP that’s aproblem, it’s using remover every two days. My mani never lasts longer than that!
I know Koh well & have quite a number of their shades. Back when I bought them they were soooooo difficult to get hold of, so I’m happy to see that they are more readily available now. Do they still each come in their special box? I don’t have any of the latest shades .

Reply
Bea 13 February, 2013 - 6:31 pm

@Buggsie: That’s Zoya Blaze I’m wearing in the Takeda pic lol. It’s gorgeous, you need it! I have think, weak, splitting nails and yes it’s because of the dratted nail polish remover. I have to be religious about moisturizing my nails/cuticles. Koh is still not easy to purchase due to the shipping fees. I am part of a small NP group on FB and we have done group buys to minimize cost but it’s still expensive. Group buys don’t have the cases included because Koh doesn’t want to pay for the weight. We get those big flat cases that hold 18 each instead so I have one of those. I recently plunked down money for a couple of htf Koh shades (Blue Lagoon & Baby Grey). I’ve been wanting to incorporate my two passions – NP & brushes so this is my effort lol. We have to talk NP one of these days! 🙂 🙂 I am so glad we both love these two things!

Reply
Buggsiebee 13 February, 2013 - 7:14 pm

Tell me some htf Koh shades. I didn’t know that they discontinued shades.
Perhaps I have some you would like.
Anyway, I can always help you get your Koh. Mind you, the shipping cost to Germany is already € 6,50. i think the shipping fee outside the EU is €15,-.
That’s not too bad really?

Blue Lagoon and Baby Grey are the htf Koh that I know of. It’s usually the limited edition that some people are after I think. If you order from the Koh online store, it’s a flat 20euros for shipping, so it turns out to about the same I guess. It’s too bad we weren’t in the same continent lol.

212kiki 14 February, 2013 - 7:34 am

Buggsiebee or me can also order from a German page there are both htf polishes available for each 16€.
And shipping from Germany is not so expensive I think…

He can’t? How come? Is it made of hair that can’t be imported? He has brought in Japan only brushes for me in the past, but that was quite a while a go though and it was when I was going to IMATS so he could hand them over to me. Unless he has stopped doing that for customers now 🙁

Reply
Sweet Make Up Temptations 12 February, 2013 - 9:46 pm

yes the hair, that’s what he told me when I asked in December but he also said something about the LE set (the wood this time) and it was actually released on their USA website so maybe they are updating their regulations ?
I am planning on meeting Hakuhodo in Imats London and they asked me if I wanted them to bring me a special brush (because they won’t have all of them there), if you are writing to him ask them if there is a way to bring this brush there and I will pick it up for you.. @ Melissa, I think the best would be for Tommy to wire them the money and for them to ship directly to me in Germany.
The 4 brushes which I listed above are the ones I would really like to have. I am certain that there are many more, but these 4 would be a great start:)
Could you give them my list and ask if it would be possible to get these 4 brushes?
If it is, then I will need their bank details for Tommy & they will need my address which I can ask Tommy to give them when she pays.
OMG this is soooooo exciting!! THANK you so much Melissa 😀
Your Asia trip sounds DIVINE!! I have never been there, so it’s most certainly on my list of places to visit. CC lives in Malaysia!

Hahaha, Melissa……I’m excited for me tooooo 😀
Ooooh….here’s hoping that he’ll come through on all 4 brushes!
Thanks SO much for your help. Without you I would have had NO chance of getting hold of these. Ok, I don’t have them yet, but there is a good chance that I will in the near future so 😀 YAY!!! 😀

I don’t have any A&A brushes yet so I’ll be very interested to see yours & hear your view on them. I’ve also got the Mugen Brand shadow liner and the cheek brush on my radar :-
http://iwata-mokko.jp/?page_id=128
I’ll wait for the Takeda brushes first though. When too many new brushes arrive at once I can’t appreciate them enough.

I have the Tesshyu Face Powder brush and the other Powder, Cheek & Highlight brushes. You chose the very best one 😀
It’s a most beautifully manufactured brush. Perfect!! ….and soft of course 🙂

Reply
Melissa 13 February, 2013 - 3:32 pm

I loooove the handles of the “Deep” collection (somehow that sound weird…….LOL)!!

WOW….u have the Tesshyu face brush?!?! can u pls have Sonia upload the pic of it please? I’m hesitant at first to order it, because I thought it wouldnt be soft enough! Of course the Koyudo Red S is the softest EVER, so nothing will beat that! I’m just hoping it would be denser than the Chikuhodo MK2 but still as soft!

Reply
Buggsiebee 13 February, 2013 - 3:49 pm

I don’t have the MK2 unfortunately, but the Tesshyu is not very dense. I’ll go check through my other face brushes to find a comparable one.
Then I’ll send you a pic. OK?
Sonia, please would you send me Melissa’s email address?

Buggsiebee 13 February, 2013 - 4:35 pm

So you can see that the Tesshyu Face brush & the Tanseido EQ28 have similar density.
In softness it compares well to the Hakuhodu Kokutan Finishing Brush LAG . It feels VERY good on the face. Perhaps the Tesshyu doesn’t look as fluffy as the others in the pics, but that’s just because she’s been hard at work & hasn’t been bathed lately;)
The Chiku Tesshyu is just to show the massive size of it in camparison to your average face brush 🙂

Buggsiebee 13 February, 2013 - 4:41 pm

Yipp, those handles are to die for! If I understand correctly Mugen Brand specialises in the shaft ( handle?) of the brushes. I was reading the translated Japanese though so I may have it completely wrong. Anyway, those two brushes want to come and live in my collection:)

Bea 22 February, 2013 - 2:59 am

I ordered the Mugen Deep cheek and eyeliner brush. Also the Lovely cheek 01. I just couldn’t help myself. :X

212kiki 22 February, 2013 - 8:12 am

@ Bea you have to tell us how they are 🙂 I’m looking for the lovely round one too and wondering if its the same softness as the fupa ones 🙂

212kiki 13 February, 2013 - 9:14 am

The round one seems to be the same hair like fupa01 and 02 but the second only goat ? The characters are different.

Reply
Bonnie 13 February, 2013 - 11:18 am

The round one is sokoho goat (same as Hakuhodo S100), while the “normal” goat!

Reply
212kiki 13 February, 2013 - 11:40 am

I don’t understand what makes the difference on all the characters ? Google translate is not really helpful…
Lovely round [毛] 粗光峰 100%
Koyudo fupa 01 山羊毛(粗光峰)

Lovely 02 [毛] 山羊 100%
Koyudo fupa 02 山羊毛(白尖峰)

Reply
212kiki 13 February, 2013 - 6:22 pm

I think Koyudo dont declare it as baby goat on the own site. I think the right characters should be 子山羊 the 子 is for baby. The rest 白尖峰 is the description that they are uncut ? and chest hair. So we don’t know on all the goat brushes what type of hair they are.
Sokoho, Saikoho, Sokuho ? I may be wrong but thats what i found out….

Oh i’m more confused than before 😀
It doesn’t help we have to try them out 😉

Reply
Melissa 13 February, 2013 - 1:28 pm

Reply
Bea 13 February, 2013 - 6:49 pm

Oooh yes I already have the Lovely brushes on my wishlist lol! 🙂 One complaint I have though is I find the handles just a little too short. I like short handles but these light pink fu-pas, the Houkodou brush (not enough heft/weight to this one either), my Artisan & Artist kolinsky foundation, etc. are all so short. I like the length of the Hakuhodo handles. They do come in different lengths but I like their medium size brush handles.

If I can manage a successful purchase/forward with Tenso, I’ll feel more confident, registering my Tenso address is daunting, it was easier on Rakuten since the directions were so clear. I’m going to try with Tenseido. Tommy seems like a great resource to have, thanks for sharing her Melissa.

Hi Nikoleta, it was part of a set ( for JPY 4000,-) i bought from Cosmedo via Rakuten & Tenso
Both brushes are lovely & soft. The eyeshadow brush felt very firm when it arrived, but after a bath, it was perfect. They’re quite short brushes at 11,5 and 13cm.

Bea, any news about that utterly insane and desirable UFO?
You’d written earlier about asking Tommy to find it because it’s not in the catalogue.
The unhealthy fascination that brush has over me pushes me to ask.

Reply
Bea 15 February, 2013 - 1:20 pm

@Sylvia: IKR?! It’s such a huge brush, how could one possibly use the darn thing unless it’s for the body? Tommy said she couldn’t see it on their website so she requested them to send her a catalogue. The thing is, I have the catalog from 2010 (Japan C post was in 2009) and they only had the smaller one that was pictured below the UFO brush so I don’t know? Anyway she said she’d let me know. I did tell her there were several of us who have an unexplained fascination for it so she knows it’s not only me who wants the thing lol. I’ll let you guys know. Cross your fingers that they are still selling it and it doesn’t cost the earth! 🙂 🙂 🙂

Buggsiebee 15 February, 2013 - 2:14 pm

Mine was shipped by Tenso today so I’ll post some pics as soon as it arrives. I’m really hoping that it’s not as big or as rough as the Nars Botan. Keeping my fingers crossed that it’ll be a good investment 😉
Sorry that my brush pics are so grotty. I take them with my phone & couldn’t really see how out of focus some of them are. My eyes aren’t what they used to be 🙁

The big huge mother just above it to the right on the little shelf. I thought you were talking about the biggest one :X
http://www.spoon-tamago.com/2008/08/21/coverage-japan-c/

Takeda has the smaller one down below it. That’s the one that’s in the catalogue. It’s probably comparable in size to the Nars botan no?

Reply
Buggsiebee 15 February, 2013 - 8:11 pm

Hahahaha….you crazy?! That big mama is way too much for me 🙂
I could probably smother myself to death in it 😀
Phew, the little one is big enough….and yes, I think similar to the Botan in size, but I’m hoping WAY softer ….and just generally better.
I’m not fond of the Botan.

Reply
Bea 15 February, 2013 - 8:22 pm

Yes I am krazy coz I want the big mother of all botan brushes just because I have never seen one that huge lol! I believe Takeda has the smaller botan . It looks like the one in my catalogue.

Buggsiebee 15 February, 2013 - 8:38 pm

You could sit quite comfortably on it 🙂
Or spin it around on your face & have your entire makeup done in 10 seconds 😀

Crazy Bea!! Wait for me to get the small one so that you get an idea of the softness before your order the MOTHER of ALL brushes 😀
It’ll costa plenty too!! The small one was expensive enough! In fact, I ordered it because it IS expensive & Takeda is a TOP brush company & I expect a LOT !!
Hoping I won’t be disappointed.

Sweet Make Up Temptations 15 February, 2013 - 10:01 pm

😀 😀 😀 you all cracked me up !! These brushes look terribly tempting, I just can’t imagine the size of this HUGE mother of brushes, I would love to get it but I believe it must be insanely expensive ! I imagine the quantity of hair and work it has required.. I don’t even know what I would use it for… maybe one big “POUFFF” in the very middle of my face to powder me, my BF and the dog at the same time 😀

my dear friends : I thank you so much for your amazing and funny comments during the whole week ! I haven’t been very present here because it has been a hell of a week at work 🙁
but reading you was making my days !! thank you <3
I don't think it can get worst than this week so to "reward myself" for having survived it, today I thought it was about time to offer myself a nice beauty related present (thanks to Buggsie for sharing the 20% off at Sephora.fr !!)
It's actually something I am obsessed with and that I will soon share with you 🙂

Nikoleta 15 February, 2013 - 10:42 pm

Sonia, to get some extra reductions from sephora you can probably sign in to ebuyclub (http://www.ebuyclub.com/) or igraal (http://fr.igraal.com/), sephora offers often 4-5% as cashback with them, I’m not sure it works for other countries but you can try. I’m curious to see what you’ve bought (make up forever brushes ?) 😉

Sweet Make Up Temptations 15 February, 2013 - 11:24 pm

Thank you !! I’ll write that down !!
You know me well Nikoleta 😉 these new MUFE brushes are (were) in my cart for a while but at the end I did not get them. I got a few MUFE brushes a few years ago, really expensive but that I cannot use so now I prefer to check them out in person, I’ll see if I can manage to pop into Sephora one day… did you get them ? I am interested in the angled cheek and the big crease, then many others too…
My hint : it’s from Tom Ford and it’s not brushes… nor makeup… easy 😉

Nikoleta 16 February, 2013 - 7:36 am

No, I don’t know the new MUFE brushes, they are only available online for now. I prefer check them in person too so will wait to see if they will pop up in my local sephora. There are not many reviews on them (I’ve found this one but it doesn’t explain much on the brushes themselves http://amivimakeup.blogspot.fr/2013/02/la-nouvelle-gamme-de-pinceaux-make-up.html)

Sweet Make Up Temptations 16 February, 2013 - 7:55 am

thank you Nikoleta ! I like the look of the handles and the ferrules, also the shape and design is very interesting but there is something about the bristles that just doesn’t appeal to me… “nouvelles fibres” doesn’t say much about them, they might be good though but they don’t look very tempting. The only way to find out is to go see them …
I think if I buy them and they aren’t as good as the Japanese we are trying right now I might be too disappointed, since the price of the MUFE is high I prefer to invest on others at this moment.

Nikoleta 16 February, 2013 - 8:04 am

I’ve told myself the same thing, I wanted to buy the small blender and the face brush, but finally for the price I prefer see them first or splurge on some hakuhodo.

Buggsiebee 15 February, 2013 - 6:52 pm

@ Bonnie……where is Neo anyway??
Did she have enough of us brushaholics and run for the hills?

Reply
Bonnie 16 February, 2013 - 1:15 pm

Haha no, I’m guessing she’s been busy with real life as she has big news! I emailed her a few days ago to share my excitement over the arrival of the parcel she sent with some things I asked her to buy and things from the Suqqu order we did together, and she hasn’t replied yet, so I’m assuming it’s very hectic on her side.

She could never have enough of us… I hope 😛

Sweet Make Up Temptations 17 February, 2013 - 11:14 am

Me too I wonder … 🙁
I have been thinking of her and I hope I did not scare her away, maybe I did or said something wrong or hurt her… as I said before I can forget to reply to some comments sometimes, I hope that if I did she would not take it personally.
It’s never my intention.

Last time we heard about her was when she asked me to increase the nested level of comments, which I did …
I did have a problem some time ago with Nikoleta’s comments, they weren’t taking the right path into the site so I could not see them, I am glad she told me and we solved the problem. I hope that this problem is not something that happened again with somebody else 🙁
She might be too busy and/or want to avoid temptation or she is just not interested anymore… either way I hope she is all right, I wanted to contact her many times but I am not sure I should..

Buggsiebee 17 February, 2013 - 5:50 pm

Haha, you make me laugh Bonnie:)
Real life can be so intruding sometimes 😀

Sylvia 15 February, 2013 - 9:24 pm

Buggsiebee, I’m looking forward to seeing what the botan is like and how it compares to the Nars. I hope it lives up to its gorgeous photo!

Here’s our answer about the MOTHER of all brushes from Takeda-san: 🙂

The brush you point on the picture is for make-up at “kabuki” .
If we say “nomal make up is oil based make-up”
It mabe said Japanese traditional make-up at kabuki is” watar based
make-up”.
On these traditional make-up,
these large brush is for dehydrating extra wataly
to fix white japanese traditional powder to face.

It is cost about 50000 Japanese Yen.
But we do not have efficient method to recieve money from foreign (only
bank transfer).

@ Sonia & Nikoleta…
the new fibres used on the MUFE brushes are AMAZINGt! Better than anything I have felt before on a synthetic brush ever before. With my eyes closed I would not be able to tell the difference between them and any other super soft natural brush.
The one I like most is the first one I bought which is the #140. Once I felt that I HAD to try more and with the 20% off the price wasn’t that bad in the end 🙂
The # 400 is a first for me in this form & I’m enjoying it for lining my eyes. The great thing about synthetic is that I don’t feel bad to swipe them over alchohol directly after use and have them immediately clean!
I also got the #154, 242, 216, 236 & 144 but I haven’t got around to using them yet.
The color of the ferrule & handle are gorgeous & look beautiful with the gradient hair shading of the brush fibres. The handles do feel a bit rough in some spots because they’re not glazed as far as I can tell. I do think you should try at least one!

Some of those brushes are intriguing me :X I wonder when they’ll be available in my neck of the woods? BTW, just tried a sample of the new MUFE Pro Finish foundation and I am actually liking it. Since it is powder I thought I wouldn’t but mind you I slathered Embryolisse all over my super dry skin as base first. The SA took one quick look at me and handed me the perfect shade. Don’t know how some of them just know in a flash which matches a person’s skin tone because I have the worst time doing it myself lol.

Hi 🙂
Just a quick info, today I received the MUFE brushes, at the end I got : 172, 208, 210, 212, 216, 226, 236 and 150. They are nearly dry so tonight I will be able to take pictures and show them to you very soon (hopefully tomorrow).
First impressions are not bad at all, their shape (design of the head and bundle of the bristles) is really very good, if they perform well I can see them being very popular. The softness is also excellent, totally appropriate for my eyelids, I have a doubt regarding how well they will pick the product but since I haven’t tried them yet I can be wrong.
Will keep you updated very soon !!

Nikoleta 16 February, 2013 - 8:24 pm

@Sonia, Bugsiebee, thank you
Indeed they are nothing alike but the 236 seems to the job, I was afraid it was too big but in fact it is the ideal size for me. I’ll try to complete my list 🙂

What a strange coincidence.
Independently of this conversation, I took advantage of the 20% reduction to stock up on the Benefit cream eyeshadows that will be discontinued. On my way to pay I passed the MUFE stand saw the new brushes and snatched up the 210 without a second thought. I have small, hooded eyes and this little bonbon is very soft and great for the precision work that I like.

Wow, I just checked out the MUFE brushes, they look amazing. I’m quite liking the brown handles which, surprisingly, we don’t actually see very often! I’m not sure how I’ll be able to get my hand on them though – when I’m not on a brush ban 🙁 – as MUFE moved out of Australia quite a few years back (WHY!?).

Keep us updated and be pioneers in these new brushes 😛

Evtl. your flash plugin or something need an update ?

Reply
Sweet Make Up Temptations 17 February, 2013 - 10:20 pm

Are you talking about themakeupmanual website ? if yes it requires the plugin adobe flash player and it will prompt you to install it, you have to accept the install when it prompts you to, or install it manually before, if it crashes.
Try going via Internet explorer or google chrome browsers in the meantime.
Also clear your temporary cached files, something might be corrupted there. Are you using Apple or Windows systems ?
Send me a private email if you want me to help !
Here are instructions for you :

Thanks for the advice, Sonia!
You were right about the Adobe update, both you and 212Kiki!
Not only brushes but tech advice!
What a fantastic blog!

About the MUFE brushes.
I bought mine at the Gran Via Sephora Space.
I went there to stock up on soon to be discontinued Benefit cream shadow, which I love. On my way to the payment counter I passed the MUFE area of the shop and barely broke my stride to scoop up the 210.
As I wrote before, it’s a bonbon of a brush if you have small, hooded eyes.
The handle is a trifle rustic- the texture of the beechwood is quite apparent as the wood hasn’t been heavily varnished, just stained to that lovely coffee colour with the grain showing up in a bronze-gold and then a very light coat of clear varnish applied, if there’s any varnish at all.

I’ll go back there today before work and let you know which brushes from the new line are actually available here.
And of course I offer my services as a brush enabler.

The Yojiya brushes do look absolutely gorgeous. Too much like Hakuhodo’s Kokutan brushes though. They must be produced by the same manufacturer don’t you think?

Buggsie I didn’t see the new UFO brush! It’s smaller than the Nars botan. I am surprised by that but I know that’s what you wanted. I might have to settle for it since the mother of all brushes is just waaaay to expensive lol.

Reply
Buggsiebee 25 February, 2013 - 6:37 am

Hi Bea!
I don’t think it’s a have to have at the price. The brush & the wooden handle are perfectly crafted but the hair is not of the super soft variety. It’s very dense & may be good for applying mineral foundation in a buffing motion, but mineral foundation does nothing for my old skin so I won’t be using it for that. For finishing powder application I am thrilled with the Koyudo H008 which is super soft & gives me the finish I’m looking for.
The UFO will join my Koyudo White Mushroom and the Macaroons which are beautiful to look at but do not work in my daily routine.
Rather save your money for some Kashoen pretties 🙂

Sweet Make Up Temptations 25 February, 2013 - 7:53 pm

Bea 25 February, 2013 - 8:20 pm

Oh good I’m glad you said that about the UFO brush! Funds need not be diverted for it lol! The Cosmedo red H008 dupe came back in stock at Rakuten so I think Tommy grabbed one for me yay! I love the red handles. And I think that’s why I am so drawn to the Kashoen brushes. I actually messaged them on FB but haven’t heard back. Am wondering if they are trying to translate my pm from English to Japanese lol!

Reply
Buggsiebee 25 February, 2013 - 6:43 am

I think you’re refering to the Nars Botan brush? The all-black one?
It was one of my first more expensive & unusual brushes & I have to confess that I really never use it. It’s way too big & too scratchy for my face & I’m not big on powdering my body so it’s a display brush. Since I purchased mine many years ago it could well be that the hair used these days is less rough?

Reply
Buggsiebee 27 February, 2013 - 9:19 pm

Hey Melissa:)
I’ll send you a pic tomorrow, but the Cosmedo is a much more generous brush than the Suqqu. The Suqqu is like a flattish feather in comaprison to the fuller & fluffier Cosmedo.
The Suqqu offers much more precision, but the Cosmedo is more fun:D

No worries 🙂 I would hate for them to expire so I’m keeping an eye on them…

Oh, and my no shopping ban didn’t work, ladies 🙁 Since I was Tenso-ing, I decided to pick up the Hakuhodo G537 and the cheaper Jap version of the Hakuhodo S122 while I was at it… sigh.

Argh, I’ve been falling into the LE trap 🙁 Every time I say no more, no buy or DIE, something LE appears on the scene, or a sale, and then I have to tell myself, buy it or you will regret it…you can save up next week. I’m telling you – it is a *conspiracy*!

But I should be good for March! I don’t think there will be any more spectacular LE releases……right!?

well, I don’t know what I will get for my birthday yet but I will try to get myself an extraordinary brush 😛

Reply
Nikoleta 9 March, 2013 - 9:26 pm

😉 it seems like a wonderful giant blending powder brush and it says the quality of hairs is something amazing, specially selected. It would be nice if chikuhodo put some real photos. I doubt it could be a multitasker though given it’s big size.

Buggsiebee 10 March, 2013 - 10:03 am

Hi Nikoletta:)
If you look at the pictures of my brushes you will see this brush next to the Tesshyu face powder brush. It is essentially an extremely soft finishing brush & not suitable for buffing at all. It is pretty much identicle to the face powder brush in the Kiwami set, so if you are ever planning to get that, then you don’t need this one.

Yes ! A week ago and I had to pay 30% taxes but well, it is a very nice brush and don’t have anything like it, it shed several hairs, but seems to have stopped. It is indeed very soft, very pleasent to use.

Reply

Good to hear it arrived, finally!
30% taxes? That’s simply dreadful. I was very lucky mine came through without any then, as we have the same taxation here.

There’s EMI music on it which GEMA hasn’t authorised.
Why does everything have to be so uptight & controlled in this country?!!

Bea 13 March, 2013 - 8:54 pm

I made the video 3 years ago. It was one of my first attempts so it’s pretty crude. I looked at the file size of the video and it is 10.5mb. Let me see if I can email it to Sonia as an attachment and she can forward it on to you. The song I used was Japanese but I guess EMI holds the rights to it. Don’t get me started on copyright and all that baloney lol. 🙂

That’s great Buggsie! Maybe 3 years ago my brush collection would have been considered huge but not anymore I don’t think. Sonia of course has surpassed me in that department lol! Aaaand you, Melissa and some of the other ladies on here would most likely be quite capable of giving me a run for my money! 😉 I still have to purchase any of the J series but it got derailed when I found Sonia’s blog and Koyudo. 🙂 🙂

Haha….I know your video soooooo well 🙂
It must’ve been available in the time before GEMA clamped down on the music rights.
I used to play it again & again and pause and stare at all the lovely brushes I couldn’t get hold of. I loved/ love the accompanying music too.
Totally divine Bea! Your video was a huge inspiration for me to keep on searching to find a way to get hold seemingly unattainable brushes.
LOVE!!

Bea 14 March, 2013 - 10:21 pm

Thank you @Buggsiebee! I am glad it helped even though pics were kinda crappy lol. The next one should be better if I can only get my act together and finish it (nail polish craziness got in the way). It was indeed my purpose to do it the slideshow way so people could pause and look the brushes over more carefully. I guess I will have to look into using creative commons music instead. I hadn’t realized it was unavailable to certain countries (including my own) until last week.

BTW I picked up the new Illamasqua Blush Up brush. Does anyone have it? It’s similar to the Claudia Riaz Instant Arch which I also have. I am fascinated by that shape of brush lol. What I am going to do with all these brushes I keep buying, heaven only knows. 😉

Bahahaha! Thanks Melissa. 🙂 I am working on another one with the G55 series which has been 3 years in the making and is nowhere near completion. :X The SGP21 applies with a little bit of streakiness however it is very minimal. It is nowhere near as streaky as a synthetic one. It’s really not that bothersome as a couple of extra swipes and the streaks disappear. It does not do it with my KGD Maifanshi foundation at all but that has a thicker consistency. What I really like about it is it’s easy to apply foundation or even concealer around your nose and under your eyes. You can get pretty close to the lower lash line if you need to apply product in that area. Having said that, I still think I get a better, more natural looking application with my G543 brush. I love that one to death. And I also like the fu-pa07 a bit better for the same reason. I was a little disappointed though because the handle came off and I had to glue it back on. Not something I expected since the A & A brushes are made by Chikuhodo.

HAVE A GREAT EASTER WKEND GIRLS 🙂

Reply
Sweet Make Up Temptations 30 March, 2013 - 6:46 pm

Hi Melissa,
the Fu-pa12 would be too big, although you can use it clean to blend out but if you apply the product with this brush it would cover too much surface.
Some of my favorites are the fu-pa6 or 10, also the small TF02, or the Shu 18 goat, or the Koyudo BP014 or Chikuhodo G-10, or even the Tanseido YGQ 17 or the Hakuhodo J544… as you see sooo many options !
if you want to go for a versatile option, the Hakuhodo and the Tanseido are the ones you’ll use with many other products too.
Lisa Eldridge even uses the Suqqu cheek but there is no way I’ll use it with cream, way too precious and it would require too many frequent washes.
Thank you 🙂 and happy Easter to you too 🙂

Reply
Melissa 30 March, 2013 - 8:16 pm

Thank you dear! The Tanseido YGQ 17 it is then 🙂 I’ve been thinking of getting the BP013 so I guess that 1 too 🙂

I just hope that the TF Shading & Illuminating will work for me, especially since its a big splurge for a countour product!

Which cream contour products do you use?

We’re having some really stormy & rainy weather which is a pity 🙁
Yesterday it was POURING all day so we got DVDs and turned my parents home into a home cinema with pop corn, coke and all kinds of junk food. Today the weather is also rotten so, aside from going to church this morning at 7:30 ( hello?! WHY so early on a Sunday?!! ), we’ll be staying indoors & eating all day 😀
I said I’ll give you the Shade & Illuminate – not sell !
When I get back I’ll mail you for your address Ok?
I didn’t get the Takeda package before I left but my eldest son said he’d collect it for me so I feel relaxed about nothing going wrong with my very special order.

Just picked up my brushes. FINALLY got the White Mushroom. Also picked up the Hakuhodo G537 and the S122Bk (the S122 but in the cheaper Jap-only black handle). And from Akachanfudem the Kyureido KK-004, the Takeda eyeshadow brushes #8 and #11 (short handles, because I have severely short-sighted :P) and Hokuto BS-13 (basic pencil brush). I had my Chinese name engraved on the bottom of these last few brushes and *squeeeee* — pretty!

I’m lemming the Garan Kolinsky found brush, but it costs 15.435 Yen 🙁
PBQW10: http://www.webgaran.com/muf/products/

Takeda No.15LF is cheaper 10.500:
http://takeda-brush.com/brush/PureRedSable-2.html

Is ‘Pure Red Sable’ same as Kolinsky?

Bea 3 April, 2013 - 3:46 pm

Melissa this is the No. 15LF kolinsky foundation brush I am lemming. I see the price has gone up a tad since I saw it in my catalog. It used to be Y9450. I had emailed about the red sable and kolinsky question and here was the answer I got…

About “pure red sable” product.

No.10F are made by kolinsky hair.
(Bigger size “pure red sabe” than No.10,for example No.11,12,14, are made
by kilinsky hair)
No.9S,No.8,,No.8S are made by weasel hair.

Especially “pure red sable” ,
We consider the top point [end ]of natural hair is very important to
” each hair gathering to a target point ” and “fitting for skin” and so on.
So we made “pure red sable” product without cutting top point of hair.
On this circumustances,
weasel hair have suitable waist point [most strong point ] from end of hair
for small or short brushes.
Kolinsky hair have too long distance from waist point to end of hair.

There was even a diagram attached to show what he was trying to explain to me about the difference between kolinsky and weasel. They are really great at providing info.

Bea 3 April, 2013 - 3:49 pm

Blergh…now I think I want that Garan kolinksy even more than the Takeda lmao!

Bonnie 3 April, 2013 - 4:22 pm

I really do think that the Takeda are an excellent and cheaper alternative to the Shu if you want kolinsky eyeshadow brushes 🙂 Some might even find the Takeda easier to work with because it’s flatter and has more give!

What’s foundation application like with kolinsky? Melissa and Bea!!! I really don’t like you two for introducing all these brushes :S Now I want to try them too and I just got the Houkodou as well!

I have to admit, I prefer the look of the Takeda though. The handle just looks so clean and “sexily” shaped…. o.O

midnitedesire 10 April, 2013 - 7:50 pm

Hi Melissa, i hope you don’t mind my asking, do you think you could do a comparison? or, pls let me know what you think of cosmedo blush brush PK-C03 VS. RMK Cheek Brush or, Chiku Z-4 (RMK,i own a pre-2012 one)?

looks very nice but i couldn’t find any reviews about it. 🙂

Bea 3 April, 2013 - 3:24 pm

Eeeeep! The Takeda brushes look good. Thanks for the pics Bonnie! 🙂 I am getting overwhelmed. I don’t know which ones to get next lol. Yes I revisited my Chikuhodo made Artisan & Artist kolinsky foundation brush and I am really liking it right now so I am lemming the Takeda No.15LF version which I had wanted to get a few years ago. I think I was probably distracted and turned off by the A&A brush handle coming off blergh. Now the Takeda one has gone back on my list. :X

Reply
Bonnie 3 April, 2013 - 4:27 pm

I’m looking forward to using them tomorrow when I wake up… omgsh, it’s 3.30am here!

Ooooh, that’s sad to hear that your A&A brush handle came off :S I’m paranoid when washing my brushes that water will drip down and loosen the ferrule. I hope that the quality of brushes has gone up since then but I think the Takeda look pretty sturdy to me 🙂

Melissa 6 April, 2013 - 11:47 pm

Bonnie! soooo…..how does the Takeda perform so far?! Do u like them? Are they as soft as the Shu?

I dont own a Kolinsky foundation brush so far. But I’m planning on getting the A&A SGP-21 as my first since Bea has been quite happy with it.

I do own the A&A SGP-14, 17 & 20. Verrrrry happy with all of them!! I’ve been using them daily for the past 5 weeks, so I will send Sonia my review and pics hopefully this wkend 🙂

Bonnie 9 April, 2013 - 3:16 am

Ooops, I missed this!

I say that between the Shu #10 and #12, and the Takeda #11, the Takeda might be even softer 🙂 It might be because it’s less densely packed so the floppiness may contribute a little, but really, the difference is quite marginal. I actually quite like how it feels because it’s less densely packed!

It looks ss if no brand can provide a structural dupe for Shu U. yet. But I believe Takeda has its good perfrmance (many Jap brush provides a thinner brush shape than their OEM ones, I guess it still work well.

I just don’t like Shu U. much though, not for its product, but the agressive BA. I was followed by 3 BA along 2 display benches of standard size. I would rathe adapt to other brands.

It’s not entirely the same, but… I’m loving the shorter handles (and the fact my Chinese name is engraved on it haha)! I am seriously short-sighted and while I do apply eye makeup with my contacts on, I still need to get “up close and personal” with my reflection lol. I think the price point of Takeda is very good 🙂

Who is Takeda OEM for btw?

Reply
Gladys L. 4 April, 2013 - 9:00 am

Oh, the “thinner than OEM” comment applies to all brands (especially Hakuhodo and Tanseido).

Since you have asked: Takeda no longer has long term OEM client now, the owner said the produftion team iscsmall, he is rather content with his latest small 3000 eye brush OEM order. Takeda is proud of developing new brushes, according to online sharings.

Bonnie 4 April, 2013 - 11:56 am

Oooooh, thank you for clarifying Melissa 🙂 I think I saw somewhere (it was in Japanese and I didn’t bother translating it) that Takeda may be associated with Chanel?

Reply
Gladys L. 4 April, 2013 - 1:51 pm

Maybe it’s Tanseido again for Chanel’s recent permanent brush range renewed not long ago (that including the highly praised foundation brush). I am new to brush news. ^ ^

All I know is the recent sharings of a Kumano Fude Festival trip which refers to the saying of 3000 lip brush OEM order (my mistake again, not eye). The owner explained that it’s because of his less than average brush hair storage. orz…

Sweet Make Up Temptations 4 April, 2013 - 1:56 pm

I have (had) a lot of recent Chanel brushes, the blush brush is nice and I love how efficient some of them are but some aren’t that soft. What foundation brush are you talking about ? the stippling or the flat ?
By the way.. has someone tried (touched) the new Chanel retractable kabuki that comes with the new Les Beiges healthy powder ? it looks soft but I couldn’t see it in person… I really want to know how soft it is…

Bonnie 4 April, 2013 - 2:36 pm

I meant Gladys btw, not Melissa! I’m so sorry ><

Think I got a bit lost :S

Bonnie 4 April, 2013 - 2:40 pm

And no! Les Beiges isn’t even released here, but indigo kir royale commented that it’s softer than the Hakuhodo White Maple Kinokos though… do you know how tempting that makes it with the added portability!?

I’m LOVING the White Mushroom btw! Can’t believe I took sooo long to pick it up!

Sweet Make Up Temptations 4 April, 2013 - 5:25 pm

Ok girls… I just bought the Chanel kabuki brush a few minutes ago (I knew a place where they had one left and I had a voucher blablabla 😛 *pathetic excuse* 😀
yes it’s soft but… it’s synthetic.
I saw the same Chanel sales assistant the other day, she showed me the brush (a new one from a distance), I couldn’t touch it because they had no samples on the counters and I totally understand that I cannot touch a new brush so I didn’t even ask.
She said it was made with natural hair, now I can say : no it’s not.
Is it soft like other bloggers say : yes but we cannot compare a natural brush with a synthetic brush, it is soft but you just need to know it’s not natural. I am a bit disappointed because I couldn’t find on the web if it was synthetic or not (I didn’t spend 24 hours looking either so maybe I can’t complaint…) and because the assistant told me it was natural… I probably wouldn’t have bought it if I was certain but I will try it and will let you know 🙂

Sweet Make Up Temptations 5 April, 2013 - 8:41 am

glad you love the white mushroom ! do you mind sending us a pic when you have some time ? I just wanted to make sure the shape is similar to the one I got … thanks 🙂

Gladys L. 4 April, 2013 - 2:54 pm

A lot of luxury-brand-only followers in forums prefer the latest Chanel flat foundation brush (syntgetic, thicker than other brands) to that of ALL other brands (I know Shiseido conquers all by the kabuki) as it is less streaky for application. But I am scared off by the price abd I only need a flat one for putting product on. And I guess it’s the old Chanel brushes have a higher chance of being related to Takeda (just a guess).

@Bonnie: never mind! 🙂 I always make typos with my Note2.0 and amendments, which is a far annoying behavior.

Sweet Make Up Temptations 5 April, 2013 - 8:45 am

If they prefer the new flat Chanel because of that, the N°7 is cheaper and as good in my opinion.

Bonnie 5 April, 2013 - 10:26 am

Hmm, please let me know how it performs. I have no problem with synthetic but like you, I think I’d like to know what I was buying into first! I think the good thing about it is definitely it’s portability. I’d be terrified of travelling with the White Mushroom or any type of kabuki honestly, because I know I’d mostly likely end up squashing and mangling it :S

Gladys L. 5 April, 2013 - 12:19 am

Oh, Channel has a new kabuki!? Sorry for me being not up-to-date, I have just visited the counter yesterday (but my city needs more time until the summer collection to come (Sonia, you are once again very kind to buy a new brush to give reviews again.) I am terribly sorry if my dicussion wrongly triggered you into buyong the kabuki.

The only tool I have waited for years from Chanel is the eyelash curler I used in a learning session in their “learning centre” 4 to 5 years ago. I am not fast enough for the Asia limited releases yet. Even if I can get a hold of those , I think I won’t be sure if they are the ones I used in the “centre”.

I feel bad for your BA-give-wrong-advice experience, I lose my patience and affection for BA and thus a brand because of this. I can’t trust people’s foundation matching advice.

What’s on yer nailz Buggsie?! As I was telling Sylvia, my other obsession which fights for its right in my bank a/c has been rearing its ugly head lately since the online store I buy polish from keeps adding new indie brands to its roster. And now Sonia has just made things more complicated for my wishlist by introducing Evgeny brushes which is right in my backyard so I have been trying to put off a trip to the store to see them. >.<

Hey Bea 😉
My ‘frivolities’ budget also has to be divided between brushes & nail polish….and makeup. Mind you, are any of these items frivolities?? I’m thinking definitely ‘neccessities’ !! Much more important than a new car! I have legs & feet to get me from a to b 😀
Which online store do you order from?
My nails are a rainbow of color right now because I just recieved my NARS Pierre Hardy order. The Boys Don’t Cry blush is also DIVINE. I was actually going to give it a miss, but then I read its shade described as ‘pink grapefruit’ & I could absolutely NOT less that pass me by!!

Nooooooo buggsie now i need this blush 🙁 my first addict is blush.
A while ago I bought all , lipsticks blushes eyeshadow nail polish, all I thought I NEED. But I realized that i’m only using blushes so I sold most of the other stuff I don’t use.
After that the brush addict came and now I’m spending more money than before 😀

Buggsiebee 18 April, 2013 - 11:54 am

@212kik ….Even if you don’t wear much lipstick, the Larger Than Life Lip Gloss in Paris Follies from the Summer collection looks BRILLIANT with the pink grapefruit blush 😉
Just fresh & yummy!!

212kik 18 April, 2013 - 12:48 pm

Psst don’t do this 😉 but I think the gloss is too bright for me… For my taste many nice colors are looking too bright on me because I’m very pale they are “dominating” my face.

I don’t know but I don’t have problems with bright blushes also because of all these nice and helpfull brushes 😀

Sweet Make Up Temptations 18 April, 2013 - 8:36 pm

stopppp it, evil Buggsiebee !!! 🙁 no “darling” anymore for you !!! you temptress !!! 😀

Sweet Make Up Temptations 18 April, 2013 - 8:32 pm

we all go through phases, my first was eyeshadow and bronzer, then blush, then lipstick… then I hit on highlighters like there’s no tomorrow ! but then I started a massive attack on brushes and see where it ended … 😛

Bea 18 April, 2013 - 1:14 pm

Ohhhh must see if my Nars counter has the new collex! Is it already in Sephora too I wonder?? Must walk in the mall to check lol. Buggsiebee that Boys Don’t Cry blush seems really bright… is it? I have one of the Color Club Halo Hues on as it was sunny over here yesterday and had to retake pics as the original ones I took for my group were inadequately showing the holo bling lol. Have you seen the new Chanel Taboo? We don’t have it here yet but I know a couple of people who have ordered it on the website. I don’t want to take up too much space and talk nailz on here because others are probably not into it. I shop at llarowe.com or Harlow & Co. because as I mentioned before, I use a lot of indie brands. I know both the owners as we used to be in a FB group together. Maybe if it’s alright with you, I will ask Sonia to pass on my email addy to you so we can compare notes on nailz. 🙂 🙂

Yeah I neeeeed Chanel taboo too it’s awesome 😀

Buggsiebee 19 April, 2013 - 5:05 am

Thanks Bea, and thanks Sonia for passing the mail addy on 🙂
The NARS blush is VERY bright, but certainly not excessively so & I find the texture tip top so it’s not a problem to apply sparingly at all. I feel compelled to get these pigmented blushes to challenge my beautiful brushes 😀 !!
I’ve heard of both those shops & will check them out this morning.

Buggsiebee 19 April, 2013 - 5:08 am

I don’t have Taboo ….yet, but I most certainly intend to add it to my collection when it finally arrives in Germany. I believe that it will be part of the permanent lineup so I’m not spending a fortune to get one sent to me yet.

Okay, you ladies will be glad to know that the Lovely brush is practically the same as the fu-pa01. I have four of these brushes now – 2 fu-pa01, the Cosmedo fu-cho01 and this Lovely cheek brush. What I am going to do with all of these I have no clue lol. Softness is the same as far as I can tell. The hair length of the Lovely brush is maybe a millimetre shorter than the Cosmedo & Koyudo. I would say the brush head is just ever so slightly smaller than the other two. It is really not that noticeable until you bring them right next to each other. For some reason I think the hairs on the Lovely brush are just a little more tapered but I could be mistaken since it’s hard to see with the black brushes. When I run my fingers thru the brush there seems to be slightly less ‘give’ due to the shorter hair length I suppose. The overall length of the brush is also shorter than the other two. I have taken pics and will email them to Sonia. If anyone has more questions, fire away. Or if you want more comparison pics, let me know and I can email them to you. 🙂

And….I need a backup of the Mugen Deep Shadow Liner brush. It is awesome for a thicker, smudged line around the eyes. I dare say I need two more of these as I can probably also use it to fill in eyebrows using powder. Thank goodness it isn’t that expensive (especially since I think they said it is made out of kolinsky)!

Soooo Bea,……my Mugen brushes ( deep selection cheek, liner & brow brushes plus Miss Lovely ) arrived today – care of Tommy 🙂
The Deep Selection brushes are beautifully maunfactured, don’t you think? Really gorgeous! I love the liner & brow brushes but the cheek brush is more like a thicker contour brush. I can’t imagine using it for blush at all!! It’s waaaaaaay too dense & inflexible for my taste, but perhaps I’m just too picky because the Takeda blush brush I wanted so badly turned out to be a big disappointment too. It’s waaaaaaay to big, non- directional & loose for even the chubbiest of cheeks!!
I’m no longer that easy to please 🙁

Bea 22 April, 2013 - 3:37 pm

You know, it really is time for us to have a forum. It took me forever to find Buggsiebee’s comment to me in order to answer it after I got the notice in my inbox. Buggsie I agree about the Deep Cheek’s size, ti’s more of a highlight/contour brush. The Deep brushes look beautiful except for my one complaint…they are really lightweight. I was hoping they would have more heft so it feels ‘cheap’ when I handle it. Does that make sense? Maybe it’s just me. The ferrule and handle probably make it the best looking brushes I have, aside from the red Cosmedo ones. As I said before I need another Shadow Liner 06 brush. I love that one. I’ve washed the cheek brush but have not used it yet just like I have not used my fu-pa14 lol. Who am I kidding? I have very dry skin, I don’t use powder products much on my face. I just bought it for its looks. What can I say, I am superficial bahaha! 😛 😛 😛
I’m currently putting together a small order of the Hakuhodo J series. I have been meaning to get some to try out since Oct of last year but a lovely little lady derailed that plan. I have a special place in my heart for this brand and feel a certain loyalty toward it lol. I actually feel a little guilty for ‘stepping out’ on it for the the last several months with Koyudo, et al. :X 🙂

Bea 22 April, 2013 - 3:40 pm

OMG what am I saying?! See, I forgot to add the Kokutan and S100 series to my best looking brushes! I am such a traitor, HKD please forgive me. :X 😛 😛

Buggsiebee 22 April, 2013 - 4:50 pm

You are absolutely right about the lack of heft! I hadn’t even noticed that yet. Wow, they’re like feathers. I also prefer my brushes to feel heavier in the hand but the brow & liner brushes are sooooo lovely that I will most certainly make use of them…heft or not. Perhaps the cheek brush would be ok for applying cream blush?
Tanseido is my # 1 brush brand at the moment. I reach for their eye shadow brushes OVER my Shu brushes which is almost unheard of & an absolute first for me. The little Tanseido red squirrel YAQ17 is my # 1 blush brush at the moment too.
Hakuhodo is still right up there with the best though & their little brow brush from the Xmas set is my my favourite brow brush ever, ever!!

Bea 22 April, 2013 - 6:18 pm

Buggsie you are right! I just used it on my Illamasqua cream blush and it worked really well! It picked up a lot of product though so my right cheek looked like a clown’s but I just touched the tip of the brush next time for my left cheek and buffed in circular motions and it was way better. Then I got the idea of using it with my Shu Nobara cream foundation and ohhhh that worked fine too! I now love using this brush aside from just looking at it lol. 🙂 🙂

Sweet Make Up Temptations 24 April, 2013 - 8:12 am

argh Tanseido…. I can tell you that I am going to go crazy nuts in Japan at their shop 😛
Probably going to faint at some point 😀

Sweet Make Up Temptations 24 April, 2013 - 7:55 am

I got the fu-pa14 today, I am glad it’s so soft ! I have dry skin but I’ll still use it with sheer blushes, I have just a few in mind that it will be perfect with !
I also buy brushes because they are a work of art, but except for a few that are just for decoration, I do use them all. I prefer long and well-balanced handles, like the Tanseido for example 😛
there is no reason to feel guilty Bea, believe me, they do get a lot of business anyway 🙂

Melissa 16 April, 2013 - 7:08 am

Bea!!! Thanks so much for the speedy review 🙂 I def will get 1 myself! Will also order the round Lovely, wondering if its as soft as the Houkudou.

Bea 16 April, 2013 - 3:41 pm

Melissa I’m confuzzled chicky? I did get the round Lovely brush. It’s the one I was comparing to the fu-pa01? I sent Sonia a collage of the brushes I got including the fu-pa14 and the Cosmedo brushes. BTW that H0008 dupe is sooooo stinkin’ cute and sooooo soft!!! It’s even smaller than my G543 and I thought that was small! It’s like a mini-me version of the Hakuhodo lol. This round Lovely is not as soft as the Houkodou. That brush is in a class of its own. I actually think the round Lovely reminds me more of the fu-pa02/fu-pa07 and the Cosmedo fu-li02 in terms of hair texture. I’m going to test it today with my KGD foundation. 🙂 I have more pics than the collaged one I sent to Sonia. I will email her a couple more so you can get a better look and she can forward it on to you. 🙂

These Evgeny brushes certainly look very high quality. Can’t wait for mine 🙂
Another good looker is the FuPa14 ! What do you use it for….aside form just looking at it and loving it to pieces? 😉 Do you think it would be good for bronzer or is it too dense?

Sweet Make Up Temptations 21 April, 2013 - 3:12 pm

I will receive the FU-pa 14 this week, I’ll be able to compare it to the Chikuhodo Z-1, I think it could be a bit similar …

Bea 21 April, 2013 - 4:07 pm

Thank you Buggsiebee! I usually change my mani either everyday or every other day. Can you tell I have too much time on my hands lol. I used to belong to a small FB nail group and people were sharing their pics so I started doing the same and found that I really liked doing it plus I have a photo archive of the colours I’ve used especially the holographics since I just find them stunning to look at lol. Now I’ve discovered I like taking pics of my precioussssss sooooo being able to combine the two things I love – a riot of colour and makeup brushes (wierd?) and actually enjoying the process of putting the pics into a sort presentation. It satisfies my need to be creative in some way I suppose. Friends have urged me to blog but really, does the world need another nail blog like the thousand other nail blogs in polish land? I’d like mine to be different somehow but I haven’t figured out how to do that yet so I haven’t set one up.

As for the fu-pa14, you have outed me. I bought it primarily to look at like most of my brushes…really. :X I’ve washed the thing but have not gotten around to using it. I don’t do bronzers much and the one that I do use is the cream Chanel Bronze Universale. I (supposedly) bought the fu-pa14 for my KGD Maifanshi loose powder. I think you might be right though, about it being too dense for bronzer but I could be mistaken. I’ll have to root around in my makeup stash. I’ve gotten rid of a lot of my makeup since it was mostly cluttering up my space so I might have tossed the one and only powder bronzer I might have had. Yes Bea, get rid of the products but keep hoarding the tools. 😛 😛

Melissa 20 April, 2013 - 11:08 pm

oh by the way, you see the pink fan one on the left of your link ? I have ordered the Koyudo one http://www.koyudo.co.jp/product/other/h013.html
It has been shipped and will be here this week 🙂

Melissa 21 April, 2013 - 5:18 pm

Yessss…I’ve been eyeing this 1 from the begining actually 🙂 I dont own a fan brush so that counts as a good excuse to order it right?! Pls say yes 🙂

And the Sakurado 1 is 50% off 1417 Yen ONLY! As far as I can see both are made from same material: mountain goat??
TEMPTIIIIIING!!!!!

Oopssss….there it goes in my Rakuten shopping basket 🙂 🙂

Reply
Sweet Make Up Temptations 22 April, 2013 - 6:47 am

I was looking for long handle fan brushes (dense but SOFT), which I cannot find at all. I have the LY20 but I want something as dense but soft. I have one Hakuhodo but I wanted one denser… so we’ll see. This Sakurado shape is nice, for that price it’s amazing, I wish it’s soft enough !!!
If I hadn’t ordered the Koyudo I probably would have ordered that one from Rakuten.. but gosh the Koyudo is expensive so I hope it meets my expectations : soft and fluffly hair (it’s baby goat’s hair so ….. eeeeeeeckkkkkkkkk 😀 )

LOL…Bea! I actually have been eating tuna out of a can lately. Fried with garlic and onions and some sesamy oil and soya sauce…..yummmiee 🙂
As u can see I adjust my diet to afford my brush addiction 🙂

Buggsiebee 22 April, 2013 - 12:15 pm

😀 sounds like a similar meal of mine but instead of the sesame oil & soya, I add olive oil, chili and chopped sun dried tomatoes & goatsmilk feta. Then, depending on how healthily I want to eat or how lazy I’m feeling, I serve it either on spaghetti or with baguette or on top of a leafy salad 🙂 Super easy & very yummy.

Hi Melissa,
Just a quick update… I just received the Fu-pa 14 and the little pink fan here, O-M-G !
I love both of them ! but the little (big) pink fan WAOWWW !!! I am thrilled !!! that’s a unique and fun brush ! so soft and fluffy, so MEEEE 😛
I have to show you pics asap !!!

Reply
Melissa 24 April, 2013 - 7:49 am

Aaaaaarggg…….YES pics of the fans asap pleeeease 🙂 🙂

And THANK YOU for yr advice to get the Koyudo BP014 for cream contouring! I just received it yesterday, washed it, used it with the TF S&I Buggsie sent me! OMG….blending is flawless! So I’ll order the big sister BP013 too 🙂

So I think I’ll get both pink fans since the other 1 is so damn cheap 🙂

Sweet Make Up Temptations 24 April, 2013 - 8:07 am

cooool !
yes I totally recommend you the pink fan from Koyudo, cdjapan had the wrong price, so I paid more by mistake then they refunded me part of it, so now it has a better price 🙂 totally totally worth it !!! I just can’t wait to get home tonight (omg I am so shallow… 😀 ) but I have to go out tonight to a dinner 🙁 sad face…
I hope that during my lunch break today I can publish one of my pending posts ! I am so late with my reviews !!!
*oh noooo, I forgot to hit save at home before I left this morning… I can’t believe it !!! I have to wait tonight for the post to be published 🙁 arrrrgggghhhh ! not cool 🙁

Ditto for the recipe. I am a lazy, lazy cook and that sounds just my style. Tasty, simple and cheap.

@ Bea…….I’m certain that your blog would be beautiful , hugely amusing & honest. You can put me on your follower list already 🙂
I think that the Fupa14 looks good for powder – like the KGD Maifanshi & I would probably use it interchangeably with my Koyudo H008 or it’s Cosmedo berry red twin.
Hey, I also buy brushes which I don’t neccesarliy intend to use for applying makeup. Some of the brushes I have would certainly be good workhorses, but they are just too special / beautiful to use. They’re just my treasures……like the 100000 nail polishes stacked away in my drawers. If a fire ever started in my room, the house would probably go up like a packet of crackers!!

Buggsiebee! I washed my Mugen Cheek brush for the 2nd time after I used it with the cream blush and foundation. It’s so much softer now! When I first got it I did notice the layer of protective film on the hairs so I washed it straightaway. It made a difference but the 2nd bath really showed even more of a difference! I am petting it now. 😛 😛

Reply
Sylvia 23 April, 2013 - 9:05 am

And I love, love, love petting those fluffy white goat brushes… and the red squirrel *swoons*

Have you ever had a brush that compares to the RS for swooniness?

Buggsiebee 24 April, 2013 - 8:25 am

Happy to hear that you’re getting along well together 🙂
I washed mine for quite a while the first time round as there was quite a bit of dye being released with every rinse. This morning it was very nice & soft, but it still ain’t going to make it anywhere close to being a favourite. I used the two eye brushes & am VERY pleased with them though, so yeah for Mugen 😀 !

Sweet Make Up Temptations 25 April, 2013 - 12:31 pm

I know 🙁
but to my defense, sometimes CDjapan helps me with some purchases (and they are paying 50% of this set for me) Please don’t think my opinion is “bought” or anything, it’s always my personal opinion ! And to be honest I have received only just a few samples (the black goat set and 3 fupas, but it is always mentioned in my posts when they are samples offered, if you didn’t read that often, it’s because that didn’t happen often, so compared to the hundreds of Koyudo brushes I own and I paid in full, it’s not much but it’s already something ! It’s the only company that actually sometimes give me a sample or for this set, a discount, and to be even more honest, I do appreciate it. Specially today because believe me, I cannot buy many other things once my budget has been allocated to my expensive makeup and brush purchases 😛
I could also have added an affiliate link but I did not, although my bf tells me I should since that would maybe help a bit with my purchases 😛
It’s their way to thank me for spreading the word and having made them internationally known.
The only problem is that I want *more* brushes that what they can offer me for free, so I need to purchase them when I want them… just bought the fu-pa14 and the pink fan that are truly amazing. I wasn’t going to take this expensive set but since they offer a discount… I just cannot say no 🙁 I hope it’s as good quality as the fu-pa14 !
yes I will try to meet them, we’ll see … just got my boss confirmation that I can take my holidays! so now I am going to book everything !

212kiki 25 April, 2013 - 12:54 pm

I can only speak for myself but i never thought your opinion is bought. And you are blogging because you love brushes and have fun with makeup:) You also wrote that cdjapan give you sometimes samples and thats ok 😉 In my opinion you are one of the most honest bloggers i came across 😉 Also because of the tons of answers you give in the comments so we know more of your thought and yourself 😉
There are so many blogs they get tons of free stuff and you dont know.

Sylvia 26 April, 2013 - 8:47 am

Ah, good to read your thoughts on the fupa 14. I’m still awaiting it’s arrival to my local post office. Great news about the hols plans!

Gladys L. 26 April, 2013 - 1:35 pm

Wow, Congrats! What are your trip dates finally?

I am hesitating to go to Tokyo alone and I am gathering travel information, very cheap air ticket offers are everywhere now, I dream of departing in May but people say Japan has sale season in July…

Sweet Make Up Temptations 27 April, 2013 - 6:12 am

I cannot go in July, the one possibility for me would be in 3 to 4 weeks so there is no choice for me, I’ll tell you the dates as soon as it’s fixed with the flight 🙂

Gladys L. 27 April, 2013 - 12:31 pm

Never mind, I don’t think brush companies offer sales anytime, But I cannot deny such possibilities for department stores.

One tip you may have known, no tax refund can be provided over cosmetics items, yes, that includes brushes.

I looked for tourist information in these 2 days, very sleepy now.

Hope you can have all booking tasks completed smoothly, For me, flight is super easy, I become exhausted as most hotels I am interested in are full in May, and the price difference between a room for single and double drive me insane. So I am very discouraged by the hotel problem now, even when my brother was kind enough to give me an overnight “talk” about how to plan for a Tokyo trip…

Time is so insufficient, and Japan hotel booking should be done for at least a month in advance. I am afraid my booking task may become a future trip planning act, sadly.

Sweet Make Up Temptations 14 May, 2013 - 7:15 am

Hi Devin, Melissa, and those of you who wanted my first impressions of the Koyudo set 🙂

Managed to convince my bf to stop by at the PO this morning to grab my package, I had to do my “schreck’s cat eyes” that he can’t resist 😛 because he was really in a hurry … anyway… I got it, opened it in the car (my bf is driving!), he looked at me, then at the set and he said “ALL THAT ???!!!!” then I patted them for 40mn …
I think he could see stars in my eyes !!! it was so funny 😛 -he driving, me patting the brushes-

The review will be written in the evening and uploaded today, I took my brush soap and I will wash them here during my break. In the meantime, since you wanted some first impressions, just a few words from heaven :
Comes in a wood box (like the red squirrel brush but bigger), and with a brush roll. The brush roll is fantastic (doesn’t have magnets = great!!!) I don’t really like the feel of the exterior (I am really weird with some materials but the inside is amazing, so helpful because I can put all the brushes, plus the Radiance and my new BIG LOVE the pink Koyudo fan (that I can’t live without anymore…)
For the brushes, the hair is VERY soft, very close to Suqqu cheek brush (some would not see the difference). ¨
I am very happy and satisfied with all the brushes in the set, there is not one I would not recommend actually … it will be a matter of what kind of shape and brush you are looking for.
The little pointy one is so unique, it is still firm but long, I will try them tonight and report back in the review. The big round powder brush (in the middle in the face pic brushes) is something I was looking for (I was going to order the Tanseido similar option but since I am going to Japan I waited).
You will have more details tonight 🙂 I took some prewash pics but with my phone so they are not great but it gives you an idea…. oh and this red vampire handles…. OH DEAR !!!!!!

they are darker but I will take a comparison pic tonight. It’s such a sexy red ! OMG !

I loved at that image of you and your boyfriend in the car! My brother walked in as I was combing my brushes one day. I’d just washed all of them so they were all laid out on the table – he looked at the brushes, looked at me, shook his head and walked back out without saying a word…. hahah!

These brushes… look so…. gorgeous :S

In my first opinion its softer than my fupas but evtl. its because of shape and less dense…
The handle also has tiny sparkles thats nice !
The little plastic brush holder is cute 😀

212kiki I just saw your brush pics up above. I need to get on with the MK2 ordering! The fat eyeshadow brush from the Vivid set, is it for blending?

Reply
212kiki 14 May, 2013 - 6:44 am

Haha 😉 yes the mk2 is beautiful right ?!
I ordered the vivid Set for my friend and she let me took some comperision pics for us so I was only able to take some quick pics.
I think the bigger eye brush could be used for blending but since its more flat than round you can better use its sideways but I think it could be a all rounder 😉
Sorry I only have 3 ! eye brushes so I didn’t take pics with other eye brushes 😀
I think the set is perfect for traveling !

yes it could be similar to the MK2 (although this one may be more round, flat at the top and less dense, but I’ll have to check that tonight, and after wash, the shape could change a bit ! these seem overall less dense but just as soft.. amazing with very pigmented products, I want to play with them now 😛

Reply
Melissa 14 May, 2013 - 7:46 am

I would be soooo tempted to take the day off and play with them ALL DAY 🙂
Wonder if the softness is the same as their Red Squirrel.

I am home already today, I had to take my car to the technical expertise … happy to be home early for once !
but I have news… the red of the handle is exactly the same red as the Red Squirrel brush ! I really didn’t think it was ! definitely prefer when it’s paired with black ferrules !
They aren’t 100% dry yet 🙁 just need to wait a little bit for the pics 🙂

Working overtime to afford my addiction!

My new babies arrived today: the 2 Lovely brushes, Sakurado pink fan, blush and eyebrow brushes! Will update my pics and email them to u! First impression of the Lovely’s: silky goat hair, maybe as soft as the Houkudou, which is softer than Koyudo! Sakurado: pink fan not as densed as I hoped but def very soft, but for the 1500 Yen I paid for it its def worth the wait! The blush brush (mix of gray squirrel & soft goat) is also extremely soft with just the perfect density for less pigmented/light colored blushes.

I’ll be watching my phone all night 🙂 even if its past midnight I will read yr review 🙂 🙂 THAAAANKS!!!

Sweet Make Up Temptations 14 May, 2013 - 6:01 pm

your new brushes sound terrific !!! even the fan, waw what a nice surprise !
I hope I will be able to finish soon.. but in the meantime look at this : http://sweetmakeuptemptations.files.wordpress.com/2013/05/koyudoset.jpg

Melissa 14 May, 2013 - 7:17 pm

Aaaaaa THANK YOU for making me drool again 🙂
Wish they made the handles in burgundy red like the lip brush or even glossy black to make them stand out among the others! Maybe u could suggest that when meeting Koyudo 🙂
Maybe they just had ‘left over paint’ from the Red Squirrel….hahaha
Oh u have to ask them if they are planning on designing new red squirrel brushes! A nice powder red squirrel would be verrrrry nice 🙂

So far they all look sooooo beautiful!!!! Somexcited for the comparison pics! Thank youuuuu!!!

But also the red black combo looks great and we’re able to order them separately thats great from koyudo too !!

Sonia, I got a couple of brushes from Kashoen in the regular Kashoen line, and they are so, so, so soft and feel amazing! You should check these out when you’re in Japan!

I don’t own it but hell yes I would love to!!! I saw it at the Shu counter when I bought my 5R brush last month. The SA swatched an eyeshadow with it. Let’s just say I was in awe…… O_O

Bea! U were able to resist the Shu 15 in real life?! Dont think I would, esp after seeing it action 🙂

Sonia, of course u have to get this gem. Just close yr eyes and press OK when they swipe yr credit card at the cashier 🙂 it will be painless and dont pay too much attention to yr card statement when u get back. Its just nrs, yr brushes are priceless 🙂 Im planning to do the same … LOL

@ Melissa, I have it, but I honestly hardly ever use it. It’s way too big for me to use as an eye shadow brush. I only ever use it for highlighter application, but I guess it would be good for cream products & contouring.

THANK YOU FOR THE PICS BUGGSIE!!!! I dont see it on US website though and on the Japan Shu it costs 25.200 Yen 🙁 boooo hooooooo……..

SHU US website has a 20% off promo plus free shipping until May 21, so I went straight on line, hoping to find the Shu 15! NOT! anyway, then I went for the Shu 11, which is also pure kolinsky, then I found out they dont accept cards issued outside the US. Darn 🙁 Guess they force us to buy from the France or UK website, which is more expensive!

Not my lucky brush day today!!

Shu uemura certainly doesn’t make it easy for any European country other than the UK or France to access it’s products. Even if you order off their online shop, they don’t ship out of country which means that you either have to ask friends based in the UK / France to help you or you need to use a forwarding company. Space NK and Liberty sell Shu but they have very few brushes & don’t stock the # 15 at all 🙁
If you decide to use a UK forwarding co, then try myukmailbox.com. It’s the one I use.
…..or ask one of our US based ladies to help you out??? 😉
