Behind the scenes – About Restocks

by Sonia G.

I have just updated the News and Restocks page and I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you, you are so patient and kind, and we are all so grateful for your understanding!

Some of you are already very familiar with Fude (handmade brushes) and you know that restocking handmade brushes is not a quick and easy process, but I would love to share a brief insight about our own restock processes, what they involve for us, and how they impact you as a customer. Since there are so many restocks currently on the horizon, I think today is a good opportunity to do so!

Demand planning

The first step we try to aim for is to make sure we have enough stock in the first place – In the case of non-limited Fude, we try to estimate demand and place reasonably large orders wherever possible. We don’t deliberately try to sell out for marketing reasons. Although we know there is a possibility of selling out quickly, we have to work out the demand during the first few days of sales and then, if necessary place a restock order.

For limited Fude, where we see lots of demand, we try to go back to the suppliers and see if we can do something – maybe we can find an extra lot of very high quality hair, or maybe we put the reorder on hold for a while (in some cases a few years) until we can get the quality we wish to achieve.

Artisan made brushes take time to make

Not all Fude require the same production time. Our handles and ferrules are also made in Japan from start to finish, this adds months to the process. We have brushes with long handles and brushes with short handles but the artisan processes behind are the same, with the exact same complexity and craftsmanship. It’s not because a handle is shorter, that it will take less effort and less time – it’s actually often the other way round so there is no saving on costs or on time on the little ones!

Not all Fude cost the same to produce

For me, a brush is more than a tool and I want each brush to be special – I am aware that not everyone will be onboard with all the designs as we all have our own preferences, but it is what I aim for and the fun thing about it is that the manufacturers absolutely know that about me. This comes with a cost because a native keyaki handle is going to be exponentially more expensive than a simple handle, also the dimensional coating like the red-black gradient that we have follows the same exponential rule, same again for the walnut-tonoko handle for the Fundamentals. Not easy and definitely not cheap.

Unfortunately most restocks (for equivalent quality brushes) tend to go up in price – Wherever possible we try to limit the impact to the final price as much as possible, but unfortunately prices do have to be increased over time- and we have to evaluate the demand at the new price point and order accordingly. Sometimes the restock will make no sense at the new price-point, so we have then to decide if we keep it or not.

It goes without saying that we retest (and often reject) samples at this point to make sure the new batches meet the hair and build quality along with the properties the Fude was originally designed for.

Once the financial aspect is sorted, production starts!

The handles are the first to start production as these take several months. Production stages move forward and processes move alongside and they all have to coincide in the allocated windows, artisans are booked for the processes and the materials need to arrive on time. If something is delayed, it will impact the whole schedule.

The other challenges

When we restock a certain brush, there is a minimum order quantity – as with any brand or type of product.
But we also face other challenges because our brushes are either bundled with special mixes, or treated using special dyes. For example, the persimmon dyed bristles can only be dyed by hand by one artisan, if he is away or not available, we cannot restock these brushes. The Fusion mix is a very special mix that needs to have all the right bristles mixed to a very specific feel and function. Also, the brown dyed bristles (like the Buffer Pro) are more complex to obtain and we cannot restock those brushes whenever we want.

All these factors have a direct impact on how regularly we can restock our brushes or if we can restock them at all.

What it means

It’s a bit like saying that all stars need to align for some of our brushes to be able to come back in stock. Sometimes we need a long time for this to happen. We also always listen to your interest and your feedback, and it helps me put pressure on all parties so that they align as quickly as possible. Today we are really excited to share some examples of what is restocking soon!

The Original Fundamentals Trio

We were exceptionally able to bring these Original Fundamentals back in stock for a limited time in November 2024, and we could bring them back again a couple of times after they sold out. It seems that after the last sell out, there was still a very high demand for them.
Following to your requests, these three special brushes are coming back once more this October 2025. Unfortunately, this is the last restock possible but it’s thanks to your messages that these were able to come back again so thank you so much!!!

PENCIL ONE, SMUDGER ONE, CREASE ONE

The Mini Keyakis

The Mini Keyaki Vol 1 set (and individuals) is coming back in October 2025.

We were able to put these little handles in production again and while short handles were not that exciting when they first launched, today there is a huge demand for them!

MINI KEYAKI VOL. 1

The Mini Keyaki Sheer Buffer will also be back at the same time as the Mini Keyaki Vol.1 brushes.

MINI KEYAKI SHEER BUFFER

Traditions TF4

A small restock of the TF4 should also hopefully be back in October 2025!

TRADITIONS TF4

Pro and Sky brushes

The PRO eye set is finally coming back in October 2025!

These brushes have been out of stock for a very long time, we are thrilled that this set will be back again!

PRO EYE SET

We are also finally able to bring back all the brushes from the Sky Eye set, the Soft Shader has been out of stock for several years now.

For natural bristles, a huge challenge is to maintain the same quality restock after restock, and it was my decision to not restock it until it could be a SOFT Shader again.

SKY EYE SET

This Detail Pro has been out of stock for quite a while. Finally, we were also able to bring it back for the October restock. If you were waiting for it, it would be the best time to get it. There are quite a few brushes changing in 2026, it’s amazing to continue to evolve and work on beautiful projects, but unfortunately it also means that we won’t be able to keep all the current brushes in the collection.

DETAIL PRO

The Fusion

We were going to entirely discontinue the Fusion brushes (except for just a couple of them), but it seems that they are really loved and used, so we pushed for another restock.

The Jumbo Concealer truly stands out for its incredible softness paired with quite a dense bundling. The surface is twice the size of the Soft Concealer and has less movement in the bristles, but it remains so incredibly soft on the skin.
The messages to restock it kept coming, so this is another great restock surprise!

JUMBO BASE, JUMBO CONCEALER

The Buffers

These two Buffers have always been bestsellers, we try to follow with the restock of these two brushes but the process always takes quite a lot of time.

The Smooth Buffer has been out of stock for quite a while, but thanks to your messages and interest, we are so happy that we managed to include it this time!

BUFFER PRO, SMOOTH BUFFER

Please take a look at this page for a detailed list of all our upcoming restocks and the planned dates. We truly appreciate your continued support and patience — it means so much to all of us! Your support allows us to continue crafting exceptional brushes, evolve and blend innovation with traditional techniques, and we’re so thrilled about all the exciting changes and new launches coming in 2026!

All our brushes and accessories are only available on Beautylish. You are also kindly invited to leave reviews on Beautylish’s website – should you have time or wish to do so! This is one of our key customer feedback and decision making tools – if the reviews are good, we are more confident in reordering and are able to order in larger batches. Without reviews, even if the Fude sell out quickly, we don’t necessarily have the confidence or the leverage to order quickly.

If you have any questions or would like to request a specific restock, please do not hesitate to reach out! Thank you!

Well, I’m just here to shill your products for you, because I like them

Friends, I have the following brushes pictured on this page: Jumbo Base, Jumbo Concealer, Soft Buffer, Buffer Pro, Worker Pro, Pencil Pro, Builder Pro, Pencil One, Crease One, and all of Keyaki vol. 1.

There’s not a bad brush in the bunch. If I had to pick five, I’d pick Jumbo Base and Jumbo Concealer, Crease One, Keyaki Flat Definer, and Keyaki Mini Booster. Soft Buffer only misses out because I love Attack Pompom even more (Sonia calls it Master Face). I highly recommend it, though. You should probably just buy what you like, though. It’s really a bunch of great brushes.

Hi Diana! I thank you so so much for your help and enthusiasm!!! 😀 and also, thank you for sharing your thoughts and feedback on these brushes, I feel that pompom brushes are the most comforting brushes, so functional and so beautiful to look at! And it’s funny you talk about the Master Face, I have been using it every day for blush for the past two weeks 😀 Sending you lots of love from Switzerland!!!
