I am back from my trip to Japan. I would have wished this trip had been longer so I could have spend more time there with my family and my friends. This trip was quite unbelievable actually, and I had to pinch myself everyday! I cannot wait to share more about it, so please kindly stay tuned!
I wanted to share a Sonia G update earlier, but it’s only after this trip to Japan that I finally have a bit more clarity on the ongoing production and deadlines.
This update is based on your most frequently asked questions. Please do not hesitate to get in touch in the comments below if you have any questions!

When are the Fundamental eye brushes coming?
They are coming in November 2023, finally! We are now getting everything ready for the launch and you will soon be able to see them in full and read all the details about each one of them!
There are 8 brushes in total: 4 are brand new designs, 4 are brushes that existed in the first Fundamentals. All the brushtes complement each other logically and together they offer a very functional nuance in size, in strength and precision. I think that they are amazing workhorses, fun little gems designed to be key tools for everyday use.

Do you have something planned for the holiday?
Yes I do. The collection may arrive a bit later than usual for a holiday release, we are aiming for a December release and the artisans are working very hard to make it happen!
Unfortunately, it’s too soon to talk about these pieces today, and show them here, but I can say that I wanted this collection to be and to feel extremely special, almost like a dream come true – and it is for me.
We combined innovation, craftsmanship, functionality, adding a special detail or a unique feature at every step of the process. This was such an intense and fun journey and we all sincerely hope that you will love what we created!

When is the Sheer Buffer coming back?
I have very good news, it’s coming back in November 2023! Probably around mid-November but it depends on when it’s delivered.
There is an email link on the brush page to be notified when it’s back in stock.
Thank you so much for your patience and for your amazing feedback on this Sheer Buffer!

Are the Mini Niji and the Mini Buffer coming back?
I have received a lot of messages asking me to bring these back, so we managed to start production for some more, but I cannot confirm the timeline yet. Hopefully before the end of 2023.
There is a link on each brush’s page to sign up and be notified of the restock. For the Mini Niji here and for the Mini Buffer here.

Are the Fusion face brushes coming back?
These brushes were not supposed to be Limited Edition, but there are some changes coming next year and this will have an impact on the availability of some brushes.
I have received many messages about the Fusion face brushes, thank you so much for contacting me! I am doing my very best to see if we can keep some of these in the collection. It’s too soon to confirm but I am working on it and I will keep you posted as soon as I can.

When is the Walnut Brush Holder coming back in stock?
Very soon, it is in transit to Beautylish so hopefully in October, probably in about a week or so.
There is a link on the Brush Holder page to be notified as soon as it is back in stock.
I am so grateful that you are here with me, thank you so much!! Thanks to all your love and support we are able to work on very special projects, next year will be quite amazing and together with the artisans, we are so excited and we hope that you will love what is to come!
With love,
Sonia

Your trip sounds amazing, Iām so glad! How wonderful to be able to share it with your daughter. Iām excited to see what you have in store for us for the holidays! I love my walnut brush holder, I was lucky enough to get the limited edition one for Christmas from my husband. ~ Charli
Hi Charli! I hope you are doing very well! Yes it was completely crazy to be there with them! Your husband sounds so kind, please say hello from me and a huge thank you to him! š lots of love and hugs to you!
Hi Sonia,
Thanks for the update on your brushes. Canāt wait to see the new brushes and use them. All I have to say is please bring back the Jumbo Base, itās the best foundation brush I have ever used. Iām waiting for it to come back in stock so I can purchase 2 backups. Theyāre just that good. Love the pictures from Japan also.
Hi Koren,
I take note of your feedback, I am trying and I thank you so so so much for sharing your thoughts. I will update you as soon as I can!
Please take care and talk to you soon!
Hello Sonia! I would LOVE to see a mini smooth buffer as well š maybe as a part of Keyaki 3 set. Thank you for all updates; canāt wait to see what you have for us!
Hi Ekaterina! thank you! š I cannot wait to share more! <3
Iām so stoked to see what the Holiday Collection will have. Already on the list for the Keyaki brushes for when they come back in stock.
Is there any chance the Lotus Set will be restocked? I have the Base and Cheek brushes from the set I bought last month and I would love to get the rest of the set! I never knew what o was missing when it came to Fude brushes. They donāt irritate my sensitive skin and just these two brushes can help me do most of my makeup application. I also purchased the Keyaki Mini v2 as a result.
I can feel the passion and care that went into each design with the exceptional craftsmanship of the tools.
So excited to see whatās to come.
Hi Victoria,
Thank you so so much!!!
The Lotus set will not be restocked unfortunately, so sorry about that. However, new brushes will be launched in the near future. Maybe already in the Fundamental eye brushes you will see that there is a similar builder and worker. I hope you will love those ones. I also have extremely sensitive skin and cannot stand rough brushes at all, applying make-up at the beauty counters is not even an option for me unfortunately, so I know what you mean and softness is always a priority! Thank you again so very much for your kind comment, it helps me a lot and I hugely appreciate it! big hugs!
Hi, Sonia!
Great news about the brushes! What about your ā Companion Case Collectionā, do you know when will be restocked??
Hi Yanely,
I am working on this! Unfortunately, I don’t know when but I would say that it’s worth the wait! thank you so so much for your love, your support and your patience!!! Take care of yourself and talk soon!
Such a fabulous trip! I cannot wait to see the new eye set.
Hi Isabel! thank you so much! I cannot wait to share! Big hugs!!
I am going to really try my hardest to get these new brushes. I love the quality and materials, but mostly, I love how you put your heart and soul into everything you make. Itās the beauty INSIDE as well as OUTSIDE THAT MAKES IT TRULY OUTSTANDING !! I only have 3. And it breaks my heart seeing them and not being able to get them. Your truly an artist. The knowledge you bring shoes on all.
Hi Louise, how are you doing?? I hope you are going strong! I am always thinking of you and when I feel down or sad, I always remember that amazing people like you are here and it gives me so much energy! Thank you, I appreciate you taking time to leave me your comment here and for always supporting me with all your heart, I am truly blessed! Sending you lots of love!!!
I’m excited for the fundamental eye brushes! A few remind me of last year’s holiday trio set which I adore (squirrel is amazing). I’m also excited for the restock of brush holder, although I need about 3… But I wanted to make a suggestion for a specific brush to use with Guerlain meteorites. I know many use the buffer brushes, but I feel like a larger flat top medium dense brush works best for quickly smoothing all over the face. Currently I’m using the all over powder brush by It Cosmetics (211) but I’d love to have a Sonia G brush. Nevertheless, I’m super anxious to see what’s coming for holiday!! Much love as always
Thank you Cindy!! yes there are a few exciting things to come, thank you so much for your kind comment!!! I don’t have something like that yet, (I don’t onw that particular IT brush so I can’t say for sure but it looks like the closest in density could be the Face Pro, but it’s a totally different shape anyway!
If you don’t mind please keep in touch and let me know what you think of the holiday release š thank you!!!! hugs!!
Hi Sonia, definitely looking forward to the restocks and holiday brushes!!! I had a question, I’m giving the Haus Labs bronzer as gifts to a few people. I experimented applying it with the sheer buffer which is pretty nice. Preferred it to the Master Face. However the Fundamental Soft Buffer catches my eye since one of these ladies has a small face. Would it apply the bronzer too strongly though? I like the Haus Labs since it looks super natural, I’m just unsure if the Soft Buffer could require using more effort to get the same effect? Also, what is your view on using it for cream blushes?
One more thing. I’ve noticed sites are no longer posting ferrule sizes for their brushes. The same is true with some not specifying the grade of goat hair used. Why is it this way now?
Hi Lisa, there are several reasons and answers to your question. But just to make sure, you are talking about brushes and companies that make their brushes in Japan, right?
Ferrule sizes: well, there are several reasons. One is related to the fact that the ferrules are pressed my hand, not using the hands obviously, but it’s a manual process and once pressed or pinched, each ferrule differs slightly, this is normal and within tolerance margins. But to avoid complains etc, they avoid to write it. I try to mention it and say “approx” in the tables, as it’s not a surgical precision.
Another reason is more linked to the protection, of themselves or the OEM customer they work with. There are many companies or people who tend to copy brushes and use their similar specs. If the original companies don’t disclose the sizes, it’s going to make the task of copying more tricky. There is quite a lot of work and cost linked to the development of a brush, so copying someone else’s design is not something they encourage.
I always try to disclose the size of my ferrules because I know that the customer who gets my brushes, may potentially have several, and it’s useful to know if there is any difference in size to whatever they may eventually own, but I also know that some use these specs to replicate my brushes, it’s a delicate topic.
Regarding the grade of goat hair: I think that the main reason is to avoid complaints related to the softness expected from a certain grade.
It’s difficult to maintain the same quality within the same grade as time passes, quality decreases and it’s not something they can control. If the hair quality decreases with time, maybe the manufacturer cannot keep the same grade name because we cannot compare saikoho from 2023 to saikoho from 2010, there is a big difference in how soft it may feel. If they just mention “goat” in their description, then the customers does not expect the goat bristles to feel like saikoho from 2010. This doesn’t apply to all manufacturers or all OEM customers, because not all aim to use “saikoho” or the best quality available.
I think that there should be a different ranking process for the bristles, not based on a name but instead on technical specs (width, flexibility or waviness of the bristles), because there are many “saikoho” grades and they range from saibikoho kind of feel, to sokoho feel.
I don’t know if this answers your question? talk to you soon and take care!! <3
