It was challenging to smoothly continue the manufacturing during these past months and so difficult to estimate the readiness of each project or restock.
You are always so kind and patient and I do thank you very much on behalf of everyone involved!

THE NEW BASE ONE
We have the Fundamental Set finally back, it comes with an updated version of the previous “Base One”. For the moment, this Base One is only available in this set but it will also be available individually as soon as possible.
The previous Base One was created to cover as many “base” type of tasks as possible. That previous bristle combination, hakutotsuho goat and PBT synthetic, felt quite firm at the top, this was to give it more strength and work with thicker foundations or more stubborn cream products.
The new Base One looks quite similar but has been redesigned and bundled with different bristles.
Actually, foundation brushes are the most difficult brushes to create, our skin, our products, the coverage we expect to obtain and the speed or precision we need, are unique to each and everyone of us, it’s tricky to find a foundation brush that fits us all in an equal manner.
As an OEM, we have to work with what the manufacture can obtain or has in stock, often we cannot just “chose” whatever bristles we have in mind, or create whatever shape or mix we envision. We have to work with the bristles and techniques they have. They are excellent, but some technical or logistics limitations do exist.
Ideally, I would love to split the “base” functionality into two different brushes so that they better fit their purpose. The first brush would provide a more sheer application of foundation and be more appropriate to work with cream blush/bronzer/sculpting, and it is this Base One. The second brush would deliver medium to high coverage with foundation, and this brush will actually come.
This new Base One is now bundled with sokoho goat and nylon. It feels softer, more flexible and has more movement at the surface compared to the previous version. Both the natural and the synthetic bristles on this brush are much finer, it will be extremely gentle on sensitive skin and will not emphasize dry patches.
The fine bristles are still nicely dense, which helps a lot with the blending, this mix and density will allow you to control the intensity and then blend smoothly without moving or altering the layers underneath.
The technique to use with this brush depends on what products you are applying and what area you wish to work on. I like to use it with short strokes, stippling and moving the stroke in the direction I wish to blend.
Versus the old Base one, this newer version is just a bit smaller in diameter but has very slightly longer bristles. The core of the brush is bundled with slightly shorter sokoho goat bristles and the longer bristles are nylon.
Nylon bristles do not tend to stick as much together, compared to other synthetic fibers, for example PBT, so it will continue to perform even when it’s reused “dirty”. These brushes that we use with cream products still need to be washed more frequently, versus brushes that we use with powder products, but the “fluffiness” is preserved for longer.
My advice is to remove the excess product of any type of brush gently on a towel after you have used it, this will help to extend its life span.
The measurements of the new Base One:
- Total Length: 162 mm
- Hair Length: 22 mm
- Ferrule Width: 20 mm
- Hair Type: Sokoho Goat Hair & Nylon
In the near future, but not in this restock, there is a little new brush coming, it is likely to happen in September but I will share more details about it as soon as I can, I sincerely hope you’ll love it as much as I do!
Then I believe that the Detail Pro, Cheek Pro and Fan Pro shouldn’t be too far from restock… we will get there! Beyond that, it’s still pretty unclear what comes when, so let’s see how it goes further down the line during this quite spectacular scary year.
I hope you are all doing well, that you can find a way to stay happy and that your family and loved ones are well and nearby, this helps a lot.
I am looking forward to better days and to travelling again, I miss Japan and I miss my family so let’s stay safe and hope for a better second half of the year!
If you would like to sign up for the restock email, please enter your details here on the Beautylish website, I sincerely appreciate your patience and will never thank you enough!!
