Sky Face Set – The FAQ

by Sonia G.

I have been gathering the questions you left on my Instagram page, there are quite a few so I think a post might be better to cover them all!

I will start sharing pictures and details about each brush very soon, very excited that we reached this milestone and extremely happy and feeling utterly blessed that they are receiving such a warm welcome!

I saw duplicated questions, so I answer only once, hopefully I covered all these first questions but you know where to find me if you have more 🙂 The questions related to other topics will be covered directly on the Insta post.

The Sky FAQ

When do they launch?
I cannot confirm the exact date right now but we should be less than a week away!

Reveal please?
Yes… here they are :)))
I will share more pictures and a precise description of each brush, but this is how they look front and sideways 🙂

What is their price?
The Sky Face set comes with 5 brushes and costs 270 USD.

Will they be sold as a set, individually, or both?
They will be sold as a set to start with due to the quantity produced. If there is love and interest, we will produce more and they will be released as singles in the future. I am a small brand, therefore I cannot make huge orders at the very beginning but if things go well, then for sure they will also be available individually.

Are the handles shorter in this set or is there anything specific to the form that was done to make it travel friendly? Does it come with a case?
In my humble opinion, there are two types of “travel friendly” brushes when it comes to form.
The first type are the brushes easy to pack (not overly long, not heavy or thick), but ergonomically comfortable for a regular or more demanding use.
The second type are the brushes that have shorter handles for an easy transport in smaller pouches or tiny make-up bags for touch-ups.
With the Sky series, we are talking about the first type.
The handle is not the main reason why these brushes are travel friendly, it’s more about their shape and their versatility.

They don’t come with a case, just yet. I had many comments about cases since the very beginning and I heard you 🙂 This is a huge topic for me that I have been researching and working on very very hard. I will not add a case with a set, if it ever comes, it will be sold separately.

Are you only offering these as a set only? I wish you would offer them for individual sale right from the start because a lot of people only want one or two and do not want to buy a set. Then we have to wait to see if/when you will sell the individually.
They will be sold as a set for now due to the quantity produced, unfortunately when you are a small brand there are things you cannot realistically do at the beginning of a product launch. However, just like the Pro set, if the brushes are in demand, there will be more and of course available as singles. I am crossing my fingers that they get lots of love and that I can reorder 🙂 I completely understand your point though, I wish I could do that. Because these brushes are shapes that never existed before, there is also a higher risk at the launch that unfortunately I have to consider.

Is the set limited edition?
It will not be limited edition as long as there is interest 🙂

What kind of hairs of the brushes?
They are all goat bristles, 4 are saikoho and 1 hakutotsuho. I will share more details when I post about each brush!

Will you make a small tutorial about how to use them?
I have been trying to do so but it did not work out for the launch, however I am planning something for the future. In the meantime I will give you lots of info on how to use them. I will do my best to share with you as many tips and tricks that I can.

It looks like all the brushes are face brushes?”
Yes, the set launching now is only about face brushes but the eye set is coming next 🙂

Are you suggesting that this “set” is enough for travel? Even without eye brushes??
There is one face set released now and one eye set coming in the near future.
With regards to the face set, it depends on how many steps your routine involves. There is no liquid/cream foundation brush in the set so you may need a foundation brush or a sponge or your fingertips, depending on what type of foundation you use. There are many reasons why I did not include this brush in this set but I will share those reasons later.
You can either pick all the brushes in this set for your trip or your daily routine, or just one or two. They are just ideal on the go because they are extremely effortless. I am thinking of all the trips where I was too tired or sick to even want to use make-up, but hopefully when I share more details about each brush it will make more sense. I cannot wait to do so!

Are they new shapes?
Yes they are all new shapes. Some may look familiar or similar but they definitely are not.

I wanted to know are these as luxurious as the burgundy handles or better? Same price tags?
They are more luxurious than the burgundy handles in the sense that they cost even more to make. It’s the same wood, but there is more complex work involved and also an additional layer in the lacquer which contains sparkles, and those little micro particles are truly insanely expensive! We managed to keep the price of the Sky Face set the same as the Pro Face set, but the Sky Eye set will be just a little bit more expensive than the Pro Eye set. On top of the more special handles, there was also more technical effort to make the heads and resulted quite more expensive.

Other point of sales? They don’t ship to my country.
For the moment, other point of sales are not planned. I am really happy to work with Beautylish, they have excellent customer service and such great shipping conditions. I spoke about the shipping topic to Nils (Beautylish’ CEO), if Beautylish does not ship to your country, please leave me your country below, Nils would like to check what he can do about it.

Original vs Pro vs Sky? What are the main differences?
I’ll try to explain the differences between the collections but it will make more sense when I address each brush individually.
The Original collection was designed for the brush collector, with unique designs that would complement an already existing collection. They were created to fulfil a specific task or role.

The Pro brushes were designed to work with lots of control and precision, to save you time and take you very quickly to the desired intensity and to impeccable results.

The Sky brushes are the easiest to adopt, especially when you are in a rush or when the circumstances aren’t ideal. They smoothly help you calibrate your application and offer flawless results with no pain and no effort.

The brushes don’t replace each other, some brushes may look similar but they will differ in density, size or material.

If you are a collector and you already have a large collection of handmade brushes, you may want to have a look at the Original series. The brushes were inspired by the shapes I could never find or a functionality that I thought wasn’t yet covered.

The Pro series are quite strong and determined when it comes to placement and blending. They will tend to be more directional and more dense compared to similar shaped brushes.

The Sky series are easier to handle from beginner level up to the most expert skilled artist.
Compared to the Pro series, you can more gradually build up the application, both in terms of precision and intensity.

I hope these answers are useful and that you are still interested, thank you for your insanely kind support!!

Hi Al, I am not sure how they preorder it (if Beautylish contacts them or if they contact Beautylish, seems like both options) but please kindly contact Beautylish at this email : service@beautylish.com
I hope they are able to help you! Thank you so much!!!

I am allergic to whatever is used in the dyed and mixed dyed brushes. Hoping you will someday release an undyed Inochige and Detail Pro brushes. Possibly even the newest Sky large mixed face brush. It would be nice to know what they are dyed with/how to find out what it is I am actually allergic to. The undyed, I have no reaction with.

Beautylish don’t ship over $250, it’s a restriction from their carrier (I’m assuming this is the case for all international orders not just for New Zealand customers) so unfortunately we’re instantly excluded from being able to purchase these sets. Can you bear this in mind when you plan your releases, I understand cost involved and that is why you only release small portions until you’ve sold them but it could be 6 months or more before you release them individually which is where I would be able to actually be able to make a purchase, then we have to hope they don’t all sell out by the time we make orders as again Beautylish only allow 1 order per day. It’s just a bit disappointing this process, if you had a small portion set aside for individual sales, even if it was first in first served it would be better for those of us not in USA.

Cheers
Siobhan

While I appreciate your response to my specific question about selling your brushes individually to start, I just hate that because I do not want an entire set…..you have come out with two so far, that I am penalized because I only want or can afford one or two. I only want the Master Face. If you had come out with this set first, I would have purchased it, but I already have similar brushes from prior collections. I started to talk myself into buying the whole collection but stopped myself because I have two of your gorgeous fan brushes already, several other face brushes which I adore, so I guess I will wait to see if the Master Face brush comes out on its own. I know this will be a successful launch because these brushes are stunning.
