Be-wa-re, do not try to do this at home. I am serious, having so many brushes is not a necessity and it will never be… unless it helps you find happiness. It does help me, not because I am a superficial junkie but mainly because my passion triggered the creation of this blog and it just could not get better, the insane community of truly amazing friends gathered around this topic is just as passionate and genuine. “I am what I am because of who we all are.” As simple as that.
In the past I have done so many student jobs, from modelling to working in hospitals, working in a radio, or in restaurants, some of these jobs were either volunteering or to pay for part of my studies, I usually get bored very easily unless I keep myself busy at all times. Despite everything I did in the past during my free time I never had as much fun as I have today and I can’t thank you enough. You keep me busy and I love that!
I don’t think I have the largest collection in the world because I know some collectors live in the shadows, I talked to a few of them in MakeupAlley so I know they exist, they may not own as many Japanese brands but they do own just as many brushes as I do -I think, but I am not betting my brushes on it either! 😀
I am really looking forward to having the studio ready for the final furniture and decoration but they still have to break the walls, the floor, move the windows, ALL of it still has to be done. I am tired of waiting, I just want to grab the tools and do it myself! The dust has calmed down but still, no way I am leaving the brushes in holders at the moment. I had to find a safer temporary solution : the Ikea Alex drawer unit.
I got it last week, built it myself in under one hour and couldn’t wait to start filling it with brushes! Well, that was close, just enough room, for the majority. The Hakuhodo S series (3) didn’t make it but since I love to look at them for the moment they are outside the drawers, I’ll find some room for them in my other dresser. I took the smaller version of this Besta Burs since the longer one does not fit for now… In glossy white of course … love it!
The kabukis (2) are stored under muffin bells (most of the kabukis anyway). For the rest of the brush collection it fits in the 6 Alex drawers, I will today open the drawers for you, one by one, if you are ready for it… take a deep breath.
First drawer
I need to be able to access the brushes really very quickly, it’s better for me to order them by brand or by series rather than by functionality. Except for the little eyeliners and concealer brushes, these I prefer to just have them together so that they don’t get lost in the mass.
- Little powder puffs from Yojiya and Guerlain. Mineral goat kabuki brush from Jill Stuart (it sheds but I like it and it’s just soft enough to use).
- The very big and delicate brushes from Suqqu or from the Chikuhodo Z series.
- RMK, Lunasol, Addiction and on the left, the portable Chikuhodo brush Mr Takemori gave me when I met him during my visit. Since I got a few questions about this brush I have to tell you that this brush is only available in Hiroshima but Melissa shared a link of this company where I found a similar one here but nor sure if that’s exactly the same in terms of softness.
- Jill Stuart (I have two blushes and these are the two portable brushes that came with the blushes), even if they are not extraordinary they are actually quite useful if you happen to have one, it’s great to keep them.
- Pine squirrel brushes from Chikuhodo
- The Chikuhodo Temari and the amazing G-9.
- These are all extraordinary soft brushes, Suqqu, Chikuhodo, Kyureido or the little Chicca (I haven’t reviewed that one yet…)
- Tom Ford… loving all of them except for the little eyeliner which is a bit too firm and can hurt a little bit.
- Various Chikuhodos, G, Gs, GSN or other misc series. I have a few others pending in an order at the moment with Malin (Kohlido).
Second drawer
- The Koyudo Fu-Pas and more… maybe it’s a good thing that the handles are short (specially for storage reasons!) but I do prefer longer handles if I had to choose.
- Misc eyeshadow brushes (not necessarily only Koyudo ones, there is a bit of everything)
- The Kihitsu foundation (on the right), the Koyudo Mickey (on the left) and some kabukis that I don’t use very often.
- Koyudo squirrel red set plus some other brands with red handles. By the way, I have great news regarding the Kashoen. I will tell you soon exactly what happened but as you may know Melissa went to Japan to their boutique with a mission… she took my Kashoen brushes to see if they could explain why the quality was not 100% satisfactory. Melissa already told me how it went and I will have excellent news for the Kashoen fans-to-come, I am just waiting to make sure I can publicly tell what happened over there 😉
- Fans! love them, want more.
- Koyudo BP series, amazing, the goat brushes are devilishly efficient and the squirrel brushes are supremely divine.
Third drawer
- These are not all Hakuhodo J Series, there is also a few G series lost in there. I went crazy when they were released and I got a lot of them… I thought planet earth had just lost it, but it was just me.
- Hakuhodo and Chomotto with colorful handles, it’s just good for the eyes that they are all gathered together. I love the champagne handles they have in Japan for the J series. On the USA website you can get only black handles (I think) but in Japan they have so many different handles. If you want your brushes with different handles just ask Hakuhodo, they may be able to import them for you.
- Hakuhodo G or B series or K… a bit of everything actually.
- Concealer and eyeliner brushes, all brands mixed together so that I don’t need to look for them when I need them.
- Hakuhodo J series eyeshadow brushes. Some are duplicated because I use them a lot.
Fourth drawer
- Hakuhodo misc series face brushes. The gold pink are from a winter set.
- Misc Kabukis (MUFE and R&R), when I did not had so many kabukis I loved them and I still find they are nice kabukis.
- Misc blush or foundation brushes. If you zoom you can see the brands. Oh you can also see some Piccasso brushes ther but Koyudo BP series or Hakuhodo J series are way above them. Not impressed by the brand and not impressed (at all) by their customer services. I do love the brush pouch they sent me with my big fat Piccasso order but other than that, I have tried to contact them (politely) so many times by phone or email and spent so much energy with them ! I still send them an email from time to time just to see if their customer services will get better one day and reply to me, but there is no reaction so far.
- Shu Uemura collection (I also have the big face brush but it’s too floppy and I don’t use it at all).
- Misc eyeshadow brushes from any brand, Paula Dorf, Sephora, Laura Mercier, Addiction, EB, Charlotte Tilbury, Mac, Sigma, Nars, Chanel, Burberry, etc … The only one I don’t use is the Burberry slanted actually but any of the others gets to work, some I could get rid of them but it’s very useful to have them for reviews or comparisons. I love the Mac 239 since the first day I got it, I still use it today and often on daily basis.
Fifth drawer
Wood party theme!
- Make up forever brushes, today I use only the round eyeshadow brushes for cream eyeshadow application but they are all kept together, the face brushes are just at the back.
- Billy B, Bobbi Brown, Rae Morris…
- Ebony brushes from Evgeny, Hakuhodo and Yojiya.
- RM Radiance(ssss), Yachiyos, other Hakuhodos and mini brushes.
- Rae Morris punished brushes, the only way to keep them from sticking to each other is to tie them up.
Sixth drawer
- Tanseido brushes, you can get them with longer or shorter handles and with black, blue or red handles. Amazing quality hair for their squirrel and white goat brushes.
- Trish McEvoy, not bad at all (some are a bit too scratchy). Before I started with the Japanese brands these were amongst the best I had.
- Misc Chanel or Sephora brushes (and Sephora professional surpasses Chanel here…)
- In these compartments, there is a bit of everything, synthetic or natural brushes that I use but not on a regular basis. I do like them so I keep them available at all times.
- The Louise Young powder brush and the Illamasqua could host an entire life inside them. The LY 07s I use it on the face but the Illamasqua is for body application of bronzer or highlight, or you could use it as a pillow if you are stranded in the wild.
This is what didn’t make it inside my drawers because I don’t use them right now. Sorry some little eyeshadow brushes are dirty but I didn’t had time to wash these and I am preparing a post about cleaning where I am going to experiment with them :
That’s it, once I’ll have my final studio ready I will reorganize the storage and I may share again….
What next ?
I won’t order many more brushes for now – I have just a few in my basket but I won’t need a second Alex dresser for now that’s for sure!
I have a few lemmings or curiosities, like the new Becca that looks like the RM Radiance or the Eihodo brand or the Artisan&Artist or… (I could carry on for hours believe me). No, this will never end.
Wayne’s brushes will arrive soon and join my beloved family and I have just the right place ready for them 😀 On my beautiful glossy white beauty dresser just freshly installed, sexy to die for and they will shine on it 😛

I looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooove it!!!!!! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhmy dream come true!!!!!!!
OH MY EFFING GAWD! Sonia I want to live in your Alex!!! 😀 😀 😀
I dont want to live in the alex but in her new room.
Sonia can you add a futon bed or a small plank bed under your beauty table where i can sleep ? 😛 😀 😀
I will have a futon bed in this room so you are welcome to visit anytime 😀
Yes, this is heaven – just found it! 😉
I love you for your passion and this collection is just perfect.
I have a question regarding the TF Shade&Illuminate brush: do you really use it? I think it’s quite expensive for synthetic hair – and as I love all my TF goat brushes and think they are totally worth the money I was not willing to spend on this particular brush. I would love ro hear your opinion. Thank you in advance.
Hmmm, to be honest I don’t use it much, for shade and illuminate I’ll rather use something more fluffy although small and precise, in my opinion I’ll use that money for another brush unless you want to complete the full TF collection. After getting the shade and illuminate brush I really don’t feel the urge to get the foundation, it’s nice synthetic brushes but I am not that convinced. Hakuhodo is planning some synthetic brushes so maybe they will be more adapted for shading with cream products, I am looking forward 🙂
hurrah , I’M going to have a good night’s sleep tonight 😀 ;D
Awesome organization , you have inspired me and given me great ideas!! i’m always looking for new ways to store my babies 🙂 you’re the best. thanks for sharing
thank you and have very fluffy sweet dreams 🙂
OH – – – – MY – – – – GOD!
What a feast for the eyes!!!
This is the Epitome of Brush Nirvana, this is IT!
Sonia, it’s official – you reign supreme!!!
I am very touched 😀 😀 😀 Brush Nirvana, love that!
I feel like a child with a christmas toy catalogue – I feel like marking everything as a wish 🙂
BTW I got the TF eyeliner and definer brush, and I feel so happy that I got it. It is everything I hoped for and have been looking for for a couple of years. I can hardly tell which is my no 1 and which is my no 2 TF brush: the eyeblender brush or the eyeliner and definer brush. A huge love for me <3<3<3
Fantastic! I was thinking of you and the TF liner, I remember you got it while I got mine! I prefer the Hakuhodo K005 or a little one I received from Koyudo as a gift with purchase just because at the top they have a little bit more flexibility and therefore are more easy to manage and also hurt less on my lids! but I am really happy it’s the one for you 🙂
Maybe I use it for a different purpose than you. I don’t apply my eyeliner with it. I apply my gel eyeliner with my SUQQU eyeliner C brush. Then I smudge the line with the TF eyeliner and definer brush, to make the line softer and less like a painted on line. It has been difficult (impossible) for me to find a brush for that purpose that was firm enough, soft enough, and small enough to do it.
I also use it for applying a little bit of powder shadow on/by the liner, when I think that my SUQQU S is too big for how wide I want it.
Wow! this drawer is like heaven! Love your collection so much!
Thank you Troya 🙂
Ohhh i liiike it 😀 Very organized !
Oh melissa have good news for you/us about the kashoen ? I WANT TO HEAR MORE SOON ! Ok my purse evtl. dont want to hear that….
Oh i see now why the magnets are very bad…
yes she had good news 🙂 I need to get in touch with Kashoen but they had read the article and they will be updated and replaced … how cool is that ? I’ll tell you more when I get their confirmation!
you are all really funny, I am glad you welcome my passion in such a warm way 😀
A M A Z I N G
A dream come true !
it is indeed 🙂 thank you!
That is a beautiful collection Sonia. In my next Tanseido order I must get the red handles. I only have blue and I like the look of the mixed handles. I am glad that the Kashoen problem seems to be rectified in a satisfactory manner and hopefully we can hear the story.
Sure you will hear it and it’s a damn good beautiful story 🙂
Like 😀 Happy for you!
OMG! This is PORN to me lol 😉
I know Wayne… you can come home and we can have fun with them 😀 😀 😀
Turn the lights off and shut the blinds when you do, you crazy kids 😉
“Oooh baby, do you know what that’s worth? Ooh heaven is a place on earth…SONIA’S ALEX DRAWER!!!!!!!!”
😀 yes… must be because I start to feel good in that studio .. 🙂
*multiple brushgasms*
Spectacular collection Sonia! I could just live with drawer #1 but who wouldn’t want all of them! You are a lucky girl.
yes I am Mandy, thank you for your understanding and support 🙂
Great acquisition, your Alex
I was going to call this post “me and my Alex” but my bf would be upset since I have a friend of that name 😀
Alex is being good with me and safely taking care of my beauties …
Sonia, you’re a naughty girl. This is blatant pornography. SMUT indeed! I needed to have a long, hot shower to wash away my sinful thoughts after looking at this post. That’s where I got the idea…I created a photo collage of all the Alex drawers and it’s now the background on my computer. Will there be a sister set of drawers for makeup?
“I won’t order many more brushes now” 😉 I loved this post. I can’t wait for your studio to be finished. It will be the stuff of legend.
Best, Star.
you killed me! 😀
are you serious ??
oh I could do one one day, at least one on my hg items…
I hope it will feel cosy and who knows, maybe someone will be motivated enough to visit me ? 😉
Such a mouthwatering collectionn!I cant wait for how your studio will look! thanks for sharing
Can’t wait for it to be ready 🙂 I’ll show you as soon as it gets done!
O M G. can i please come your house and play with them? they look like little furballs!
sure you can 🙂
Once again you have “wowed” us with your passion! I read everything you write, and am always finding new and useful information. Thank you
you are welcome Laurie 😉
Have you counted these?? 🙂
you cannot count happiness… 😉
just kidding…
Haha
Well, your collection ain’t no secret no more 😀
I love that it’s so organised. I really need to pick up my game as far as my brush orga & strorage is concerned. That larger Alex looks like something I should acquire – pronto! Thanks for sharing 😉
buggsie you can buy a new Alex and I can come and make the organization for you 😛
But I would look at each brush hours so it takes a bit longer 😀
not anymore … it’s well exposed now 🙁
I have other ideas for storage but I need to wait December before I can even think of implementing them …
You have a truly impressive collection-loved taking a peak into your ‘secret’ obsession !!
I think I need some hakuhodo J series D:
A wonderful post, Sonia. I’m really looking forward to the one on cleaning brushes!
I want to live in that dresser:D
Mama Mia!!! A-M-A-Z-I-N-G….You are a Queen amongst us mere mortals. Thank you for this well thought-out post..I hope people realize how much time and energy goes into making these posts. Be well.
-M- http://ifmakeupcouldtalk.com
thank you 🙂 unfortunately queen brushes also die… arghhhh so I am glad I can enjoy them while I am here 😉
Hi! You’re the expert on brushes! I am trying to find a good foundation (liquid) brush…I was wondering what you would recommend?
Thanks,
Agnes
Hi Agnes,
There are many that I can recommend you, I don’t know what you are exactly looking for and what type of brushes you prefer.
For something really easy to use and very efficient, the Chikuhodo gsn 05 is very fool proof, works with many products. Same for the Hakuhodo brushes, the series that are combined with goat and synthetic fiber, are excellent. The choice will depend on your personal preference and you skin sensibility. Not sure if you have seen this one : http://sweetmakeuptemptations.com/2013/08/20/foundation-brushes-finding-the-one/ it may help if you haven’t 🙂
Hi Sonia!
Thanks very much for your reply..I did find the other post you did on foundation brushes! I live in Japan now and was at a Hakuhodo counter and they recommended some to me. My only gripe is their handles are a tad short (strangely all my brushes are short handle ones!). So I will study your article again!
x
Agnes
you always amaze me with your posts! it’s one of the highlights of my day whenever you post. 🙂 I love seeing people’s brush collections and how they store brushes/makeup. Can you tell me drawer 3,what brush is to the left of J5541 and the two brushes to the right of it? must get them, MUST GET THEM!!!!!!!!!
So… on the left of J5541 : J531.
On the right : J501, J104, J103.
thank you for your sweet comment Michelle!! 🙂
What a nice little army of brushes 🙂
hey Nikoleta !! thinking of you!
Sorry I don’t comment more often. I began a very stressfull new job.I hope it will take more normal proportions soon. Bisous
Hi Nikoleta, I hope you are doing great despite the high workload 🙂 bisous!
That is so…. sexy *drools* – they really do look so neat placed into Alex…. brush po*n <3
Love your Radiances, and your use of the word "punished" to refer to the rest of the RM brushes.
Yipp, like wicked kids sent to the quiet corner 😀
Shame, poor brushes, they can’t help that they got a magnet shoved up the butt 😉
Hahaha! ROFL!
yeah punished is just the word … 😀
looks even better than I thought so I am quite happy with it!
[…] do not try to do this at home.” So says Sonia, over at the blog Sweet Makeup Temptations. Her passion for makeup brushes is legendary. The self-described “brushpeologist” has a […]
Not sure if is called the same over there as in u.s.a but, i hope you have a rider on your home owners insurance for your brush cillection??? I mean life insurance policy!:O
What a collection! I want to sleep in it if I can drink the magic liquid to shrink myself. Dreaming…. ;P
Sonia, are the brushes in the first drawer your daily used?
Hi! Not necessarily, they are not ordered by preference or by frequent usage. I have a beauty corner where I apply my makeup and on that table I have two brush holders, I pick some brushes for the day and put them in the holders. I force myself to use all of them in rotation so that I can discover new possibilities and keep up to date with feedback on them. But if your question is do I use them for daily basis application, yes I do! 🙂
Oooh,I’m beyond jealous!!Such a gorgeous collection!Excuse me while I go cry in my bunk…
don’t <3
First time see your whole collection. We’ll I hope this concludes your entire collection. But I nightly doubt lol.
It is a nice way to keep them nice and clean though. But I would love to see them standing side by side maybe in an acrylic holder. Each brush gets its own special spot and holder. Imagine that! How beautiful that would be!!!!
I will review them as soon as I get them, unfortunately, I think there was a problem with the parcel because it’s not here yet. Maybe it got stuck at the customs.
My collection will always grow in a way or the other, I just love the artists too much to stop 🙂
Oh right! Do not forget to do a full review on Wayne’s brushes once you get them! I’ve been expecting for quite a long time! Ha ! His foundation brush looks so much like the hakuhodo 5333 . I really want to know your thoughts on them!!!! Thanks in advance!
I missed the eyeliner-video-of-the-week. Do you have an archive for the videos?
I would also love an archive of all of your posts – sometimes in your random-posts-list I see a post that I haven’t seen before, but it is not possible to find them on my own.
I have tried to create archives but all the plugins I found are not that amazing and some destroy the site once you install them 😀
But I will put them as soon as I find one that is stable and looks ok. I will also create archives for the videos linked 🙂 Still fixing bugs after the migration, one by one… takes time but eventually it will get better soon, the design may change a little bit in the process but it’s just to fix bugs and design issues.
I will get the video I linked and send it to you, I am happy that you also read the little blocks, so cool!
Jeanette, I think it was this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXZoKIK4VpQ
she simply explains how to apply it on hooded eyes and even though I don’t do the full wing, I apply it in a similar way 🙂
Thank you, it’s an excellent tutorial!
I’m sorry for you that you have so much work fixing bugs etc on the site. I’m sure you would much rather spend the time on making reviews.
I must say that your photography skills are amazing too. I really enjoy looking at your pictures again and again. It’s not just the lighting thats is right, it is also the products and the composition of the photos that make them so beautiful. Really nicely done!
you are welcome Jeanette!
I know, it takes time to fix everything (you will see things coming and going…) but hopefully it will be worth it and then I can have all I want (the forum was not possible before for example).
Of course I prefer to make reviews that’s why I was always postponing the move, but soon I will be ok to write more, just moved all my items in the same room and unpacked them so it’s going to be much easier from now on.
I am glad you like the pics, I hope they will get better with time, thank you so much for the nice words.
I am very excited to write about Wayne’s brushes this weekend, can’t wait to take the pics, either tomorrow or Sunday but they are already waiting on my desk, all aligned with their little cousins for this little review 😛
Oh man, what an amazing collection! Part of my day job heavily involves information organization, so I especially enjoy seeing how you’ve categorized all the brushes for yourself. The Alex is an excellent storage idea! I realize it’s temporary, and my own collection is a fraction of what you have, but I find your storage solution very inspirational.
Oh, and speaking of my own collection, my Koyudos arrived! From the BP Collection I bought the 010 (Pointed Cheek), 016 (Cheek), 013 (Large Foundation) and 014 (Small Foundation). From the Fu-Pa Collection, I bought the 01 (Cheek), 02 (Foundation), and 014 (Gray Squirrel Powder). I absolutely love them all! It’s too early to say whether I have a favorite, but I think I use the Fu-pa 01 and the BP-016 more than any of the others. If it were not for your blog, I never would have discovered this brand. Thank you for taking the time to share your hobby with us. It is very much appreciated!
Thank you Kerry!
Excellent, thank you for the feedback, I am so happy that I contribute to your research, that’s the main point of all this and it makes my day that you tell me 🙂
You will find your favorite as you use them but since we all change routine or discover new products, the fav brushes will also change, now you see how difficult it is for me to choose favs when I get questions, they are all so loveable.
I really love burberry blush like you and I use it all the time. However, Laura Mercier Cheek Color Brush that I have (it’s my only blush brush..can you believe it? I am not a make-up person at all…) does not really work. I actually think that the mini brush that came with the blush works better, so I have been using that.
Which brush do you like to use when you apply burberry blush?
Hello!
hmmm I think I actually have a little cheek brush (portable) from LM, I imagine you find it too soft and that it doesn’t pick enough product and therefore doesn’t deliver enough color and enough of a polished look.
In that case, if you even prefer the applicator, the applicator’s hair is similar to Rouge Bunny Rouge cheek brushes, so the two RBR cheek brushes will be good, the 012 is smaller and denser, the 002 is a bit bigger and less dense, any of these will work nicely.
Another more luxurious option is the Hakuhodo S110, which is goat hair but a great work horse, it picks a lot of product, blends strongly, is really a beautiful brush but maybe a bit too delicate to travel around with it.
The one that I use the most right now (and also with the Burberry blushes) is the Chikuhodo GSN 04, it’s a mix of goat and squirrel hair (=really easy to use with anything), it’s a round shape so I apply in round motions and buff. I never feel like it applies too much product but with very pigmented blushes you will have to be a bit careful, which is just totally normal.
Of course I can believe you have only one blush brush, if you are not a make up person at all I am flattered that you stopped by here 🙂
If you need any help finding them, let me know. I can give you more options but have already a look at these with some research and see if you like them.
I hope this helps you!
Sonia,
Thank you so much for your sweet reply. You are so kind. I would love to buy you coffee or tea if you live near me and hear about your stories re: make up brushes for hours. (Let me know if you ever visit DC or NYC)
I def. wanna try Chikuhodo GSN 04!!!
http://www.now-eproject.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=130
Is this the website that you used to order Chikuhodo brushes?
Also, can you please give me a recommendation for the best brush to apply mineral powder (I use the Laura Mercier one)? I have been using Hourglass Finishing Brush No. 7 for about a year and it recently started to shed so much..sad.
you are welcome 🙂
I may visit in the following months, if my boss sends me there for work then I hope we can meet and have a drink together, I’d love that!
I usually order from Kohlindo.se because I know them (maybe the GSN series are not shown on their website but they should arrive to them shortly). I haven’t ordered from Now-eproject so far. I can ask Kohlindo when they will have them if you like, I was going to email them anyway.
What coverage do you want to have with mineral foundation ? and is it the loose powder or pressed ? I saw they had something (new?) in pressed form, just want to make sure.
It’s sad that it started to shed like that, I don’t own it but one year is a bit short for a brush life span, it can happen unfortunately.
That would be so nice! Please do let me know when you are on this side of the pond!! Your blog and replies have been so helpful (I bought some Hakuhodo brushes after reading about them on your blog) and I def. owe you a drink 😉
If Kohlindo.se does ship to the U.S., please do ask them about Chikuhodo GSN 04 via email. Thank you!!
The mineral powder I use is
http://www.lauramercier.com/store/shop/Apply%20Foundation_Mineral%20Powder_prod210055
So, I use the loose powder. I think I want medium coverage…cover some redness to make my face color even but also look natural.
Muchas Gracias~~~~~
hello again, sure I will let you know 🙂
I will inform you when I get news from Kohlindo, I don’t know yet if they are in stock but if they reply to me I will ask them if the orders can be made and will post it somewhere here in the sidebar (probably twitter) for those of you who are interested.
In that case you have several choices for a mineral foundation brush, many!
The one that I really think could be the best for your type of application is the Koyudo Fu-pa14, of course also the Chikuhodo Temari but more difficult to build up the application exactly where you need it if you have zones with redness and you want to accentuate just those zones, that’s why the Koyudo Fu-pa14 is probably the best. http://sweetmakeuptemptations.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/mineral_.jpg
It works just like any other, you swirl, then tape of the excess and you apply just what’s left on the surface and you build it up where you need it, it’s extremely soft and you will love it 🙂
Hola Sonia!
Muchas gracias!!!!
Suerte ! un beso !
Oh drools.. Those collections are to die for!
I have few Tom Ford and Hakuhodo brushes (S series and basic series) and Suqqu brush. From these three brands, which one would you say that you like best for face brush?
The TF are fantastic but you are restrained to goat hair, in the other Hakuhodo series you have other mixes or other material. I love TF but I prefer the look of the S series and the choice of the Hakuhodo series. It depends, if we compare same type of brush, the TF are better, if we think of some other material, the S series are good in terms of quality and choice 🙂
I just ordered the Becca one 🙂 I never got to try the RM one but I’m hoping this one is nice.
ooooh Amalia, you have to let me know how soft it is and send pics, plizzzz 🙂
wow! this is AMAZING and mouthwatering collection at the same time!
I am so blessed that I’ve found your blog where I can just relax and look at these things for hours 🙂
Thank you Jangsty, happy to have you here, welcome 🙂
What is that pink kabuki on top of your Alex drawer? Who makes the pink brushes in your drawers? Can I get them in the USA?

Hi Sonia your collection is really to die for. This is the first time that i am writing to you. I am pratically new in the world of make up and a totaly novice in the brushes world. After i have married and having a beutifful little girl i wanted to make my self a little more cute and learn the secret of this two world to one day be able to share with my child. I was at first a bit confused there is so much and so much differce. But your blog helped me a lot. Now i have listed what i want and i am starting to build my little collection. So i wanted to thank you for all your post and for the kindness of your reply.again thanks.
Hi Romina,
thank you, so sweet! Wishing you lots of fun and I hope you will find what you are looking for, here to help 🙂
Hello! I’m glad to find your blog, it is fascinating!
Please, tell me where is it possible to find glass bells for kabukis?
Hi Jay, thank you 🙂
I bought the bells at a shop in France, it’s called Cote Maison : http://www.cotemaison.fr/ I think the bells are from Athezza if you google them you may find them online… but it’s basically just simply little cake bells that you find in “any” decoration kitchen store, some are smaller than others, these are the size of a muffin 🙂
this post as an absolute dream for me! I am a brush addict and felt guilty about my collection! i am so jealous! I have a few hakuhodos which I bought at IMATS and they are stunning.do they ship to the UK?x
Hi Hayley, yes they do ship to the UK (their USA website) http://hakuhodousa.com/
I feel guilty too but the excuse of helping others with the comparisons relieves me a tiny bit 😉
Can you just give me 5 brushes? So little for you but so much for me! I only have 10-15 brushes 🙁
well… I am not really giving them away, they are like my babies and the reason this blog is born… 😉
[…] It’s also just fun to see what’s on her most coveted list, given her already extensive collection of luxury brushes, which she wrote about in a post entitled “My Secret and Obscene Brush Collection.” […]
Hi!
In the fourth drawer, with the number 3.
Which brush is the one at right above, the second from right? (sorry for my very bad english 🙂 )
Bye from Italy 😉
Hi 🙂
I think it’s the Takeda you are talking about..

hugs from Switzerland!
Thank you Sonia 🙂
Hi there,
I see that you had some problems contacting Piccasso about their brushes. My company began working with Piccasso three months ago and are operating https://www.piccassobeauty.net/. If you contact us, we can communicate with you in English and assist you. I think they had another person helping them a few years ago, and he no longer works there. Perhaps that is why it has been difficult for you.
Please accept my apologies on their behalf and do get in touch if you require any assistance.
Marie
Hi Marie,
Indeed, it was really weird… I tried to call them so many times but couldn’t even make them understand their email had an issue at the time but now this is good news, thank you very much for the info. I see that you have now the site in English, I imagine you also now ship internationally.. so we should be able to process the orders.
Thank you for contacting us and letting us know!
I won’t hesitate to contact you if I ever need help.
This is SO AMAZING!!!!!!!!! I would like to ask a really strange question… did your Jill Stuart blush brush stink? Not like a ooh-it-smells-a-little-funny smell, but a O-M-G-something-must’ve-died stink?? I know it’s goat hair but the only other makeup brushes I have are all from Hakuhodo (of which basically all my choices were based on help from your blog!!) and they don’t come smelling like that…
Hi Bula, first of all thank you 🙂
hahaha so funny but I know it can happen!! My Jill Stuart doesn’t smell strong at all but still smells a bit goaty. I do know exactly what you mean because with some of my purchases on Rakuten they stink horrible, specially one was a nightmare, it is stored far far away from my other brushes, I even think it is now in the basement 😀
but one friend had ordered the same at the same time and hers doesn’t smell like mine so I guess some batches can be horrible 🙁 It should help to wash it a few times and dry it really well, I abandoned with mine though, I really couldn’t stand it.
