Koyudo – Their First Christmas 2012 Set

by Sonia G.

Koyudo has released this beautiful set for Christmas 2012, just a quick post for you to see it a little bit more in detail in case you are interested before it’s too late !

It comes in a pink cardboard box, contains 3 brushes and a black pouch.

I like this little black pouch, on the left there are 3 big separate compartments and on the right just one that is same width as the pouch – let’s say…. for a Rae Morris Radiance for example 🙂 or a palette.

The elastic bands are not stitched to the pouch so you could slide some more little brushes underneath.

The face brushes are :

Base of the ferrule Hair length
Foundation & shading brush 3cm 2.6cm
Liquid & Cheek Brush 2.3cm 2.5cm

Foundation & shading brush

I thought the foundation brush was the same as their Fu-Pa02 but it’s definitely not.

The shape is different, flatter, slightly thinner and it’s also a little bit less dense, same softness though.

I  have tried it this morning for the first time and it worked like magic. I even prefer it to the Fu-Pa02, the only critic I had about the Fu-Pa02 is that it’s sometimes too densely packed depending on the foundations, but this new one, let’s call it “the Christmas Fu-Pa” is just the perfect density and the perfect size for me.

The Fu-Pa02 is the bright pink, the Christmas Fu-Pa is the light pink, there are pictures before the wash and after the wash, the shape after the wash is fluffier :

Before wash

Before wash

After wash

After wash

After wash – Fu-Pa02 VS Christmas Fu-Pa

Liquid and cheek brush

The other big face brush, the liquid and cheek brush, was really what made me want to buy this set. I use the Tom Ford shade and illuminate cream contour every day and I did not like the Tom Ford brush for that application, I was looking for a thicker brush.

I found the perfect combination with this brush, I can apply the contour precisely enough (even draw a straight line application) and blend flawlessly. I don’t need to use another brush afterwards. It’s very soft, flexible but firm enough to pick and apply thicker cream products.

The shape after the wash hasn’t really changed.

There is also a lip brush in the set, I haven’t tried it yet but I think that these two brushes are already a good reason for you to get this set 🙂

Sooooo glad it’s Christmas already:)))
The pink to white gradient of the hair colour on the liquid & cheek brush really appeals to the little girl in me. Soooooo dainty:))
I love that Koyudo is so creative with their brush shapes & colours!!

It’s a bit disgusting when it’s dirty with the Tom Ford contour but we can’t have it all 😛 I have to get used to spot-clean it after use !
Me too I love their creativity ! they sent me a tiny heart-shaped brush phone-thing that you hang on your phone (I don’t know the name of these things), it looks like a weird s-toy if you see what I mean… but it’s really cute 😀
I don’t think I will dare to hang it… I imagine everyone asking me what it is 😀

I know what you mean. I got one of those little brush charms from them as a gift a while back too.
Cute idea, but I don’t have any dangly things hanging off my phone. It would drive me dilly!! Perhaps i should hang it on the door key to my room?
Have you ever used this BB brush cleanser?

http://www.douglas.de/douglas/Make-up-Pinsel-Pinselreiniger-Bobbi-Brown-Pinsel-Sets-Brush-Cleaning-Spray_product_3000030142.html

It’s excellent for those little cleans inbetween washes. It contains no alchohol so it doesn’t dry out & dmage the natural hair. Just a tad expensive, but I don’t need much. I just spray a bit on a tissue and wipe the brush over the wet patch. I use it daily for my eyeliner brushes & brow brush.

Thanks for the post, Sonia. So glad you are back. We all missed you!

I don’t think I have seen anything quite like the Christmas Fupa02. Like you, sometimes I think the normal Fupa02 can be too dense at the top and I secretly wished Koyudo has one that is slightly tapered. And here we have one. Santa must have heard us. 🙂

Hi Sonia! Thank you again for yet another lovely review!!!! You know what my question is going to be: in your opinion, how does the Christmas Fupa compare to the Rae Morris Radiance brush in terms of finish, and to the Shu 18 in terms of size :)? As the Radiance is still out of stock and I’m still looking for the ultimate foundation brush ;)….

And how does that red squirrel cheek brush compare to the Chikuhodo Z4/Z8? Do I need it?????? 😀

I think I can smell trouble, LOL

Reply
Sweet Make Up Temptations 14 November, 2012 - 10:07 pm

Hi Neo 🙂
It’s actually really good, the closest you could ever get to the Radiance and it’s more precise, blends sooo well (actually the finish I think it’s the same but I have to try it with different foundations) !!! I took a pic for you, here it is with the Shu 18 (but the Fu-Pa Christmas is still wet, I had just washed it)
We really need to ask them to release it alone and not only in a set !
I prefer actually this one to the Fu-Pa02 and there is a chance I like it as much as the Radiance !
I have uploaded a little review of the red brush, please let me know if you have any other questions… 😉

Neo 15 November, 2012 - 2:43 am

Ooooh, thank you so much for the feedback Sonia, and for snapping a pic of it next to the Shu 18, I really appreciate it!!!!! It sounds like the Christmas FuPa is the one for me 🙂 : it get a glowing review from you, gives a beautiful natural finish, and I’m comfortable with its shape! I just sent Koyudo an email telling them I would like to purchase the set and if they could please guide me on how to go about it as I don’t speak Japanese 😀

I’m so excited, yaaayyyyyy!!!!! Fingers crossed that they get back to me fast and that my set gets here even faster once we finalize the order!

I am sooo tempted by the red squirrel cheek brush, you have no idea! Love your review of it – but realistically, I only do subdued blushes anyway, so I feel I can’t really justify it 🙁 (especially as I have package from the wonderful Malin coming my way as we speak :D)

Oh, and I came home to my RMK blush waiting for me (finally, it took almost 4 weeks to reach me since I ordered – I assume that Hurricane Sandy has contributed to the delay), and I can’t wait to try it tomorrow (which means I will also be wearing Silvered Topaz again, for a neutral-y eye to allow the blush to pop 🙂 )!

Great news 🙂
I am pretty sure you will enjoy this Koyudo foundation brush, I used it again this morning and loved it ! (it might even soon beat the Radiance…)
I was surprised this morning, I used the Red brush this morning with RBR Gracilis blush and it is soooo gorgeous applied with this brush 😮
I thought it would not work that well but it does !

Let me know if you like the RMK blush !

Hi Madison,
In the first sentence of the post, “Christmas 2012” is highlighted (it’s a link to the website where the set is sold and where the price in Japanese yen is mentioned). It costs 11’145 Japanese yen, it’s around 143 US dollars. It’s not easy to order with them because their site is in Japanese, either you install a browser that automatically translates Japanese into English while you are surfing (for example Google Chrome) or you contact them by email at shop@koyudo.co.jp
If you click on the menu “shopping links” of this blog and you search for Koyudo, you will find the two sites where Koyudo brushes are sold.
I hope this helps 🙂

Nikoleta 14 November, 2012 - 6:12 pm

I wish the christmas fupa was sold alone, it seems really nice. I don’t know if I got a dude on cdjapan but my first fupa02 sheds a lot lately 🙁
Did you get the pink sakura blush brush?

Reply
Sweet Make Up Temptations 14 November, 2012 - 6:22 pm

I wish it was sold separately 🙁 maybe we can ask them…
So sad it sheds, I don’t have this problem with the dark pink Fupa02 I got from CD Japan, but lately the Radiance is also shedding “more than usual”, not that bad but I always have to double check I don’t have white hair on my face afterwards… I hope it’s not humidity in the air or something like that…
Yes I got the pink Sakura, I can upload a picture in my next post of tonight if you like 🙂

Reply
Dena 14 November, 2012 - 6:45 pm

Oh dear – my RM Radiance brush is also shedding – not terribly, but I do end up with a couple of white hairs every morning. I really hope it doesn’t get any worse – my skin is so dry at the moment, that this is one of the only brushes I can use (for the most natural-looking finish). Also, the magnet in one of my other RM brushes has come loose, and the rattling drives me mad.

Reply
Sweet Make Up Temptations 15 November, 2012 - 6:05 am

Oh I forgot to say : now you see why the rattling drives me mad 🙁 it’s really upsetting. She should find a solution to recall these brushes and replace them… without additional taxes !!!

oh, it is really nice of you. how does it compare to you other round head brushes ?

Reply
Sweet Make Up Temptations 14 November, 2012 - 10:02 pm

It’s really soft ! I wasn’t expecting that. Slightly softer than the H005 kabuki. Sizewise it’s between the Chikuhodo Z-4 and Z-8 but of course it’s round and very slightly pointier, the density and flexibility is perfect to make a versatile brush so I am very happy with it, and… I have nothing similar in my collection 🙂 I have to try it with different blushes to see how it works best !

Dena, you need to try La Prairie. You can apply it like a moisturizer, with the fingers. I only use a blending sponge to dab, dab ,dab any areas which don’t look perfect. No brushes & no stray hairs involved. It’s most definitely a foundation for normal to dry skin. I don’t apply it directly under the eyes because I think that it likes to settle into wrinkles later in the day & I use a different product under the eyes anyway. Try to get yourself some sample shades because it aint cheap. I think this foundation is ‘tTHE one’ for aging skin. It also has a concealer in the lid which i use around the nose & in the groove between lip & chin.

Dena 14 November, 2012 - 10:35 pm

Thanks for the tip – I must check it out. Funnily enough, I seem to manage with foundations that aren’t generally considered the best for very dry skin, such as Illamasqua Skin Base (which I actually think is fine for dry skin) and Graftobian HD Cream foundation (which I have been wearing every day for the last week, and am loving). However, I spend a lot of time and work looking after my skin to make my makeup work. My biggest problem area is under my eyes – I get eczema there in the winter as well. Anyway, thanks for the tip – I will try it and let you know how I get on with it.

Well today has ended up being an expensive day, thanks to this blog! A Koyudo order and now possibly a new foundation! 😉

Hi Sonia

Trying to decide between getting the fu pa 2 and the Christmas set.

What else could you use the cheek and liquid brush for? I’m not sure if i have a use for it. I might email and see if they would be willing to sell the Christmas fu pa separately.

Also with the fu pa how do you use it? Are you using sort of circular buffing motion?

Thanks again Sonia
Becs

Sweet Make Up Temptations 15 November, 2012 - 9:56 am

Hi Becs, i wish the Christmas fupa was sold individually, I would recommend you to get it instead of the Fupa-02.
I use the other cheek brush for cream blushes or highlighters, I haven’t tried it with powder but it wouldn’t be that good to deliver a diffused look.
No, not circular, more like “Karate kid” motion 😀 if that rings a bell…
– if not, please let me know 😛 maybe you weren’t born at that time …

Hi Sonia

Definitely not too young for karate kid but afraid I am still not sure what you mean. It was a long time ago for me so I don’t remember the movie well.

Obviously when I get the brush I can play around with it but just not sure where to start.

I emailed them too about buying it separately and was told the same thing I think. I was happy to see others had posted as it made me think I had understood the email correctly.

Thanks Sonia. Love your new posts. Although they are just adding to my list!

Hi Becs,
My brother is a martial art teacher, I had to watch it again and again and again… 😛
I try to explain, remember that kid was painting the fence, with smooth movements, up and down, left and right…, well, just to the same, diagonal, sliding with the brush, like if you were painting your face, the blending is easy, you don’t need rubbing and buffing which is good for me since I have very delicate skin 🙂
you are welcome, it’s a real pleasure to share my brush crazyness with you all <3

I just realized that Cool Japan also sells the Christmas set, and for cheaper than Koyudo? Based on your experience, do you have a preference between ordering from them or from Koyudo? Also, would anyone have any tips on the difference between shipping EMS or FedEx express to the US? The price difference is really negligible, and I’m wondering which method would get the set to me faster :).

Reply
Sweet Make Up Temptations 15 November, 2012 - 6:18 am

I have checked yesterday and I did not see it 🙁
I have ordered from both and both were fine, I don’t remember which one is better (I believe that’s a good thing… ) ! I think it could be faster from Koyudo but I just don’t remember precisely. Maybe you can contact CoolJapan directly, I think somebody from CoolJapan has posted comments in this blog… I’ll check 😉
If I do remember I let you know !

Thank you Sonia! It does say that the set was only available as of 14 November, so maybe it just popped up on their site just now? And it does also say “usually ships within 3 to 7 days” which can be long indeed (especially when you are over eager to get your hands on your brushes, like me :D). Good idea, I’ll try to contact them and see what they say, unless they comment here before – I need to get to bed, it’s super late here, and my night is getting shorter by the minute, lol

Thank you so much again Sonia, you are really making all this process so easy, and I’m so grateful to you for that 🙂

Hi Neo,
Koyudos price is incl. tax, but they remove the tax before I pay, so perhaps that’s the price difference? As I don’t live in the US I can’t help with the EMS/ FedEx question. EMS is fast though.

Neo 15 November, 2012 - 9:58 pm

Thank you Buggsiebee! I guess we will soon find out, as I just placed my order with Koyudo :), i.e. I sent them my completed order form, and now I guess I wait to hear from them with the invoice to pay? Do they usually take long to answer/send you the invoice? they still haven’t answered the email I sent them yesterday with questions, but hope they will be faster when an order is included, lol.

I was all set to order from Cool Japan, but then I kept on looking at Sonia’s post on the red squirrel brush, and just couldn’t let it go, soooooo… I will now be waiting for both the Xmas set AND the red squirrel brush I don’t need… Maybe I need a Tom Ford blush too now, just to justify the red squirrel brush, you know… 😀

Which brings me to this: I played with my RMK blush today, and it’s LOVELY!!!!! I now understand exactly what you meant in your review Sonia – thank you so much :)!!! the only problem is that I think I will be needing more now ;). the one I got is the Mix Color in pink, and I was wondering: are the single colored ones just as good???

Reply
Stacy 15 November, 2012 - 10:17 pm

Hi Neo! I am having the same experience with Koyudo right now. I emailed twice with no response. I am ridiculously impatient so I went ahead and ordered the Chrismas Set from CD Japan (who I love because they are reliable and have a great point system ). Let me know if you hear back from K….
And YES you need at least 2 TF blushes!!!!!

yes, that’s right.. now you have to wait, sometimes it can even take several days…
you will love these brushes for sure !
hahaha yes a Tom Ford blush to justify it is an absolute necessity 😀
I have all of the Mix for cheeks, I just don’t think there is something as good out there. The single ones are not as stunning but they are also above many other brands (great texture, great shades), do you have access to an RMK counter at all where you live ? I imagine you don’t but let me know if you have any questions and I will be at their counter soon by the way !

Reply
Neo 16 November, 2012 - 3:14 am

Hi Stacy! I will definitely let you know how it goes with Koyudo – but I have a feeling you will be getting your set before me… Oh well, as long as I get both the set and the red squirrel brush, I guess it’s worth a bit of patience (can you tell I’m trying to convince myself????).

I have been really attracted to Wicked among the TF blushes, which ones do you like best?

Thank you Sonia :)! Sadly there is no RMK counter here (or anywhere in the US, as far as I know?). I have to say that I’m kind of blown away by my new blush: not only is it absolutely gorgeous, but I’ve been wearing it for well over 12 hours now, and it’s still there! Wow! I would love to also get one single color blush, but I’m having a hard time determining the right color as there aren’t too many colors online. BeautyBay only seems to offer a couple of them, and I don’t think either is right for me, so I’m also not sure where I could get it (but I’m sure I’ll figure something out, lol). Still, I would be super grateful if you could please have a look for me when you have a chance, and let me know which one you think would be a true pink or even rose, without being coral-y or bronzey, or orangy, and without too much warmth? I’m very very happy with the Mix in Pink (#01) I just got, and another of my favorites you may know is the Suqqu Ex-02 Mizumomo from this fall’s collection :). But no worries if you don’t get to it either ;)! And thank you for offering, it’s super sweet 🙂

Sweet Make Up Temptations 16 November, 2012 - 8:33 am

please do let us know when you get your brushes !
I like wicked and narcissist the most, also flush but I don’t think this is a color you are looking for…
Funny, following to Buggsiebee recommendations I used the red squirrel brush with Nars Torrid this morning, it packs a lot of product and I looked like a clown 😛 again had to tone it down… but it’s better that way, knowing that it works so well with many different blushes.
The RMK mix for cheeks are really long lasting indeed, I will check the single ones out for you and let you know 🙂

Neo 17 November, 2012 - 5:09 am

Thank you so much Sonia – again!!!!!!! I totally appreciate it if you have the time to take a look at the RMK single blushes for me – unless you agree with Buggsiebee that they aren’t really that great, and that I would be better off getting Wicked instead ;)? I am very much attracted to Narcissist, but I have to admit that it scares me, lol. And you are right, as beautiful as it is, Flush would not be right for me. It’s weird, because I’m neutral/yellow toned, but corals, or colors that tend toward orange either emphasize the yellowness to the point of making me look sick, or they make me look sallow ;(

I also wanted to give you with an update about my communications with Koyudo! They were slow to first respond (took them a couple of days), but they have been super fast and nice since! They first sent me a quite for both the red squirrel check brush and the Xmas set, plus shipping (but without PayPal link, although they said to pay to their account – uh??????). But in the meantime, I read here that they were looking at releasing the Xmas Fu-Pa on its own, without the full set, and I have to admit that I would prefer to go with that option, as I don’t contour, have never used a lip brush, and certainly don’t need yet another cosmetic pouch, lol. So I emailed them back, asking if I could maybe already pay for the red squirrel brush as I really wanted that one, and if they could please hold it for me until they started selling the Xmas Fu-Pa alone, and then charge me for that one and ship both together. I got an answer back tonight that they were holding a red squirrel brush for me and would be back in touch with me as soon as they had a pricing for the Xmas Fu-Pa – or at least that’s what I understood, lol. Needless to say, I’m thrilled and really excited! Of course, I would prefer to get everything immediately 😀 (patience not being my greatest strength…), but I also prefer to only get what I really want – I already have too many brushes I don’t use laying around! I’m hoping that if they get enough requests for the Xmas Fu-Pa, they may speed things up a bit to determine its price and make it available 🙂

Oh, and my HG mascara is Le 2 from Guerlain – I personally prefer the black tube to the gold one (a tad more dramatic), but both are excellent! For the past 2 weeks I’ve been playing with the new Chanel Volume mascara, and I have to say that I’m pretty impressed and like it a lot!!!! I don’t even need to curl my lashes anymore, it does it perfectly on its own! I’ve had the same experience as you Sonia, with the Chanel Inimitable Intense: loved my first tube, and been disappointed by every other one since 🙁

cc 15 November, 2012 - 6:43 am

And that is not the end of it.. (it never is.. 😛 )

Hi Sonia , I’ve been trawling through all your posts as I can’t remember the title of the one where you describe all the different properties of all the different kind of hair used for brushes 🙂
I was looking wistfully at the spacenk web-site and they have a She Uemura lip brush called Kolinsky n7 , and I’m sure I recognise that name . Would you mind reminding me which post it is please , thanks.

Sweet Make Up Temptations 15 November, 2012 - 4:43 pm

Hi Helen 🙂 sure, it’s this one
If you type “brushes” in the search zone, you get it.
The one I will receive from Lunasol is also kolinsky so I can’t wait to try it…

Reply
helen856 15 November, 2012 - 6:42 pm

Thanks Sonia 🙂 You know what ? I’m just going to try and use a little patience and wait for your opinion of the Lunasol . Because sure as night follows day I’ll buy something else which won’t be any good and then the Lunasol will get a rapturous reception and I’ll be grumpy with myself !!!
I think part of the problem is that I’m just not used to glossy lipsticks , having always had matte up til now .
I’ll just calm down and wait 🙂

Reply
Sweet Make Up Temptations 15 November, 2012 - 10:09 pm

🙂 I have high expectation with the Lunasol !
otherwise I am using this one from Hakuhodo at the moment, I have tried it with Suqqu creamy glow and the application is nice and even but I have to compare it to another nice brush to see the difference.
A lip brush, mainly if it’s not LE, can wait a bit as well that’s true 🙂 do you apply a base under the lipstick by the way ?
I don’t really experience streaky lines with the Suqqu creamy glow but the ones I have apply quite sheer…

Nikoleta 15 November, 2012 - 6:08 pm

I have bought the kokutan lip brush R from hakuhodo before price goes up and it is quite a good brush lip brush as it covers larger areas and the pointed tip gives more control when needed but it is too expensive for a lip brush. I have also the 272 Lip Brush round and flat but it is too small, I don’t really recommend it, there is a square weasel one also but I never use it, too square, too big, no control for me with it

helen856 15 November, 2012 - 6:31 pm

Hi Nikoleta , I am searching for a new lip brush : I was considering the Shu Uemura Kolinsky one but it’s very expensive . Would you recommend the Kokutan R ? I have a new luscious Suqqu lipstick , but it’s very glossy and difficult to get an even finish .

Reply
Nikoleta 15 November, 2012 - 8:37 pm

well, I don’t know the shu uemura lip brush, the kokutan is a very good lip brush, the only problem is that the point can split a bit if you don’t pack enough colour, but from all the lip brushes I have (hakuhodo) this one is the best, you get quick, even, full colour application, it is quite dense, full bodied. I have thin lips and the tip allows me to control application around the edges of my mouth.

Yes , thank you Nikoleta.
No Sonia , I don’t prep my lips ; should I ,if so any recommendations please ?
I’m just going out on a little shopping trip to buy some Astalift jelly , and also , after immersing myself in your brush posts 🙂
a Boots No.7 concealer brush ! I’m astonished you’ve even heard of No 7, a chemist-chain brand here in UK . I’m intrigued -did you have someone recommend it , or did you just have a “gut feeling ” for it ?
Also I’m checking out the lipstick you recommended , the Dior 418 Ingenue ; it looks lovely in all the photos in posts ..

I just always use a base (Chantecaille at the moment) then I fill them with a lipliner for a more long-lasting application. Do you use your Serge Lutens lip liner to fill them in or just to line them? Do you still like it?
ohhh if you find a shop that directly sells Astalift products, could you please let me know ? most of the shops only sell it online.
I bought the N7 concealer and foundation brushes even before I heard Lisa Eldridge speaking about them, I think they are amazing for the price.
I like to play with brushes in the shops and I found that this concealer brush is soft and “fluffier” than most concealer brushes which is nice to highlight bigger zones on the face, I could not resist and I sill love to use it.
I am in a “red lip” mood these days, barely no eyeshadow makeup but a red lip, loving the Ellis Faas L103 and the new Dior Lady, then I surely need some liner with these but I wear them more as a stain than a full impact application and it’s so nice !

Oh Neo!! You do ‘NEED’ the red squirrel brush. When I felt it on my skin I was just…oooooooooooooooooh YES!!
It doesn’t get much silkier than this.
Nars blushes also work REALLY well with this lovely red Koyudo squirrel so you don’t really need a TF blush …haha….but you do:))
I collected a Koyudo order from customs today & of course I had to open them while driving home. So I nearly crashed the car wihen I touched my new Koyudo H008 to my cheek! I was just saying oh my gosh, oh MY gosh!! This is it!! This is the climax of all soft brushes:)) That’s the problem with collecting them. You are always searching for the non plus ultra. Your mission is NEVER accomplished.

I’m with Sonia on the single RMK blushes. No need. Not bad, not great .

😀 hahaha be careful !!!
Now, before I open a Koyudo or Chikuhodo or Hakuhodo parcel, I sit, prepare (nice drink and plenty of space on the table), and THEN I open it !
Sometimes I even make sure I am quiet and calm, it’s such a wonderful moment 😛 I am definitely crazy !

I’m always so excited that I can’t wait, but you are absolutely right!! These parcels deserve to be opened in a relaxed environment and not on the run.
Next time I’ll excercise some discipline ok?

Reply
Sweet Make Up Temptations 16 November, 2012 - 8:52 am

Ok !
Next parcel for me will be Lunasol brushes.. then Hakuhodo I believe.
Then I will pause for a bit, I hope ! oh yes, then there is London…. 🙁 not that much pause after all…

LOL Buggsiebee!!!!! Now I’m even more impatient to get my red squirrel brush (but have to wait even longer, nooooooooooo!) – I thought I had reached the heights of softeness with my Chikuhodo and Suqqu brushes!!!! And now I don’t know if I even dare to ask but…. Is the H008 even softer than the red squirrel???? I mean, soft enough to almost cause an accident must be sooooooo luxurious!!!!!!! Aargh, hanging with you wonderful ladies is lovely and fun, but I can see how it’s going to be my doom, LOL! You are so right: there will never be an end to this!!!! (Still, please wait until you get home to unpack next time!!!!!)

You know, I’ve stayed away from Nars blushes because I’ve always found them way too pigmented – maybe I can give them a try again now! Although I see from Sonia’s experience that some caution and restraint in application will still need to be exercised 😉

So you’d say don’t bother with the RMK single blush and go for the Tom Ford instead?

Reply
Buggsiebee 17 November, 2012 - 10:39 am

Hi Neo,
you know, I don’t think that the RMK singles are bad, I just don’t think that they create the same magic on the cheeks as the as the RMK mix blush does. They’re just not spectacular.
Oh dear! Sorry to get you going on the H008. In answer to your question, no, I don’t think it’s softer than the red squirrel, but it’s the softest, dense & flat topped brush I have ever felt. The H010 which is goat hair and not as expensive as the H008 is also very gentle to the skin, but the silkiness of the H008 is unbeleivable!!!
In general, I’m just repeatedly blown away by the Koyudo brushes.
As I’m I’m a confirmed TF junkie, I’m probably not the best person to ask about ‘needing’ anything from his cosmetics line. I LOVE his packaging & have yet to be disappointed with any product from his color range. His blushes are a treat:))

You got me going too 😛

Neo 19 November, 2012 - 9:12 pm

Thank you Buggsiebee – I think!!! I’m now plotting my next trip to the TF counter, and looking at Kabuki and Flat topped brushes!!!! Nevermind that I have no idea what I would be using them for, lol! For some reason, I’ve always been a fan of round and not too dense brushes, but maybe I’ve been missing out??
As for TF, I just started dabbling into his stuff, but I can see how this could easily becaome an extremely slippery slope… It started with Enchanted, is continuing with Silvered Topaz, and I already have an eye on Titanium Smoke – and Wicked ;)!! I also started looking at his liquid foundation, but then reminded myself that I’m really really really happy with the CdP, and should stick with what both me and my skin love (a lot of foundations break me out). Oh, and of course, I love the one lippie I got from his line 🙂
I’m so glad you love the Koyudo brushes so much – I can’t wait to get my first ones, hopefully soon :). The only issue with my order not being fulfilled immediately, is that I’m starting to look at others of their brushes, wondering if I shouldn’t order more than just the 2 I’m going for, kind of to maximize the shipping costs, you know ;)…

yeah yeah I know… been there… few times 😛

Sweet Make Up Temptations 17 November, 2012 - 12:58 pm

I know… it’s terribly dangerous to love great makeup brushes so much ! on my side I have to admit I cannot carry on buying so many brushes forever and it’s going to calm down some time soon, but I am happy to be able to do it at this moment and share it with you 🙂
Before, I was spending nearly as much money on brushes (or makeup), just not on the right products for me…
The problem with this red squirrel brush is that you just want to “over”use it, it does require some self-control 😛
Both RMK and TF blushes are expensive, I would go for a shade that I will use on a daily basis whatever the brand. On the other hand, if you don’t have a Tom Ford blush, I think you need one (since you already have an RMK mix for cheeks..) The TF is insanely expensive but you get a lot of product!
You should go try Wicked and Narcissist, also think of Wicked as a blush that gives a nice dimension by wearing a tiny bit on top of any other matte blush. I will keep you updated on the RMK, I can’t wait to be at the counter !

Reply
Neo 19 November, 2012 - 9:15 pm

Thank you Sonia, and you are of course right: the right shade is at least as important as the texture of a blush. Still, I can’t wait to hear what you think when you get to the RMK counter!!!! I keep my fingers crossed that your work days aren’t too full, and that you have plenty of time to go scope out goodies for all of us 😀

Sweet Make Up Temptations 19 November, 2012 - 10:26 pm

oh don’t worry I will make time to do so ! it’s not like here, in London the shops remain open for quite a long time, I just wish my brain will remain aware and not too tired as I don’t want to be zombie-style shopping 😛

Stacy 17 November, 2012 - 1:13 pm

Hi Neo! I am so envious! I still have not heard back from Koyudo…
My favorite TF blushes would probably not be for you as they both have a tinge of peach/coral to them: Frantic Pink and Love Lust. I too have a problem with many colors turning orange or muddy on me but these 2 and the RMK 04 don’t for some reason. I have and love the RMK Mix 01 and love it! Along those lines the new Sisley Blush 04 pinky/rose is phenomenal!!!!!!!!! For me there is nothing like it! It gives that incredible glow and melt into the skin quality that is hard to find 😉 Very pricey but…. Hadn’t even considered trying a Sisley blush until my downfall when entering Sonia’s blog zone….

(Sonia: You know it’s not you just a personal problem 🙂 ) xoxo

btw Neo aprox where in the US are you

Reply
Neo 19 November, 2012 - 9:21 pm

LOL Stacy, don’t be envious: I pretty much harassed them, I think, by bombarding them with follow-up emails :D. And at least you will have your Xmas set so much faster than me!
That’s so funny that you should mention the new Sisley Blush in 04: I’ve been looking at it for a couple of weeks now, without daring to try it on, lol. I guess now there won’t be any holding me back anymore and I will ;). Thank you so much for the rec 😀
I do love that we are all plagued with the same downfall, and not only from Sonia, but also from each other! I find this to be a very enabling place ;). And it makes me happy 🙂

I’m in NYC, how about you?

Sweet Make Up Temptations 19 November, 2012 - 10:37 pm

I confirm, so much fun but it’s so difficult to resist when you all send me links with insanely beautiful brushes on them.. grrrrr
These 3 kabukis that Nikoleta shared in a link are on their way to me. This is going to be my huge and greedy Christmas present 🙂 not really Christmas spirit here I have to say… 😛
I had a mail exchange with Hakuhodo earlier today and I’ll meet them in the London Imats next year, can’t wait !!
and by the way… I might be in New York in January next year (nor sure yet but there is a big chance…)

Neo 19 November, 2012 - 10:51 pm

O-M-G!!!!!!!! Those maple kabukis are to die for!!!!!!!! I think that they will make a PERFECT Xmas present (hey, I’m with you: whatever excuse works to justify a purchase, I’ll take it ;)!!!!!!). Congratulations!!!!!!! How exciting!

And LOL! Tell US about those posting beautiful pictures of wonderful brushes!!!!!!!! Let’s remember that I have an MK2 (which I didn’t even know existed until a few weeks ago!) and a Z-1 (which I don’t need, but couldn’t resist after your review!) coming my way as we type!!!! 😀

Oooh, that would be so cool if you were to come to NY! I’m sure you would love it – except for the cold, but then again, it’s nice and warm by the beauty counters ;). And I would love to meet you, if you have time and were so inclined, of course 🙂

Sweet Make Up Temptations 20 November, 2012 - 11:17 am

‘morning Neo!
They look really amazing, I love how cute they look together, I can’t wait to do a post on them.
My dresser is starting to look fun with all these little kabukis, it’s like mushroom wonderland 😀
oh I used the Z-1 this morning, I hope you will love it !
I would love to meet you too 🙂 I hope I will also be able to meet Stacy ! yeah !!!
I was in NYC some years ago, I remember it was really very cold that year, but since I have already visited all the museums, places of interest, etc etc, this time it will mostly be for shopping !

Bonnie 20 November, 2012 - 5:27 am

Oooh, those are the Hakuhodo kabukis right? I haven’t seen them on the Hakuhodo USA website, are they new?

I have also ordered the Christmas set (and the BP013) from Koyudo, no reply yet 🙁 But patience is a virtue… I’m now nursing a lemming for TF blushes because of everyone here…. having so much trouble separating which shades I want, and which I need… and which would best suit my colouring haha. Choices!

Sweet Make Up Temptations 20 November, 2012 - 11:24 am

Yes they are Hakuhodo, I think they are new, if you are interested, you have to email Hakuhodo, it’s what I did (thanks to Buggsiebee so ask them for us both), they might still have a few. I think they will be sold on their website in the future but so far you have to contact them 🙂 They will confirm if they still have some available and the prices.
I hope you will love the BP013, I use it everyday together with the small one, sometimes what suits one person does not suit the other so I hope I am not dragging you into unnecessary purchases 🙁
I know how it is for TF, difficult choice, but since there is a lot of product it will last you a looong time !

Buggsiebee 20 November, 2012 - 6:24 am

That little Kabuki family ls certainly hard to resist……especially for someone who LOVES her white brushes;)
Those links really are a killer! Once you’ve followed them, you can’t unsee what you saw & then it’s just a matter of time till the new ‘have to haves’ land up in the shopping basket.
I’m taking a time-out from today!! Unfortunately I have already seen some of the Spring 2013 makeup collections so I’ll have to lift my shopping ban after New Year though;)
From now till then = ONLY pressies for others & free time spent on sport instead of shopping!

Sweet Make Up Temptations 20 November, 2012 - 6:23 pm

For me, this set is just impossible to pass, you said it: I love white brushes ! and I love kabukis too so… the reason why I did not get more kabukis in the past is because I wanted white ones… 🙂
I also need to take a break but they don’t let me 🙁 naughty companies that release irresistible brushes !
But I have new resolutions for next year, sport is one of them ! Top priority !
Anything you are specially lemming for the Spring 2013 collections ?

Stacy 20 November, 2012 - 6:30 pm

Oh gosh, me too! I have to quit making excuses 😉 back on the treadmill for me!!
Sonia did you get the Christmas Suqqu sets?

Sweet Make Up Temptations 20 November, 2012 - 6:43 pm

😀
I have contacted them a long time ago to buy these sets and since I told them I would be there soon, I will directly pick them up this saturday at their counter ! both sets !!!
Now I have my eye on the Hakuhodo one… Since Hakuhodo cannot export it due to their regulations, I am looking for a solution to get my hands on it 😉
Don’t follow the link !!!! you have been warned !

Stacy 20 November, 2012 - 6:52 pm

Smart! Let me know what you think…
Darn… I followed the link!!

Sweet Make Up Temptations 20 November, 2012 - 6:57 pm

yep !!! guess what ? Nikoleta’s fault again !

Bonnie 20 November, 2012 - 12:01 pm

Oooh, I think I’ll have to wait until the official release because of everything else I want. If I ask… I know I won’t be able to say no to them (because they’ll probably only say we only have 3 left, two now… going, going, go- and then I’ll have to say “Me!”).

I also need a break from shopping 🙁 Sad but true…

Sweet Make Up Temptations 20 November, 2012 - 6:26 pm

I know… better not ask 🙂
Instead of shopping we can also look what other brands are interesting and I am working on that 🙂 I will try to keep you updated on other different brands, and when a product is not LE, the great thing is that there is no need to rush !

Stacy 20 November, 2012 - 6:08 pm

Hey Neo! If anyone needs an “enabling” place this is it!!! You must break down and get the Sisley and even consider looking at the peachy/pink one you may be surprised that you could possibly wear it…. I am in the Atlanta area. I lived in NY at one time (Larchmont) and really miss being able to hop on the train and go to the City! I try to get back at least once a year… I have a best friend in CT.

Sonia: It is a solid date!! You say when and I will do my best best best to be there!
So fun! Lunch at Barneys Neo?

xo

Neo 21 November, 2012 - 2:30 am

Oh, one of my closest friends lives in Larchmont!!!!! Nice place 🙂

Oh, fear not: I already told the Sisley SA last time to expect me back, that I knew that blush would be mine ;)! It may just be after Xmas at this point, as I now need to focus on Xmas presents. I did think about asking for it from my parents, but I’m afraid they may not understand the “need” for a $90 blush… As they are coming to visit, I’ve also been considering hiding a few of my brushes, as I’m afraid my mom may have a fit when she sees them all, LOL. Oh, and yes, I’m a grown adult, past my mid-thirties :D!!!! What is it about parents that makes us always have to justify ourselves, no matter how old or independant we are???

And you are so on for lunch at Barneys :)! Hopefully soon, and with Sonia 😉

And Stacy: you and me both – I too clicked on the Hakuhodo link… And I WANT that set!!!!!!!!! LOL

Sweet Make Up Temptations 21 November, 2012 - 7:22 am

That set is actually not exported out of Japan (special regulations because of the handles I believe…)
I have contacted Hakuhodo USA and they cannot get it. Hate it when it happens 🙁

I wanna go to NYC and meet you !!! (working on it!)

Stacy 21 November, 2012 - 2:14 pm

Neo, so true! Most “normal” people could not fathom the cost of the cosmetics we addicts pay;). I grew up with a mother who picked up all of her mu at the drug store (nothing wrong with that..) and my BFF owns ONE lipstick and ONE blush. It is so nice to have found my comfort zone here with Sonnia’s blog 😉

I hope you find a way to sneak in that blush for yourself soon!! Oh and a brush just specially designated for it!!

Bonnie 17 November, 2012 - 4:23 pm

By the way, Buggsiebee, what’s your opinion on the H010, H008 and the Hakuhodo G543? I remember reading that you have the G543 so just wondering what the differences were and how you use them!

Sweet Make Up Temptations 17 November, 2012 - 6:12 pm

Buggsiebe, did you play with your brushes ?? 😛 Me too I am wondering… how do you use them ?

Reply
Buggsiebee 18 November, 2012 - 8:23 pm

Hey Bonnie:)
Did your parcel pitch yet? I sent Stacys parcel the day after yours & hers arrived a couple of days ago.
Just for fun, I decided to apply the TF Narcissist blush with each of the H010, H008 & H005 brushes. Just plonk the different brushes in the middle of the SUPER pigmented blush and apply. NO prior dust off.
I figured that at the very least, it would give the bored judges….my three sons, a good laugh.
Anyway….the verdict is out. H005 could work if I only picked up color on the tip & dusted it off before application. The H010 = Hahahahaha = MEGA clown cheeks with no chance of repair by belnding!!!
The H008 = plonk in the blush, NO dust off = the first cheek was perfect but the second cheek was a bit OTT. However this brush is soooooo soft that you can polish away any kind of mishap & end with a glowing victory. GREAT blush brush!!

Hey Buggsiebee, my friend just picked it up for me today! I can’t wait to get back to Sydney so I can check everything out – so excited!

The testing of those three brushes made me laugh. You know what would have been even funnier? Three brushes + three sons + TF Narcissist = three little clowns 😛 Just in case you’re bored next weekend…

Yupp, lucky you, London is just a week or so away now isn’t it?
I imagine that your shopping list isn’t quite as long as it was last time though?
I’m still waiting on two orders from Hakuhodo. They used to slip through customs nicely, but those days are obviously over now. Customs stops EVERY single parcel from Hakuhodo and sits on it for weeks – as if they’re waiting for the darn thing to hatch!! My poor brushes:(

Hi Buggsiebee , just to say I’ve received the eyebrow brush you recommended from Hakuhodo , and I’m extremely pleased with it , thank you .It took almost 2 weeks to arrive , which is much longer than my other orders which were within 5 days .Peculiar .
I hope you have a date from lovemakeup about your Radiance 27 , but of course I wouldn’t expect you to publish on here 🙂 🙂 😉

A two week wait is luxury ! My last Hakuhodo order took almost 8 weeks!!
They used to take no longer than two weeks:(
I’m really happy to hear that the Kokutan brow brush is right for you. It has exactly the right firmness for me and is one of my HG brushes for sure.
I’m still waiting on that radiance brush….. among others:)

Hi Buggsiebee , please could you remind me of the Ellis Faas eyeshadow you use for your brows ? Niche-beauty still has E.F products at 50% off and I was stocking up : is it the Creamy Eyes E104 – I think I remember you saying it was a good brown/grey colour ? I wore the E2O5 eyeshadow today ( what a faff the clicker pen is though, huh ??!!! ) and you’re right , it does not budge all day !

Reply
Buggsiebee 20 November, 2012 - 6:06 am

Yupp, E104’s the one I like:)
I harldly use a drop of it each day so you don’t need to twist it every time you use it.

Sweet Make Up Temptations 16 November, 2012 - 2:57 pm

yes just one week away !!! you are right, I already got a few things 😛
and my eyes are really on brushes at the moment.. and the best brushes we all know, they come from Japan… if I ever go to Japan, it’s going to be deadly !!!

Dena 16 November, 2012 - 11:16 am

Me too – I am so into a big red lip at the moment.my favourite is NSFW lip tar by OCC – it’s just incredible. I am also obsessed with lashes at the moment. This is all so high maintenance that I have to do my lashes before the gym in the morning, otherwise I’d never have enough time to get ready for work.

Helen, I use one of the square Hakuhodo lip brushes (I think it’s the 270), which is great, but the one I use most often, which works brilliantly with all textures, is a super cheap one from Crown Brush – the C123 mini chisel brush. Definitely worth a try. It works on so many lip shapes.

Sonia – I have run out of my 6 month supply of Astalift, but the Murad serum I am using instead is fantastic – my dry patches have disappeared in the last week! It’s also down to diet, but the serum is the only thing I’ve changed in my skincare. I’ll bring a sample for you next week.

Sweet Make Up Temptations 16 November, 2012 - 12:12 pm

Funny, me too, full lashes all the way 😛
Curl – apply Chanel mascara – comb – curl – apply Benefit They’re real – comb – apply again … apply eyeliner at the base of the lashes 🙂
what do you do ?
Thank you Dena 🙂 I can’t wait to discover that Murad !

Reply
Dena 16 November, 2012 - 12:32 pm

Curl – mascara – comb with metal comb – one more coat of mascara. But at the moment, I am really into false lashes. Just individuals, but the whole red lip/false lashes look is so high maintenance! It takes me far too long to get ready in the morning! I’m not fussy about mascara brands; I am always trying out new ones. At the moment, I like Clinique.

Reply
Sweet Make Up Temptations 16 November, 2012 - 12:47 pm

I even bought the little Clinique one for the bottom lashes but it makes clumps and spider looking bottom lashes so I am not really a fan, I might need to properly clean the brush even if it’s new…
I was looking for individual lashes when I was over in July but did not find any that I liked, need to check again this time !
It does take a long time but I am getting faster every morning !

Thank you Dena , I’ll check out the Crown brush .

Sonia , yes I love my Serge Lutens lip liner and I’ll have to look into the Chantecaille base . I ordered the Astalift on-line and collected it from Boots ; but you’re right ,it only seems available on-line , curiously . Debenhams has it at 10% off at the moment , so maybe if you’re coming to London order and collect in store ?
At the risk of sounding even more sycophantic than usual , you are an absolute genius 🙂 The Dior 418 Rouge lipstick is an almost perfect dupe for the Suqqu no.10 . So happy :)))

Sweet Make Up Temptations 16 November, 2012 - 2:10 pm

Thank you Helen, I will try the Serge Lutens and the pick up at store for the Astalift !
fantastic news 😀 I am glad you can try a different formula then, should be less creamy and more easy to work with !

Reply
helen856 16 November, 2012 - 2:15 pm

I have the Clinique too , but I always come back to the Paul and Joe double- ended mascara , which has a normal brush at one end , and at the other a litttle comb , and also a really tiny comb ( 1 cm) which is wonderful for lower lashes . Also it does NOT budge all day , and even if you cry 🙁 it doesn’t make “panda eyes” ever . You can get it in Fenwicks in Regent Street in 3 colours , but I noticed on the ichibanco site where I got the Blond Sugar pen they have it in lots more colours . I also quite liked the Givenchy Phenomen Eyes which has the weird applicator in a ball shape instead of a wand . I saw the Benefit mascara this morning in Boots – must I try it ?:)
Sonia when you’re in London I expect you’ll go to SpaceNK ? There are some gorgeous new Kevin Aucoin pencil type eyeliners , yum !

Reply
Sweet Make Up Temptations 16 November, 2012 - 2:22 pm

I only got this Benefit because of the comb, I love this kind of combs, but I don’t particularly like the formula, still looking for my HG mascara…
it was the Chanel inimitable intense some time ago but it’s already the second or third time that I buy it but I don’t find the formula as good as the first ones I had, I don’t know if that’s me, if they really changed something or if they tend to open the mascaras in the shops then they dry out more quickly… 🙁
yes of course I will go there, I will check out the Kevin Aucoin liners, one more week to wait !!! YEAH !!!
I will check out the Paul and Joe as well!

It’s called the Paul and Joe Duo mascara .
Sonia I’m intrigued that on your list of brands you don’t have Kanebo , which surprises me as their products are very good . I used to use one of their mascaras for years , ages ago ,( and when I really couldn’t afford it but it was so excellent I had to have it 🙂 ) until it was discontinued .
I have been looking at their lipsticks on the Harrods web-site .Shall you be going to have a peek when you’re in London ?

Sweet Make Up Temptations 17 November, 2012 - 2:21 pm

Thanks Helen 🙂
Oh yes I do have some kanebo, lipsticks, eyebrow, eyeshadows and I recently tried a foundation (quite nice actually), they gave me a generous sample and I might get it some day… I need to first try the La prairie 🙂 Their lipsticks are really amazing, I got a few of them when one shop decided to leave this brand they were selling all Kanebo with 70% reduction… Otherwise a lipstick is around 100usd here.
By the way, the Lunasol brushes I am waiting for, is actually a brand of Kanebo.
I will be spending some time in Liberty, Fenwick, Selfridges, Harrods… (just to mention a few). And also John Lewis, I love how wonderful their assistants are over there, I am just blown away by their kindness.

D’day Sonia ! When I type in the ” Enter your comments here ” it won’t let me type there , so I have to find a ” reply ” which means the comments are out of synch .
Anyways ; re London visit – I don’t know if you know the perfume shop Les Senteurs , but they have a new shop near Marble Arch , and they give small samples free ; their range is top ,TOP end ( Grossmith , Tauer , Lutens etc.) so it’s lovely to be able to get a touch of luxury , and for nothing 🙂 lessenteurs.com).
re : John Lewis – it’s got a bit of a jkoey ” granny shop “reputation and not seen as funky or cool ; but everyone goes there because the service is unbeatable .It’s the only Storecard I have .Oh yes , and perhaps remeber to check out the Liz Earle Nectar blush this time 🙂
I have it and it really is a gorgeous colour .

Hi Helen,
I know… at the beginning I thought 3 levels of questions and answers would be enough (otherwise it gets very thin the more the replies) but I am so glad it’s not 🙂
I may change that, I am just scared it will destroy all the comments 🙁
Thank you for the tips, so sweet of you ! I will definitely try these shops. I will be there one full week for work and if I am lucky I will be free in the evenings 🙂
I will NOT forget the Liz Earle and I will pick it for sure, sad I did not take it last time since I did not know the brand yet.

I’ll be happy to 🙂

I think I need this for the Liquid & Cheek Brush! I’ve been looking for a brush for my Shade & Illuminate… and this seems to work very well 🙂

Hahaha Bonnie:D
I can assure you that when my sons see me appraoching with makeup/ nail polish they run for the hills. My nails are generally polished & as I don’t want to ruin my mani it’s not unusual for me to want to borrow one of their unlaquered finger- or even toenails to just see how a newly arrived polish looks applied. I would use the dogs nails too, but he wont hold still:)
Yay! Happy to hear that the package has arrived. I hope you’re thrilled with the stuff you chose:)

Bonnie 19 November, 2012 - 11:49 am

Haha, you need to run quicker and catch them for your makeup experiments 😛 I guess nails work too… I’ve borrowed my brother’s a few times before too haha

I’ll let you know how the parcel is when I pick it up! Thank you once again 🙂 Sorry I didn’t reply earlier, I lost the comment and didn’t realise until I reread the whole thread today…

That Hakuhodo eye palette looks quite impressive & Elizabeth’s brilliant swatches make it even more appealing. Does anyone know whether Hakuhodo has more in the way of colour cosmetics, or is this palette a first?

Morning Sonia:)
The items so far on my Spring wishlist are the Givenchy nail polishes in grey & taupe & the Ecrin Privé eyeshadow palette; Dior = nail polishes; Suqqu = ALL of it:))
Chanel’s Printemps Precieux Highlighter looks sooooo lovely & is apparently super-limited which would normally have me front of the line, but OMG how many highhlighting products does one actually need?! I’m sure that Koyudo will come up with something new by Spring too, so I’ll probably skip the highlighter & pounce on the brushes instead:)
How about you?? Have you spotted anything yet?

Reply
Sweet Make Up Temptations 21 November, 2012 - 7:44 am

‘Morning 🙂
I have just spotted the Chanel waterproof liners of that collection 🙂
You are right, this highlighter is sooo promising ! absolutely gorgeous and the last highlighter I got from Chanel (Lumières d’artifices) was a real surprise, loving it so much.
And a JC that has “Apricot” in the name… hmhmmmmm so tempting !
I have spotted new brushes that I want to try and I will not be able to get everything so I need to be targeting really the products I *need* 😀

Reply
Buggsiebee 21 November, 2012 - 8:12 am

Hahahaha…..’need’:)
Which brushes are you after? Koyudo, Hakuhodo, Billy , or something top secret?
Got the whole Rae set btw. The same way you got the CR brushes although the FB wasn’t exactly top notch, I just needed to feel & see them for myself.
As it was the last set on the uk site I just closed my eyes & hit the purchase button. At least I was spared the import tax & duty.
The magnets in the brushes are the most ridiculous idea ever & when i think of all the extra effort it entailed to place the magnets in the brushes ?!!! NUTS!!
My double sided brow/spoolie brush rattles like crazy. I tried to take it apart to get the little bugger out of there, but the ferrule is glued on for life!! Fortunately it’s the only rattle so far & I have to day that I’m glad I made the purchase. There are some really lovely brushes in the set. Not a have to have but a happy to have:))
I’m looking into ways to de-magnetize the brushes, but I’m pretty certain that if it were at all possible you would already have found a solution.

Dena 21 November, 2012 - 9:12 am

I absolutely love the RM brushes I have – I couldn’t live without the 4, 6 or 7, and of course the radiance. But the magnets! The magnet in one of them has come loose and the rattling is driving me mad.

By the way, does anyone have another way of contacting Koyudo other than the email address on their website? I sent them an order form over a week ago and have followed up twice by email (v impatient to get my hands on some brushes!), but have not heard back.

Reply
Sweet Make Up Temptations 21 November, 2012 - 9:19 am

Hi Dena,
I have even tried to dismount a RM brush to see if I could repair it but did not manage 🙁 but I have an idea, going to try that tonight !

There is a phone number on their koyudo Home page but if you even call them, please tell us how it went !
I don’t know if they speak english at all.
It looks like they are having many events at the moment, same for Hakuhodo (but Hakuhodo still reply very fast).
Koyudo really should keep us updated, sometimes I had to wait a long time but it’s because I had to wait for the brushes to arrive (or be ready).

Buggsiebee 21 November, 2012 - 10:03 am

Hi Dena,
I also waited just over a week before sending Koyudo a gentle reminder mail which they have replied to. They applogised for the dealy & say that the brushes are still in production & that as soon as all are available I will recieve my payment advice. I think we’ve got their production running overtime:))

Dena 21 November, 2012 - 11:35 am

LOL! I have now emailed them 3 times and have not heard back. I will be heartbroken if they run out of the red squirrel brush. The wait is v dangerous, as I will end up placing another Hakuhodo order in the meantime. AND I will probably end up going shopping in London with Sonia this weekend!

Buggsiebee 21 November, 2012 - 7:02 am

Oh yes…..Tom Ford will have been creative by Spring too! Oh,…..my poor wallet:)

Reply
Kay 21 November, 2012 - 7:49 am

I remember seeing an eye palette with round pans about a year ago on Hakuhodo’s Japan website so this eye palette with square pans is not a first. The current website seems to have only the set Elizabeth has and a single palette. I got this palette in Japan last month and don’t recall seeing other makeup at the counters I visited.

Neo 21 November, 2012 - 1:16 pm

OMG, OMG, OMG!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you so much for the heads up CC!!!!!! I too have already emailed Koyudo, hopefully to hear back front them soon. They are also going to have a heart attack when they open their inbox, overflowing with all our emails :D!!!

I was wondering, for those having already placed orders with Koyudo previously: so, you send in your order, they get back to you with the final price break down, and then what? Do they send you a link to their PayPal once you ok the order? So far (like last week, before I decided to wait for the Xmas Fu-Pa to be available individually), all I’ve received was an email with a price breakdown and shipping costs, saying to please pay with my Credit Card through PayPal – but no link to their PayPal account????

What an exciting way to get up ;)!!!!!

Reply
Sweet Make Up Temptations 21 November, 2012 - 1:32 pm

This is insane 😛 so many options !!!
Basically you fill in the excel file, send it to them and they usually contact you back with the payment request when they receive the brushes, after that, it’s faster usually. I don’t think they keep them in their local stock otherwise it should be faster.
They usually send you a paypal invoice but at the beginning I did not know so I paid the total to their paypal account before they sent me the invoice… They probably think you have their paypal email (which is the same as the shop).
Not easy but I can’t complain, Chikuhodo doesn’t even ship abroad, at least Koyudo makes the effort of doing that for us…

Reply
Buggsiebee 21 November, 2012 - 1:48 pm

Sorry Sonia…I jumped the gun & aswered too:)
Hey, perhaps they have just been stalling our orders over the past week & 1/2 so that we could see this new Fu Pa release first & adjust our orders accordingly?!

Reply
Neo 26 November, 2012 - 6:25 pm

Sorry Sonia, just realized I never answered you and thanked you for all the info – shame on me!!!! So thank you :)! Seems simple enough, if they ever get back to me that is ;)!

And I agree: at least Koyudo does allow for overseas customer to have access to their brushes! But I feel that there should be a better system for that – maybe someone who is fluent in English, and a turn around time of a couple of days max to get back to customers…

But hey, we want the brushes, so we have to take it as it comes 😀

Sweet Make Up Temptations 26 November, 2012 - 10:40 pm

Hi Neo, don’t worry about that, you don’t need to thank me 🙂 it’s always a pleasure to help !
We are all so busy with the Christmas events, I imagine all companies must be a little bit under pressure.
I did send them a little email right now, just to ask them how the process was done, but I really think that when they receive an order they send it and then they just have to wait… If I ever get news I let you know. As Buggsiebee says, I also prefer that it takes some more time rather than them being done in a rush or not glued properly… rings a bell ?? 😛
I did show the Fu-Pa07p from the Christmas set to Dena this weekend, she was blown away ! She also thinks it could beat the Radiance, to me it does because it’s more versatile and the finish is more soft and more appropriate for my dry skin.
It will take long but it’s worthwhile 🙂

Buggsiebee 21 November, 2012 - 1:40 pm

Hi Neo:)
I think you’re right about us giving them a heart attack but, hey…they deserve some kind of punishment for bankrupting us all!!
They don’t send a paypal invoice. They confirm the order & send the total amount .
You just go to Paypal and pay into their shop@koyudo account. I guess if your paypal & regular mail address are not linked/ the same then it might be a good idea to write a little note in the message box. I haven’t ever had a problem/ error with a Koyudo order yet so they do appear to have some kind of functioning system:)

Reply
Neo 26 November, 2012 - 6:27 pm

Thank you Buggsiebee, and sorry also for not getting back to you right away!

And I’m glad to know there has never been an error on an order yet – they don’t seem too organized, somehow, and that got me a tad worried. Maybe they are actually super organized, and it just doesn’t show through normal interactions???? 😉

cc 21 November, 2012 - 8:30 am

Which one do you think is the Christmas FuPa? The fu-pa07-p or fu-pa08-p?

So many many more brushes to explore! This is fun 😀

The fu-pa10-p looks sort of like the liquid & cheek brush, doesn’t it?

Reply
Sweet Make Up Temptations 21 November, 2012 - 12:44 pm

the one from the Christmas set you mean ?
Have you all noticed that some of the brushes are two-sided ? One side is goat, one side synthetic… Make sure you check that out if you make any orders, it’s better not to make any mistakes …
I made an order already 🙁 just to give you a nice comprehensive review 😉

Reply
Bonnie 21 November, 2012 - 1:05 pm

Ah yes, I meant do you think the Fu-pa10-p is the liquid & cheek brush from the Christmas set? It looks exactly the same, but the hair length is almost the same.

I think I won’t get the Christmas set anymore now, but will probably get the Christmas fu-pa07-p, fu-pa13-p and the fu-pa10-p (if that one is the same or similar to the liquid & cheek from the Christmas set, either way, I think its what I’m looking for for my TF S&I). I sent Koyudo an email already but I don’t know when they will reply… hopefully soon so I can confirm my order!

Reply
Sweet Make Up Temptations 21 November, 2012 - 7:54 pm

I have checked the brushes from the Christmas set and I think they are the Fu-Pa07-p and the Fu-Pa10-p, I believe this is right but they did not give the length of the base of the ferrule, though I don’t think they made more than S and L sizes.
So fun, they must be invaded by requests by now ! 😀

Reply
Bonnie 22 November, 2012 - 4:55 am

I know! They’re going to be wondering at the sudden implosion of requests for the Christmas fu-pa, which I guess we should start calling the Fu-Pa07-p 😛

It’s all because of you!

Sweet Make Up Temptations 22 November, 2012 - 2:51 pm

Well, in a way, I do suffer at this moment because of the workload and the huge pressure… not that I don’t like my job but I had happier times. German management want the impossible 🙂 and when they get it, they want it all over again ! One of my consolations is thinking that at least I can afford this brush luxury and relax looking and using these brushes 🙂

Reply
Bonnie 22 November, 2012 - 4:56 am

Nyawww, if you ever need stress relief you can just make a bubble bath and sit there stroking your cheek with the red squirrel brush. Just don’t drop it into the bath when you fall asleep from stroking!

Becs 21 November, 2012 - 1:20 pm

Wow they came out with this even quicker than they promised. Maybe it was because of getting so many requests from this blog! I can’t believe how many there are I thought from the email they would just be selling the ones in the Christmas set separately. I think they must know that everyone was so interested so they decided to tempt us all with so many and a seven sided brush!! I am such a novice don’t even know how to use makeup and brushes properly but I want these so very much.

Which ones did you order Sonia? I am glued to my email every night awaiting your posts and everyone’s comments it is so highly addictive!!!

Nikoleta 21 November, 2012 - 1:28 pm

Reply
Sweet Make Up Temptations 21 November, 2012 - 1:51 pm

They are very naughty 😛 I think they were preparing something and waiting for the perfect moment to come up with them !
I ordered a lot but it’s not because I really need them, it’s also to write about them – it’s my excuse 🙂 but I admit that if I didn’t have the blog I wouldn’t have ordered so many.
I selected these : Fu-pa05-p, Fu-pa08-p, Fu-pa09-p, Fu-pa12-p, Fu-pa13-p, Fu-pa11-p, Fu-pa06-p.

I think the ones that really need to be considered first are the Fu-pa07-p, then maybe the Fu-pa08-p, Fu-pa11-p, Fu-pa13-p…etc etc etc
And I added these two H008 and BP039, because they were in the pipeline just waiting for my next order…

So sweet of you to say that 🙂 In the near future I will be reviewing my other Koyudo, some Lunasol (3), some BillyB (5) and the Hakuhodo white maple kabukis (3). Need to receive them first 🙁

What do you do with all your brushes that you don’t use as often!?

Reply
Bonnie 21 November, 2012 - 2:33 pm

And you are so amazing for reviewing all these brushes and products for us!

Reply
Sweet Make Up Temptations 21 November, 2012 - 3:01 pm

The ones I cannot use (too scratchy for my skin) or that I don’t like to use at all I give them away or sell them.
The ones I can use, I keep them for review comparisons (pictures) or for future use – you know sometimes you have the brush but you didn’t find the perfect product for it or you don’t always immediately think about the perfect match 🙂
I am lucky to have a brush organization that allows me to see all the brushes at once and use them all. I never use the same brush two days in a row unless I am preparing a review, I force myself to always use a different one 😛

Reply
Bonnie 22 November, 2012 - 2:40 pm

I was thinking…I’d probably lose track of all those brushes! I know I’d really hate to give a product away and then think back later on that it would have worked with a better product. But then again, I guess there are just products that you know just won’t work for you 🙂

The good thing about having so many brushes is that you don’t have to wash them as often, that’s good for the life of the brush too haha

Argh, right now, I’m battling a bout of terrible dry patches, more than the usual. I returned home for a week or two, and it’s so awfully dry and hot that my skin isn’t coping. It’s especially bad around my eyes and my under-eye and I never know what products to use there…I think I need to stop buying makeup and brushes and look into getting a good skincare product instead!

Sweet Make Up Temptations 22 November, 2012 - 2:50 pm

Hello Bonnie,
Yes that’s good not to have to wash them so often but great squirrel brushes live longer if you do use them often 🙂
never good to leave them unused that’s why I reach for all of them as often as I can 🙂
I am going to try the Murad serum soon, Dena told me it was fantastic against dry patches !
I also have horrible dry patches (mainly after my Armani Fusion experience… still in recovery mode), so I need to splurge on a good serum !

Bonnie 23 November, 2012 - 12:44 pm

I think mine’s just from intense dryness in country Australia 🙁

I was so desperate I tried this Alpha Keri Rich Cream Intensive that my parents had lying around on the table, checked it was okay for face, and dabbed it on. It worked! So far… I’ve only used it once but I’m going to try it again tonight and see how it goes. Should probably not be experimenting but…

CC 22 November, 2012 - 9:08 am

That is one very impressive order list! I hope you found one that can rival or perform even better than the Radiance since its constantly sold out all the time!

Btw, how much are those cute little maple kabukis from Hakuhodo? I did not wanna ask Marty because I know I will ended up buying it. I have a long brush shopping list I have yet to clear! So for now, ignorance is bliss.. 😛

Reply
Sweet Make Up Temptations 22 November, 2012 - 10:18 am

Hi CC, now that I have the Fu-pa7p I don’t reach so much for the Radiance but the Radiance is still a must-have of course.
I tried my thick cream foundation with the G543 (dry), heavier coverage but nice results (did not had to correct or change anything afterwards).
I also tried the Fu-Pa7p with the RMK foundation, gorgeous !
Thanks again for sharing the Fupa link 🙂 that was such a great surprise !

The Hakuhodo maple kabukis are as follows :
Large: $180
Medium: $120
Small: $ 72

I am concentrating on brushes at the moment as you can see, but next year it will be more about tutorials, makeup and different posts.
Since I don’t have much space and a proper lighting, brush posts are more appropriate for now 🙂

There aren’t many posts on this kind of brushes, I hope it’s helping 🙂

Reply
cc 23 November, 2012 - 1:35 am

I did a Karate-chop-painting style on my face yesterday using a Fupa02 and I really love the result. I gotta order this fupa07p since it is gorgeous with the RMK foundation. Are you loving it (the foundation) so far?

Your idea of makeup tutorials excites me. 🙂 And I am sure this would have all of us engage our ideas even more (and better!). I cannot wait! 😀

Reply
Sweet Make Up Temptations 23 November, 2012 - 8:45 am

The Fupa07p happens to be the most versatile foundation brush I ever had !
I am still loving the RMK foundation, wearing it today but I need to wear it a few more times. Recently I have a few dry patches that just don’t go away. They started to appear when I tried the Armani Fusion and I am slowly getting rid of them, it’s getting better after regular very gentle exfoliation and treatment but some are still here so I don’t know if it’s really a good idea to keep on trying this RMK foundation when my skin is like this. After the RMK foundation my skin has a sheer to medium coverage, flawless but very slightly leaning towards the dry side.
Nearly all of my current foundations are touching the bottom of the bottle so I will need probably a new foundation shortly, I think I will be getting either the RMK or the La Prairie (if I manage to try it…) I am also considering Cle de Peau. So one of these three for sure 🙂

I hope the works at home will finish soon and I then I can start with more different posts ! thank you so much for your support, you are so sweet <3
