This is just a short review of some of the new Addiction brushes, first I ordered the blush brush, the eyeshadow B and the S, then I thought the P and C would really be interesting and I splurged on these other two as well.
Overall, I am happy to have them but not that blown away by their quality, mainly because since they are so difficult to get from anywhere outside of Japan, we have to pay a higher price for them, therefore not reflecting their “real” value for money.
The blush brush
6300 Y – Goat and grey squirrel
Base of the ferrule : 2cm, hair length : 4cm
It’s soft, wide and flat, big enough for bronzer, a good size for blush if you are not looking for a very precise brush, and if you turn it, it can work for contour.
The Suqqu is the softest of the 4, the Chikuhodo the denser, the RMK is a smaller version of the Addiction, same softness and shape.
The eyeshadow B
3780 Y – Weasel and squirrel
Base of the ferrule : 1.2cm, length of the hair : 2.1cm.
Great brush for all over shadow, picks more product than the Suqqu L.
Very soft but not as soft as the Suqqu L, bigger and firmer than the Suqqu L therefore it’s a very good brush for applying the base and also blending. Actually I LOVE it.
The Shu Uemura is firmer than this Addiction B.
The eyeshadow P
3990 Y – Weasel
Base of the ferrule : 1.2cm, hair length : 2cm
This brush is fun and interesting, allows a very precise application and if you turn it sideways, you can press the powder a bit more firmly, this could help to apply some powder eyeshadow along the lash line for example.
The eyeshadow C
3150 Pony
Base of the ferrule : 0.5cm, hair length : 1.2cm
Not sure about this brush, every time I use it, I have fallout, I don’t find it very soft and well, it wasn’t a revelation like the Nars 12 for example…
The eyeshadow S
3200 Y – Racoon
The Mac 239 is way better, same as above, I have fallout with this brush, it’s just not working for me. It’s very thin and very firm. I have to see what I could do with this one… maybe there’s a better way… I think it’s my first “racoon” brush and I am not very impressed.
My current thoughts
The eyeshadow B and P are very good brushes, the others I find them too expensive for what they are, of course even more if you imported them at a higher price than the Japanese one.
The handles are beautiful, they feel solid and heavy but I was hoping a more gradient burgundy-black handle, I can barely see the red depending on the light and I found the promotion pictures were really beautiful with this gradient finish.
If you have tried them, please share your comments on them, I am also interested to read how you managed to get the best out of the two C and S brushes for example.
Thanks 🙂

The eye brushes look really good and unique, especially the pointed brush, no brand offer this shape but the price is high and taxes from Japan would dissuade me for sure 🙂 I’d love that hakuhodo came with similar shape.
I agree, the price is too high 🙁 and the taxes on top of that, makes this a crazy purchase !
Thanks for another lovely post. 🙂
Eyeshadow B and P looks good but since I have a similar one from Lunasol already, I think I am gonna give this a pass.. I am practically camping in Hakuhodo’s website this past week, checking out all the brushes, measuring my own brushes, and see which one I would wanna order once the J-series is available online. Can’t wait! Do you have any particular one you are looking to get? I am building my shopping list and I would really love to hear which ones you will be targeting. I read from some Asian magazines that the Chantecaille cheek brush is highly recommended. Have you seen (or touched) one?
My dear Sonia, you are right about the Iglot eyeshadows. So pigmented and long wearing. I stood in the shop for almost 2 hours (yes, 110 minutes!!) and got 10 colors.. Then got another 6 colors from Shu Uemura. I officially gave myself an ‘eyeshadow ban’ order! But no ban for brushes (never!!). 😀
Thank you CC !
I am also in the process of selecting the ones I want from Hakuhodo… not an easy process to narrow down the number because they are all very tempting… I have a few ones written down, I printed the list with the pictures and I am rating them from 1 to 10 and putting an exclamation mark on the ones I need 😀 I haven’t finished yet 😀 isn’t it totally crazy ???!!
I haven’t checked out the Chantecaille brushes at all, I have the little eyeshadow brush that comes with the 8 pan empty palette but that’s the only one I have…
😀 110mn for 11 eyeshadows !!! not bad !! I hope you got the shades you were hoping to find !
Oh Thank God!! I thought I have gone insane by doing all the ratings, measuring, making a list and all. I am glad I found my partner in crime! 😀
So which ones are on your top list already? I am looking at J214, J5523, J528, J5521, J5543.. B505.. Not sure whether to get 224 or 235 (the weasel hair ones).. B162.. J116.. Too many I am going broke!!
Hilarious !
I will let you know, I will check if I took the list with me in my lunch break.. just a few minutes away now 🙂
The problem is that I haven’t narrowed it down yet 🙁
That’s not going to work… 33 brushes are listed in my selection, have to work harder to narrow down that number ! 🙁 sad… but we can’t have everything right ?!
Will let you know…
Wow Sonia!!!
You’ve been doing the SUPERWOMAN thing again:))
THREE detailed, well researched & photographed posts within two days!!
As you know, I also have 2 of the Addiction brushes ( the B and the highlighter brush ) & i’m certainly happy to have them but they’re not ‘must have’ brushes in my opinion. Nice to have but no neccesity & not worth the extremely inflated price tag which I paid when ordering from Cherryscosmetics.
I was wicked and ordered the red rose kabuki from Koyudo. It arrived this morning! When it’s dry i’ll send you pics. Would you believe, it lost NO dye while having it’s first bath?!! That’s what I call quality. I’m not really sure how I will be using it but I just loved it’s beautiful redness. In my eyes, it’s a work of art :))
I think I will have to give in eventually & get the Shu 18R too so that my red Koyudo rose has a red brush friend:)
Thank you Buggsiebee 🙂
Sometimes I am ok to pay extra to have someone forwarding me the items, BUT, the insane taxes on top of that makes them not worth the price tag. Still the B and P are nice ones that I reach for often. For the price I treat them like the most expensive and luxurious jewels … 🙁
There is no questioning the Koyudo quality, they are just excellent ! From the beginning of the manufacturing to the final packaging, you feel quality, I never ever received such a greatly packaged parcel in my life, even Harrods and Selfridges don’t make it as luxurious !
Looking forward to receiving the pics 🙂
After reading cc’s comment it reminded me that I forgot to mention that since reading your Inglot post, I decided that I MUST try some of their shadows. Remember I said that I was at Inglot ih Dusseldorf, but came home with nothing? I don’t know how/ why that happened because after your post, I ordered some Inglot shadows and they’re REALLY excellent!!! Perhaps I was just having an ‘off makeup’ day ;P
I ordered my shadows from an ebay seller in Poland. The items are 100% authentic & the communication & shipping time were great, so if you want to publish the link, let me know OK?
Thanks for yet ANOTHER great tip:D
I have planned to review some cheaper eyeshadow and blush options, I have nearly all of the MakeupGeek, quite a few of the Stars MakeupHeaven and some La Femme blushes and other misc options… I could not live without the luxurious brands that I love.. but… there are very nice, less expensive options that deserve to have some attention 🙂
Sometimes you end up spending the same amount, because you order more… 🙁
Glad you loved the Inglot !
Hi Buggsiebee,
I know, right.. Inglot store has always been there in the city I visit frequently and yet it has never occurred to me that maybe I should try them.. But I am glad I did cos they are awesome. Oh, the colors I got are Shine 45, Pearl 397, Matte 361, Matte 383, Matte 375, Pearl 418, Pearl 419, Matte 387, Pearl 451, DS 465. If you want to see swatches I could do them for you (by email.. I mean.. 🙂 ) since we share the same Mac shade (NC25).
Just a thought. 🙂
I googled the colors you got cc. Nice choices:))
Thanks for the offer of swatches. That’s so kind! I don’t want to cause you any extra work though. I tried to swatch some shades once & it was a disaster!! Have you ever done swatches before? Perhaps Sonia could pass on my e-mail address to you & if you do swatch anyway I’d be really happy to see them……AND the Shu colors of course:))
I had to choose mine from online swatches so I made one or two color mistakes, but generally I’m very happy with my selection. I ordered 2 palettes with 10 shades each for a total of €114,- which is a fair price don’t you think?
Hi Buggsiebee,
20 colors for €114?? That’s a really good deal! I paid €7.70 for each color and the casing costs me €11.70.. The Shu I got is from their latest limited edition palette, Raspberry and Mocha, for €46.50. I have never done any swatches before but I would love to try. If it goes well, I shall email the pictures to Sonia and have her forward to you. 🙂
Sonia, 33 brushes?! Wow! Take your time.. 🙂
Have a great weekend, girls!! 😀
And the €114,- was including shipping so that really was a good deal. That’s funny, I ALSO got the Raspberry & Mocha palette. I really am a fan of Shu eyeshadows !!
I need to get onto my Hakuhodo list too or be the time I want to order everything will be sold out already. All sold to cc & Sonia:D
A happy weekend to you too!
It’s super sunny here:))
Sonia! I love you! I was googling the London Brush Company when I got sidetracked (so easy to do) and found myself looking at the Kose Addiction Brush set. I was really curious so even though I didn’t think that anyone would have posted anything on them, I ran a google search anyway and you popped up. Thank you for doing these reviews on hard-to-find items! I think my head would explode of curiosity if not for you. 🙂
😀 you crack me up ! thank you Tori !!!
so sweet of you ! I am glad it helped, let me know if you have any questions 😉
I spent some time looking for posts about them but not many out there 🙁
Hi Sonia, I was wondering if you know what hair the powder brush is made of? I know you don’t have it in this post but couldn’t really find other info elsewhere – I just ordered it yesterday out of weakness after seeing the gradient handle.
