Rouge d’Armani lipsticks – a well-deserved Award

by Sonia G.

When I first tried this formula, I was thrilled, I loved everything about it. I started with the very safe 102 that I could wear on a daily basis paired with any look, I loved to create dark eye looks and that lipstick was just perfect.

As you can see I went totally wild and crazy about them, the good consequence is that today I own most of the range…

There is something about them that makes them look incredibly stunning on the lips, whatever the age. I am finally able to wear bright shades and yet still look elegant ! The color range is so tempting, I think these were the first lipsticks that really got me addicted and made me try more dazzling and daring shades.

Rouge d’Armani is a very long-lasting formula, they claim 8 hours but on my lips there is no way they last the 8 hours, they do last around 3 to 4 hours but I am happy with that, the darker ones last longer than the others and the stain remains on the lips for a very long time, it will slowly fade in an even and natural looking way, my lips never look dry or patchy.

The packaging is also gorgeous and elegant, it’s a black lacquered case with a magnetic closure, feels heavy, solid and luxurious.

The numbers are written at the back, I have put them upside down for you to see the numbers and the corresponding shades :

The swatches have been taken with flash but I hope it will give you an idea of the shade and the intensity.

The “100” is the beige range. I have 3 and my favorite of the 3 is the 102.

The “400” is the red range, I have only one, the 401, absolutely gorgeous ! This shade is so in your face but you can tone it down if that scares you, I am totally in love with it, it brightens my face and with a black eyeliner it’s one of my favorite looks.

The “500” is the pink range,  I have many of them, some are more appropriate for the office and others are more sexy and daring. My favorite for the office is the 512 but I could actually wear any shade for the office, except from the purple and the red one.  Usually barbie-bubblegum pinks don’t suit me at all but this 508 does !

The swatches don’t show how intense and beautiful the shades are in real life, believe me, they are to die for. My favorites are the 503, 508, 509, 510, 511, 519, 521, … Some are more coral than pink, but either way, they all are extremely flattering shades. I don’t often reach for the pink mauve shades ( for example 501, 502) but other than that, I am in love with the rest of the range.

The “600” is the plum range, I own only one and that’s enough, although I love it I don’t have the opportunity to wear it often.

The “200” is the brown range,  I have to stay away from brown lipsticks, whatever the texture! No brown lipsticks for me!

Here are the 1st, 2nd and 3rd rows swatched :

They have been around for a while now, if you haven’t tried them yet, you may consider doing that as a Top Priority 🙂

I’m with you Sonia.
I love the Armani lippies. The packaging is functional & chic and the lipstick has the consistency I like. They’re moisturising, reasonably long lasting & not too creamy.
I don’t have an Armani store close by so I have bought all of mine sight unseen and I have yet to be disappointed. I got the Armani Fall 2012 eye & cheek palette in brown AND in black! I just couldn’t decide on one & and the palettes are limited. I still had a Douglas gift voucher left from Christmas!!! plus I got 10% discount so I splurged.
It was very greedy, I know:(((

I agree….. love these! 506 is one of my favorite across the board lipsticks.

Love this post! Lipsticks are my true weakness!

Do you also wear bright shades Stacy?

Buggsiebee, I do wear bright shades just not dark shades any more….
I am trying to find that balance of face brightening but not in your face clown shades. I remember when I was first married I owned one Clinique lipstick (Rasberry Glace) and then I got adventurous and bought one Chanel (wish I could remember the name Rose something)! Oh the simple life!!!
How about you? Brights or neutrals?

I love armanis too, I managed to collect quite of them and am tempted now by the 401 but I wonder if it is not too orange on lips.

It IS bright but it’s not a clowny orange 🙂

I’m pretty boring when it comes to lipstick. I do like brights and red but not on me. I prefer peachy/ pinky shades on my aging lips:)
I tend to highlight my face with a pop of color on the cheeks rather than on the lips.
Although I enjoy experimenting with new shades of lipstick my favourite makeup items are blush, highlighter, mascara & lots of lovely brushes :))

Got the lip maestro 402 , it is a really good liquid lipstick, very slicony, color is similar to dior dolce vita, a bright red with orange undertone. texture is similar to the limited lancome Creme de mat but lancome’s have less slip, I prefer lancome though. Wanted to get two or three colors from armani but finally got a back up of magie pourpre and potion d’amour from lancome, these are such unique and pretty colours (magie pourpre is similar to ellis faas fushia and potion d’amour is the most stunning deep berry red I’ve seen).

If you have the opportunity, they worth checking, I know you don’t wear often bold shades but there are some nude pinky colours that are quite interesting (donna shorts made a video wearing the 501 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LCg3xDAFn9k).
thanks to your swatches, I was quite drawn to the rouge d’armani 502, I was affraid it would be too mauvey browny but it is such a stunning colour on my lips, the most perfect nude ever, slightly “poussière de rose” (on this russian blog the colour is as on my lips just a tad darker: http://kosmetista.ru/blog/otzivi/24529.html).
BTW, for those who have access to kiko cosmetics luscious cream lipsticks and want a nice nude pinky colour, similar to chanel la raffinée, the number 504 is very good, the formula is nice, but nothing more, though very good value for the money. argh, I know, these Armani are so wearable on the lips !!! I love how she wears it !
I have two Kiko but I am not wearing them right now, I don’t remember why but I think I took two shades that are too nude and wash me out… let me check again 🙂
