I have recently purchased the Suqqu Creamy Base, the Foundation and the Nuancing Powder in order to test them together, hoping that these products will be appropriate for my very, very, dry skin.
I need more days in order to say if they will be comfortable enough for me to wear all day, but I thought that it will be good to post something at the start of the tests with my very first impressions, and then I will update this post after approx 10 days to see if my skin really liked it or not. So far, I am not sure it will.
The finish is too matte for my taste, I haven’t found the right balance between not looking overly glowy and setting the foundation with powder. I never used powder before because it tends to dry my skin completely, giving me dry patches on my chin, cheeks and flakes all over the nose area.
The products I am using today are, in the right order, the Astalift Jelly Aquarysta, Laura Mercier Repair creme, Suqqu Makeup Base Creamy, Suqqu Foundation 30, Suqqu Nuancing Pressed Powder Natural.
The Astalift I just started using it yesterday, I wanted to get it when I was in the UK but at the end it was only available online. When I got home yesterday I had a little pot waiting for me in the mail… my friend Dena surprised me and sent it to me as a gift, she also has very dry skin and when I met her, I think she was using the Jelly for 3 weeks, her skin was definitely looking VERY good and she recommended this Jelly to me.
The Laura Mercier Repair creme is the only one that works for me at the moment.
The Suqqu Makeup Base Creamy
It is meant to conceal pores and even out skin tone, I quote : “It naturally lightens and fine-tunes any discoloration to leave the skin flawless. For use with creamy type foundation.”
It’s light pink, blends to a transparent finish, we can say that it lightens but I don’t have much redness on my skin and I don’t see much of a difference afterwards, a little bit but I am not “so” impressed. I have applied it with my fingertips.
Costs 33 Gbp and there is only one shade available.
The Suqqu Foundation – 30
It has SPF17, comes with a white sponge but I have applied it with the Koyudo Fu-Pa 02. They told me it was the most comfortable foundation they had for dry skin but they said I should use it together with their Creamy Base.
The foundation comes in 6 shades and costs 62 Gbp.
It’s clearly not the best foundation I have used for my skin, I don’t think that the heavy feeling it has equals the coverage that it provides. This foundation feels on the skin like it should be providing a bit more coverage, maybe I am not applying like I should since it comes with a sponge, but I don’t like sponges at all, the Koyudo Fu-Pa did a very good job with the blending, but anyway I had higher expectations with this foundation.
I will keep on wearing it for a few days to see if my opinion changes. When it’s time to apply it in the morning I am not really looking forward to it, so that’s not a very good sign. I need to give it a few more days and see how it goes.
The Suqqu Nuancing Pressed Powder Natural
I told them I didn’t want powder, but they insisted this powder would not dry out my skin. Unfortunately, it does remove the little bit of glow that is still present after the Suqqu foundation application. In the picture, there is a powder swatch (size of a finger) on top of the base I had previously applied on my hand, you can maybe see in the zoom picture that the thin swatch of the powder has completely mattified the application, it’s ok if that’s what you are looking for, it feels silky and not powdery but I have to continue using it to see if I can find the right way to apply it but not loose the little bit of glow and comfort that I love to have. I used the RMK face powder, very lightly patting the powder onto my skin.
I took some pictures without any other makeup on, except for the jelly and the moisturizer so that you can see how the application evolves. As you can see there is a lot to cover, but I am not looking for a heavy application, I still want to look natural and dewy.
This picture is for the Creamy base. On the left the amount of base I was going to apply. On the right, the finished base application :
On the left, a picture showing the amount of foundation I applied, on the right the finished application of the foundation – of course on top of the Creamy Base :
It looks like I applied a lot of blush but the flash is really accentuating the color ! After some makeup and the powder, and even some highlighter on the top of the cheekbones and the temples, my skin is a bit too matte, despite the very strong flash …
This picture has been taken just 1 hour after, I had just reapplied some lipstick. It has been taken under studio lights at home (no flash), the lighting is more true to reality :
I still did not manage to do my tightline correctly with my new products… but I will one day 😛
I will update this post after a few days, if you have any suggestions or questions, please don’t hesitate 😉
