I cannot go to London and not get a few Inglot items. This time I also picked up two brushes, the 4SS and the 5FS.
I am looking for big eyeshadow brushes and small blush brushes at the moment..
…how weird is that ???
Inglot 4SS
The 4SS is a BIG eyeshadow brush… that can make a small highlighter brush, so either way I wanted this one. It’s made from “squirrel substitute”, what it is, I don’t know, but I sent an email to Inglot asking them exactly what material was used and also how and if the brushes were cruelty free. On their website, it’s filed under “Natural eye brushes” and not the synthetic ones. The hair length is 2.2 cm long and 0.8 mm at the base of the ferrule.
They actually have a very clever way of naming their brushes… well, not that you need to be an Einstein to come up with it…
Sometimes it does not correspond entirely (maybe a language difference) but the letters are meant to represent what they are made of :
SS = squirrel substitute
FS = fine squirrel
PO = pami and ox
PP = pami and pony
TL = taklon and ox
M = Nylon
T = Taklon
I put the other brushes in the picture to have a better idea of the size. It feels soft, not soft as squirrel but still soft.. Softer than the Claudio Riaz instant shadows anyway. I was really optimistic thinking I could use this one for my crease π
You can either use it as a highlighter brush or to blend your eyeshadow application, if you want a soft all-over blending… It’s dense, costs 18 Gbp. Feels solid and is good quality for the price.
Inglot 5FS
The 5FS is a huge flat and soft brush, the material is “fine squirrel”. The hair length is 1cm, 1.3cm at the base of the ferrule. The tip of the brush is approx 3mm wide so the surface it will cover is Β huge = 5mm. It costs 14 Gbp.
It’s a nice brush to use on men by the way, or if you have large eyebrows, I do and I am looking for a brush to use on a daily basis. I don’t have perfect eyebrows, they are a bit wild and sparse in the inner corner but I don’t want a heavy brow routine so I would simply only roughly fill the inner corner.
I don’t like to thread them myself, everytime I do, at each hair removed I sneeze… and I can hear my boyfriend Β murmuring to me from the living room “I know what you are doooooiiiiinnnggg“…
What I love is to have them waxed, I love the feeling of the warm wax but everytime I go they tell me “Are you sure you want to use wax? you don’t have many...” YES I want wax please… Β that’s why I cannot go often, I pay a lot for a little tiny amount of wax and very little work…
This is my terrible eyebrow… and my eye without any make up on :
The flat imprint left by the brush on my hand, 5mm wide :
First I comb them with the brush, then I dip the brush on the powder, tap the excess out and I brush from the inner to the center, I don’t need to go further out.
and that’s the wild result, far from perfect but good enough for the fastest eyebrow routine ever π
I don’t have any other brow brush, I usually take a pencil brush and apply some powder with that. I also use the Suqqu eyebrow pen but it takes a long time to cover all that surface and of course it’s much more expensive for a daily use. If I am going to work with my motorbike I will use the Suqqu because it lasts and won’t move despite the helmet and the sweat.. Β but for a normal day use, this brush is perfect for me.
If and when Inglot replies to me, I will update the post with more info on the brushes.
These brushes are not expensive and good quality for the price ! I haven’t tried the other ones and I was not interested to do so at that time but maybe next time I am in a Inglot shop I probably will…
UPDATE …
Just a few swatches for Stacy π
and for anyone interested in some Inglot swatches… (or taupes… )
I am afraid I could not find the names of the 8 and 9 eyeshadows, I don’t remember if they are from Inglot or the Make Up Store… I used to depot everything and not always write the name π Before they used to have round ones but I just cannot remember where these came from.
At least you have some swatches of the InglotΒ (the 3 others are in the London Trip post – the gold and the teals), in total I have 10 eyeshadows…
I have also swatched some of the others in case you are wondering where they came from…
If any interest I can give you the names of the Guerlain singles.
And here are the swatches of the Addiction shadows I have, I had the swatches ready for a post but I am not satisfied with the lighting so I put them here for you in the meantime, even if these are not relevant to the Inglot brushes…
Since Stacy asked how they compared to the Inglot, they are MORE expensive, more finely milled but Inglot are totally insane good for the price.
And in case you are wondering what the lipsticks I was talking about in the comments look like, here are some swatches π

Hi Sonia! I need to try some Inglot products! A sweet friend sent me a blush and eye palette a while back and because the colors aren’t “me” I neglect them. I should play with them though and get some eyeshadows in colors that would work better for me. Whenever I am on their website I get very overwhelmed with the choices!!!!
Stacy
Hi Stacy ! what kind of colors do you like to use ? taupes and neutrals ?
I think I may have 10 Inglot eyeshadows, mainly neutrals and taupes… would you like me swatch them for you ? Took me a while to select them so I know how you feel …
I don’t tend to use greens or blues but sometimes I blend a bright shade underneath my eyes with a darker eyeliner just in the outside corner, it allows me to wear bright summery looks without looking tacky π
Oh yes please!! That is exactly what I wear and when you start looking up swatches online before you know it the day is gone! That would be so helpful! I hate to even ask but how would you compare the Inglot eyeshadows to Addiction? I am sure you prefer Addiction but I am curious as to your comparison thoughts…..
Stacy
Stacy, sure I can do that ! I will try to post them tonight and will add a little comparison with the Addiction. I think I will open the studio lights when I get home if I have enough time, I also need to take some lipstick swatches for my pending reviews. I am just not happy with the lighting at this moment, that’s why I mainly write about brushes right now π
I am here to help, please don’t ever hesitate to ask !
Well I do have another question!! How do you like your Sisley blush? I am online right now making Koyuso decisions! Love the quality of these brushes!!!
And thank you for the Inglot swatches in advance!
I love it, the Mango shade is just the kind of shades that flatters me and makes me look younger, I tend to use it either alone or on top of bronzer, either way it looks gorgeous, unfortunately I have many dupes but now that I have the Sisley I tend to reach for this one more! – but I still prefer the RMK.. π
Good to hear! I had ordered and goodness knows I need to look younger! π What is your favorite lip color to wear with it? Joyce has me intrigued with those Inglot brushes π
Will it ever end?
Hi Sonia! The Inglot 4SS brush is actually one of my favorite brushes of all time. I LOVE using it to highlight my cheekbones and to apply setting powder under my eye are & around my nose. The size of the brush is PERFECT for those types of application. By the way, squirrel substitute usually means goat hair. Also, have you tried the Inglot 80HP brush? It’s really dense and firm! I like using it to define my outer v. Definitely try it if you haven’t already! =)
Hi Joyce, good to know thank you !!! I certainly like how it’s made and I know I will use it for sure !
I will add the 80HP to my wishlist π What I like is that they seem to have a great variety of brushes ! and very different and interesting shapes, have you tried the 7FS ? I have a Hakuhodo that is similar but bigger and I love that shape !
I haven’t tried the 7FS, but how would you use it? I don’t have many angled eye brushes. Do you use your Hakuhodo for blending?
By the way, how was the customer service at your Inglot store? I went to 2 Inglot stores and I had poor customer service both times. =( The sales rep at the 1st store tried to “hard sell” me and made me feel really uncomfortable. The sales rep at 2nd store was clueless about the brand. First, she said all the brushes were made of synthetic material and that they don’t sell the natural brushes. Then, I asked another sales rep and she said they have the natural version and the synthetic version of each brush. So, I asked for the natural version of the blush brush and kept asking her, “Are you sure it’s made of natural hair?” She kept saying, “Yes, yes, don’t worry.” When I went home, I noticed it was synthetic. -_-
Hi Stacy, the lipsticks would be Edward B. Night Orchid, Dior 448 Tulip Pink, Shu CR330, Mac Fanfare, Armani 507 (but I am not sure about the number…), just to say a few…
No, it will never end… π
Joyce, I use it for blending or applying base, it works wonders and feels like heaven… it’s this one http://sweetmakeuptemptations.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/fb_base.jpg
I went to the Inglot in London Westfield Shopping center, it was fine, they wanted to help but I told them I already knew the system and they left me to browse in peace…
I often have to double check the items so I do it automatically after leaving the shop, it’s not that I don’t trust them, but because my english is not very good, sometimes they don’t understand what I asked for π or maybe they do, but they just give me something else π
It’s a shame they are so pushy sometimes !!! I hate it when this happens.
It’s so pity Inglot is not sold here, brushes seem a really good deal and from some swatches their shadows look quite promising.
I’ve made a koyudo purchase too, shame on me, financially this wasn’t the right moment but I had a weak moment after midnight π I finally got the liquid foundation brush I mentioned in my mail (H016), another fup-pa02, a stippling brush and a kabuki. As I have planned to make a gift to me for my birthday, I decided I’ll take these ones instead of chikuhodo Z-8 (the price was really high on kohlindo – more than 140 euros shipping included).
Nikoleta, I just made my 2nd Koyudo order today too. Shame on me! It is easy to have weak moments with these brushes! I ordered the mushroom, eye L, eye s, and a blush brush. I think I will have to stop for a while….. or at least try. All this Koyudo is your fault isn’t it? Thank you π And Happy Birthday, I take it it’s coming up?
Stacy
waow that’s expensive compared to the original price !
HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!! π
for my 40th birthday I got myself the Suqqu face powder… but I should have bought 40 brushes to put on my cake !
That’s a FANTASTIC idea!!!! I’d actually look forward to my 50th if I knew there were going to be 50 brushes on it:)))
Happy birthday?? When? What? Did I miss the cake????
Oh I like that idea! When 50 rolls around I want 50 brushes for my cake!!
Sonia did you just have a birthday too?
Stacy
π
No, it was a long time ago the Suqqu face powder..
This year for my birthday I got xenon lights for my motorbike… great, but no brushes π
Now is the Year of the Japan Brush … anytime of the year ! π
Yes! The year of brushes and cosmetics from Japan! Should we include skin care? π
I have no idea what time it is for you but surely you should be asleep π
We will include skin care for sure !
Yes, I wanted to go to sleep but my boyfriend had an emergency at work and since he was working and on the phone till late, I couldn’t sleep π
Hellooooo:)))
My, my, you guys have been VERY busy in my absence:)
Sonia! How do you squeeze all these posts into your already very busy day?? You are SO dilligent!! No neglecting the studying for exams I hope?
We had a ‘fun’ long weekend in Holland helping my brother in law & his girlfriend move into their new home. So far we have had such a dismal Summer, but these past days while moving were SO darn hot!! Really bad timing for the good weather:(
I visited the Inglot store in DΓΌsseldorf a while back and I left with NOTHING! I had always thought that I would go wild – buying everything I saw but it was just too overwhelming I guess. There was just way too much choice. I even went back a second time to make sure, but I just couldn’t get exited about anything. I didn’t even look at the brushes.
The sales staff there were great though. I told them that I just wanted to look & I swatched my way through half the shop. They just let me be & offered me a cloth to wipe it all off:))
They were probably just thinking……’stupid foreigner!’
I felt really bad leaving with nothing.
Just thinking of you Bugggsiebee!
Welcome back! You were missed! Sonia is amazing isn’t she! I can not figure out how she has the time to keep us all enthralled like she does! LOVE IT!
Stacy
Stacy I have uploaded some swatches but I haven’t finished numbering them… will do that tomorrow π
Thank you so much! You are the best!!
HEYYY ! welcome back, we missed you π
I missed you guys too, but it was a strictly kids & family few days. No silly beauty stuff.
They hate it!
I think Sonia is superwoman:)
We have been very naughty and have been ordering like crazy !!! π
did you receive your brushes ???
My replacement Rae Morris set arrived at the customs and guess what ? I have to pay an awful lot of customs…. GRRR
I won’t be getting until maybe next week, or if really really lucky, this Thursday. It will arrive to a colleague’s house in France and she has to pick it up for me..
They did not deliver to Switzerland.
Last time I did not had to pay taxes because the parcel came from the UK, this time it comes from Australia… I did not think I would paying taxes on a replacement set…
I did get my brushes. Did you see that i sent you the measurements? I’ll send pics tommorrow.
That is so BAD with the heavy customs fees for the Rae Morris set. They had BETTER be good this time after all the upset & expense they have caused.
PFFF sure I did see your comments and the measures… I am sooo sleep-writing right now π
They better be good after all this trouble π
oh you are both so funny with your comments.. at work they used to call me wonderwoman, I could repair anything π … I really would love to be superwoman but I actually need much more sleep than her π
P.S. Sonia….I know you must’ve seen this…..

VERY funny. Had me laughing out LOUD!!
yes I did of course, funny to see him in a different position… π
these inglot shadows are really nice, I like the three bronze shadows the most, they seem pigmented and not too powdery. I hope Inglot will come to France too.
They aren’t powdery and are extremely pigmented ! I hope they will come to Switzerland too but if they do, they will sell them 3x the price at least…
I think that is what bothers me with the Inglot brand. They started off relatively cheap but get more expensive by the day. I understand about supply & demand but I just feel that there’s a whole lot of rip- off involved too. I mean if they could produce & sell them so cheaply in Poland why can’t they continue to do so? Probably so that they can afford the rent for their stores in Dusseldorf:))
The matt # 363 is right up my alley. How could I have overlooked it??
I definitely had a severe case of sensory overload in that store.
Stumbled onto your blog after I Googled the Inglot 5FS brush. I see that you use it as a brow brush, but you may be interested to know that an LA-based makeup artist named Matthew Van Leeuwen used it in a way that I would have never thought to use it — as a crease brush — but not in the typical way of a crease brush. He used the 5FS to “push” the crease color just above the socket as a tip for deep-set eyes. On YouTube, search for “Monika Blunder: Naomi Watts Makeup Look Part 1” to see him and the 5FS in action. Thank you so much for such an informative blog on makeup brushes!
