Kose Addiction just released their 15 makeup brush collection, they are of great quality but not easy to get and they can get really expensive if you don’t have direct access to them in Japan.
Since there aren’t many pictures available yet, I will post mine even if I only got 3. At least they will give you an idea of their size. The review will come later on when I have had the chance to experiment with them, I am starting tomorrow ! I have already washed the eye shadow ones, I did not wash the blush brush yet since I wanted to take some pics tonight and was afraid it did no dry before.
I ordered them from CherryCosmetics on July 15th and I received the parcel today July 26th, well, it arrived yesterday but I only could pick it up this morning. It came with a beautiful packaging, and a note. Cherry also sent me the original paper bag and some samples as a gift ! The brushes are expensive but at least you get great service, they kept clear and friendly communication all along. I just wish I did not had to pay so much for the customs taxes !
In the official site, you can see that the handles look more red at the bottom, it is dark red, but you can barely see it.
I thought the Chikuhodo was very similar to the Addiction, but the Chikuhodo is thicker, denser and less pointy, both are AMAZING. The Addiction is slightly firmer. I cannot really tell which one is softer, they are both extremely and insanely soft.
- Rouge Bunny Rouge blusher 002
- Chikuhodo Z-8
- Addiction blush brush
- Chanel 4
The same brushes on their side :
This picture is only for size comparison because these are very different brushes, I don’t have similar brushes in my collection :
- Trish McEvoy 40 Medium Laydown
- Addiction Eye Shadow brush B
- Mac 217
The Mac 239 is similar in size to the Addiction brush S but the Addiction is thinner and firmer.
You can see that the handles are short but they are still quite heavy for their size, they feel solid, elegant, I cannot find any quality issues at all. I haven’t use them yet so I cannot speak about that today….
…I’ll be back soon with more details 🙂

Wow, I wish I had as much makeup brushes and money as you, how do you afford buying all these brushes? I look forward to your review of them!
Hi Jennifer !
Today, I am lucky to have a job that allows me to do it, but it means I have very little free time, I am always preparing for exams and right now I work 10 to 12 hours a day because of some projects, then I come back home and I study… It’s by choice. I don’t go out very often (it’s also by choice), I don’t buy many shoes or clothes.
I also have a few rules : I don’t keep what I don’t use, either I return it if I can, or I swap it or give it away, sometimes I sell it (at purchase price), here in Switzerland I will buy make up only if I have a voucher that helps, ordering make up is less expensive than buying anything here !
I am not here to show off, I thought that since I buy so many things, at least do something useful about it and help and inform whenever I can.
I have been through a lot but today I can enjoy, actually, I think I would rather prefer to have more free time and less stress at work…. anyway, these purchases are like a consolation… 🙂
Drooooooooling!!!
Hey Sonia:)
I had planned to take some Addiction/ Shu comparison pics for you today, but it’s too dark already. I’ll mail you some tommorrow.
Here are the comparison measurements of the Addiction B and the Shu natural # 12.
Total length Shu : 18,5 cm
” ” Addiction: 14,2 cm
Ferrule length both Shu & Addiction: 4,5 cm
Ferrule width both Shu & Addiction : 1,2 cm
Hair length Shu: 1,9 cm
” ” Addiction: 2,1 cm
The hair density of the Addiction is about TWICE that of the Shu. Due to the added suirrel hair I suppose.
I like them both but the Shu 12 just feels better on my eye. Perhaps it’s just because i’m accustomed to using it? I guess need to give this lovely new Addiction brush some attention before i make a decision though:)
Thank you Buggsiebee ! I really appreciate it ! As you can see.. I have been very naughty and ordered more Addiction (the P and the C) …
I will try to find a comparison with the measures you sent me, to see if I really should get the Shu, I love it but it’s so expensive for only 1 brush !!!
I was considering the P too, but I decided to rather jump on the Koyudo ‘Mushroom’ band waggon instead. That has to be one of the most gorgeous little brushes EVER! Thanks for spotting it:)
I have to tell you, I am WAY more excited about my Koyudo than about my Addiction brushes. The Koyudo are such a fun discovery. I LOVE the quality and the variety of colors & design make me want to have them all.
😀 I can’t stop laughting 😀 you are right, a great discovery !
when I saw this mushroom I think I wanted it more than anything !
Buggsiebee, you couldn’t have said it any better: The Koyudo are such a fun discovery! I want them ALL! I can’t wait until my mushroom etc get here! You know cd.japan is wondering how they got so popular 🙂
Stacy
I bet cd.japan are wondering what the heck’s going on with all these orders suddenly pouring in from all over the world for the Mushroom:)
