Suqqu has released this new eyeshadow quint for the summer 2012, it will be part of the permanent line replacing the 01 Kakitsubata, that I don’t own, so I won’t be able to show you both side by side.
I just received this quint today and when I saw it, I was happy and relieved since I was not able to check it out in person before I ordered.
From the first day I discovered Suqqu and since my first Suqqu purchase, I have always been able to wear all the palettes, even when I ordered without seeing them before, I loved the colors and the shade combinations.
The result is always sophisticated, I can go from a very subtle make up application for a day at the office, to a very dramatic and sexy, yet still appropriate for my age, I wish it would carry on like that forever π
If you know me, you know how much I love Suqqu, there is comfort food and there is comfort make up : I will reach for Suqqu.
I am just sharing some swatches today, please have a look at FruityLashes or MaddyΒ posts to have more detailed description of the shades and a great review of the quint.
This is one of my favorite palettes from Suqqu, with bright shades and actually the shades I like the most at this moment… is it because it’s a trend and I see them everywhere or I don’t know, just a coincidence ??
They are silky and extremely pigmented, the taupe shade and the 2 blue shades left a very heavy stain on my arm, and of course I have already tried all the shades and I am 90% satisfied… The 10% remaining would be met if the lightest shade was a less matte, less powdery texture, not that it’s chalky, but I prefer when the powder disappears and doesn’t leave a powdery finish on the skin, but I still like it, I am really being picky here.
I know it’s going to be so easy to use it in the morning rush and still have a fun neutral-ish look with a twist of color and totally wearable for the office.
I haven’t uploaded swatch comparisons yet but if you are curious and interested to see how these shades compare to others, just let me know, if I have them in my collection, I will upload the swatches for you.
UPDATE … here are some additional swatches side by side…
Not the best swatches and you cannot really see a big difference between the lightest shades, the lightest shade in the 12 Konruri is more pink, in the 01 Kakitsubata it’s more yellow. The peach shade in 12 Konruri is definitely more pigmented, more peachy and of better quality.Β The brownish shades are totally different.
I have added another blue swatch on the left, it’s from the palette 08 Mizuaoi.

I was actually suprised to see that Kakitsubata & Konruri are not as similar as one would think. Have you seen this TOP comparison of the two:-

I’m still holding off, but It made me feel like I need both:(
Hi Buggsiebee, thank you so much for this great link ! I hadn’t seen it !
Well… you know what ? I do own Kakitsubata ! I just could not find it anymore !!! I was cleaning my make up bag and my handbag this morning and it was there … but I did not think about this palette as a dupe at all and the thing with the Japanese names is that I cannot remember which ones I own π sad I know… These last weeks have been hell at work, I was throwing make up palettes in my bag for the day and I ended with a very heavy handbag that I needed to clear urgently.
Anyway, I will upload swatch comparisons later today.
I can tell you something already, to me these two are not dupes, and some shades neither close.
The only similar is the dark blue. The new palette is much much more interesting, in texture, color, lasting power, etc… Maybe you have dupes of the Konruri at home but you could not say that the 12 replaces the 01 as a dupe, as a better one yes, but not as a dupe. I will take better pictures later on, will ask my boyfriend to help with the focus, I couldn’t even take clear pictures of the swatches !!!! silly me π
Look here…..:))))))))))))))

eeeeeeeeekkk *dead* thank you π 86 ?????
Hey Hakuhodo …..DON’T mess with Sonia!!!
90 is NOT 86 !!
WHERE are the missing 4 brushes?!!
π π π I just can’t stop π π π
oh dear… it’s gonna hurt… bad..
oh by the way… sorry about the bad swatches, will try to make them again with better lighting during the week…
The swatches AREN’T bad!!! Don’t be so critical of yourself.
The only thing which is bad about them is that they make me want to get the Konruri and if you could see my Hakuhodo shopping list ( which is getting longer by the second ) you will know that wanting another SUQQU palette right now is NOT a good thing.
And…….perhaps I ‘forgot’ to mention that I have a Tom Ford bronzer on the way:) Your fault!
Thank you π we also have just realized we have a small problem with the camera… it’s not performing it’s best, we will try to fix it soon.
Today I created a look with the Konruri: the peach in the inner third of the lid, the taupe on the other 2 thirds and a tiny bit in the crease, the dark blue lightly in the crease plus outer v and as a liner, then on the lower lid the YSL dark navy waterproof liner smudged and blended with the Suqqu purple-blue, the light matte pink in the browbone and to define a bit more, a very very thin nearly invisible line of black gel eyeliner in the root of the lashes. The gradient effect of the peach-taupe-blue is gorgeous and I love the final result ! I am so sorry, but I confirm this is one of my favorite Suqqu palettes indeed !
oooh please let me know what you think about the bronzer, I still love it so far and I am happy with it, I reach only for this one at the moment.
Well you made me order a LOT of Kose Addiction… Tied match π
Thanks for the inspiration:)
Today I copied your look – but with Kakitsubata!
My TF bronzerS ( I just couldn’t decide which to get & I figured I might as well make the heavy shipping fee worthwhile & pop a few more goodies in the parcel ) arrived this morning & they are GORGEOUS!! They are so finely milled that I see absolutely NO powder on my skin after application – just a subtle golden glow. GREAT stuff!!
Another excellent tip. THANK you!!
you are welcome ! I am so happy you love the bronzerS and that was a fast delivery !
Do you like the Gold Dust one ? are they any obvious sparkles left on the skin after application ? which one do you prefer ? Sorry.. I am really interested in the difference and your opinion π thank you !
I agree…..ordered on 04.07 & arrived today a.m. = not bad from the UK!
I like both – a LOT!!
The Terra is def the browner of the two.
I like the Guerlain Terra Azzurra and Gold dust is less orange than Terra Azzura if tha’s your concern.
As far as sparkles are concerned….with the naked eye I see only a shimmer/ glow.
If I look in my X10 mirror I see the sparkles π
When I swatched the colors on my arm TF Gold Dust was just as shimmery as the dark shades of the Burberry Sheer summer Glow highlighting compact. So you see….it’s def NOT bling bling brassy face!
The Gold dust is also noteably more pigmented than the Terra. I find the Terra = Nars Zen colorwise?
I’m a MAC NC25 with more yellow undertones if that helps?
Best you put the Tom Ford counter on your LONG list of ‘things to do’ while you’re in London:)
Lucky you!!!
Thank you so much for the great detailed info, it’s so helpful ! But you are right, I will certainly stop at the TF counter anyway !
A long list of products to check and questions to ask… I am not going there often now so my London task list is exciting but getting out of control π
You are both killing me!! My wants have now become needs! btw Sonia your swatches are always excellent! I am still waiting for my RMK order to show up…. Not as expedient as Buggsiebee’s for sure!
Stacy
Waiting, waiting & waiting on deliveries REALLY tries my patience too Stacy. I think you said ordered from BeautyBay? In my experience their shipping times have normally been pretty speedy so I’m sure your RMK goodies will be with you soon:)
This morning , using daylight I compared the NARS Zen & TF Terra again and although they look super similar in the pan, when swatched the TF is definitely more of a pinky brown. In comparison to both the Zen and the Gold Dust, the TF Terra has the least pigmentation. There’s no chance of overdoing the application of this bronzer!
Allright Sonia and Buggsiebee I think I am going to need help with my Hakuhodo shopping list!!!!!
Stacy
You don’t know which ones to try π ?
I have a huge list, I have to narrow it down dramatically… π
Yes, I need help (in so many ways π ) I am overwhelmed but would like to choose the best of the best…..
Stacy
Hi Stacy!
I think that I probably need REAL ‘help’ with my insatiable quest for brushes:))
My love didn’t start with make up brushes but with art brushes. I don’t find time to paint so I paint my face instead I guess. It’s probably not a healthy hobby AND it’s definitely NOT bank balance friendly:))
I totally understand Stacy ! same for me π
It depends what your make up routine is and what you will be using the most and needing the most.
On my side I am looking for very dense brushes, maybe like J214, mainly for blending or also applying base, then I need a thick eyebrow brush, some thick mix goat-synthetic for cream shadows, a tightline brush, etc… I use a lot of cream blushes or cream shadows and these goat brushes are so what I wanted !
What hurts is that the J series is the kind of series I need the most and I don’t think I have similar ones…
This weekend I will measuring the ones I have, making a sort of “inventory” of what I need and checking the size in the Hakuhodo website to see if that corresponds, I hope this will narrow down my list… will let you know.
I have printed the Hakuhodo page and it’s covered with drool π
