Kose Addiction – first impressions

by Sonia G.

It’s the first time that I try Kose Addiction make up. Thanks to a sweet follower “Buggsiebee” who recommended this brand to me, I decided to finally splurge. A follow up review will be uploaded next week, together with other Kose Addiction product swatches I will receive during the week.

I also would like to review and compare Kose, RMK, Shu and Suqqu all together… but today, I just wanted to thank Buggsiebee, show you some swatches of the products I just received and briefly tell you my first impressions.

These are the eye shadows I ordered :

Sandbar – Truffle – Flash Back

Sandbar is one of the most beautiful all-over wash color I own today. Flash Back is calling all the taupe lovers… a great hit.

Two days ago, I applied Sandbar on top of the Eye Laquer in Tortoiseshell, with Truffle in the crease and Rabbit Hole as a liner. It lasted during my 14 hours shift at work and beyond… amazing lasting power, texture and colors, they are complex and pigmented, I love them but I will see how they perform during this week, I don’t think my opinion will change anyway.

The blush I ordered is called “Revenge”. I have a big crush on red-ish blushes, I already have some of them, Dolce Gabbana, Shu Uemura, Nars, etc . This one melts on the skin when you apply it, the finish is more like a stain, you cannot see powder on the cheeks, just the color and some subtle shine. The product feels a bit hard to pick up with a brush, I don’t know if this is normal. I will update you in my follow up review. The result is really natural … It’s a vibrant flush with some glow.

This is the eye laquer in Tortoiseshell, it reminds me a lot of Laura Mercier Cream in Cocoa Velour, I love smooth creamy bases like these two, I apply them near the lash line and then blend upwards… then I apply an eyeshadow on top, either matte or any other powder texture. It lasts forever, I will review everything more in depth when I receive the next items,  I would love to have at least two items of each to check the consistency.

Eye Laquer TortoiseShell

Here is a quick swatch of everything together. The eyeliner in Rabbit Hole is the most long-lasting eyeliner I have ever tried. The texture also seems to be one of the best, still need to check this but it really looks like it’s a future HG candidate. If you blend it, it provides a very smooth and regular blended base for example.

I will be back next week with more Kose Addiction swatches and my follow up review.

Have you tried this brand already and have you any other eyeshadow recommendations ?

Hi Emily 🙂
It was ordered at ichibankao.com
I believe they ship worldwide and the shipping is not expensive at all, but Kose Addiction items are very expensive unfortunately 🙁

Just realized online stores are selling RMK and Addiction at a mark up price of 30-40%! So what’s expensive is now super expensive.
🙁

Bad Buggsiebee!! Sorry to have addicted you:(
I have a wicked obsession for products which are not readily available – especially for blushes & brushes.

Although Rabbit Hole is described as charcoal, it looks more brown than black in your swatch. Is it in fact more brown or does the photo just make it appear that way? I ask because I really like the sound of it but I just can’t do black on my eyes any more.

Just by the way…the shop I ordered most of my Kose Addiction items from is http://mihokoshop.3dcartstores.com/ .

HAPPY me…….I received my RMK blushes;)) What a great tip! I doubt that I would ever have tried them without your recommendation & that would have been a great loss for a blush-a-holic!!
The texture is really SUPER finely milled & melds perfectly into my skin. The delicate shimmer is just perfect. My fave is the P-10 Holo coral Pink and the Mix # 02 in Coral. They give my post party- weekend face a much needed lift:) THANK you & happy Monday!

I now have a shopping cart at Beauty Bay with RMK blushes and one full of Kose Addiction at Mihoko (seams the prices at Mihoko and Ichibankao are the same).
I too thank you for the great tips! I would have tried either line without your recommendations ! xo Stacy

Again, thank you so much ! I am happy that I tried it and that you shared this info ! I know you love the best quality products !
Rabbit Hole is dark brown, similar color than Chantecaille Gel liner in Espresso, same texture, same blending, but Rabbit Hole has a greater lasting power.
Rabbit Hole is darker than BB creamy eye pencil in Caviar (I have the double sided).
It’s definitely not black. I totally see what you mean, it will be perfect for you if you like dark brown but not black.
Thanks for letting me know about RMK, I just ordered the P-10 a few days ago, fantastic !
These RMK are precious little gems !!!
Happy Monday to you too ! 🙂

Got to LOVE great lasting power!!
I think I’ll order Rabbit Hole along with a couple of the Addiction brushes once they hit the shelves. Here’s hoping that one of these stores will carry the brushes! I’m interested in the highlighter brush and I know that the blush brush will land in my basket:)

I assume that you’ve seen these fantastic swatches, but just in case you missed them, here are links to some very tempting Addiction swatches on one of the most excellent blogs around.

I’m looking forward to hearing more about this brand Sonia, I haven’t heard too much about Kose but from the swatches it looks really nice!
