The day I was the most impressed with a make up application was the day I had my make up done at a Tom Ford counter in Harrods. I went from the most exhausted looking face to the most glamourous look in about half an hour, my addiction to Tom Ford began that same day.
Tom Ford is a powerful man, I love his range. The first time I heard about his make up launch, I could not wait to fly to London and see it by myself, I did my best to schedule a business trip as soon as possible and I rushed to the TF counter.
First thing I saw from far far away : the blushes. They were hanging in the counter glowing and shouting my name 😀
My first impression : I thought I could never wear them !
I was afraid to get close to them, I was fearing disappointment. I tried to get a bit closer and wanted to swatch them… but the people working there were so pushy that I just wanted to leave…
I tried again at another TF counter, this time it was even worst. I like to be left alone for a little while and only go talk to them when it’s time 🙂 this sounds weird but I am not an awful person, just need a little time to think, on my own.
My last try was finally the one, I ended at the Harrods TF counter and they were amazing. I loved their attitude and I even stayed for a full face make up application.
The blushes are very pigmented, but buildable. If the application is sheer then the result is just a soft glow as you can see in the swatches, you can build them for a more dramatic result or you can mix them. The formula is one of the best I ever came across. The powder feels really creamy and the most important thing : they last all day.
I thought they would be too shimmery since you can see the tiny sparkles, in fact they provide more of a glow than a sparkly-shimmer finish, they are wearable for the day but they are not matte, if you are looking for a matte finish, don’t get these.
I am NW25-30 at the moment, the most “natural” shade for me is Ravish. I use Frantic Pink as a highlighter. Flush is the sexiest of them all, I love it. The sheer glow of Wicked is mesmerizing and Love Lust is a great shade for the day.
Here are some swatches of the ones I own, I do not own the one called Savage, I will try it again during my next trip but it looks too dark for my skintone so I don’t think this one is for me anyway.
I am really impressed with these blushes, yes they are expensive but luxury has a price and to be honest, they are worth it.
The amount of product a TF blush contains is 8g for 45Gbp, expensive, yes, but an Edward Bess blush has only 3.5g for 36Gbp, and Edward Bess blush packaging does not feel luxurious at all in comparaison.
I am often asked what I think of the Tom Ford blushes… LOVE ! I also love the eyeshadows but that will come in a separate post 🙂
