The Power of Makeup, my thoughts
When I started to be seriously interested in makeup and beauty products I never thought it would come with the whole package : new amazing friends, new creativity challenges and more fun, but sometimes telling your friends you are passionate about makeup can be seen as “inappropriate for your age“, “shallow“, or “pointless“, I had this kind of conversation more than once :

There is a sudden embarrassing silence, then I stop their agony and change subject before they have a stroke… Maybe I don’t match the “beauty model magazine” standards, or can you not enjoy makeup after you reached a certain age ?? Ok, I don’t wear a killer smokey eye on a daily basis but make up is not only intended for runways or movies and it’s not only meant to make you look fake and superficial, I just want to have fun and use it to make me look healthier, glamorous, yet natural.
I receive many emails from women in their 40+ who would like to start using make up but who just don’t know where to start. Unfortunately I am no professional, all I know I got it from talking to make up artists or to sales assistants at the beauty counters, getting advice from Youtube gurus and watching nice and useful videos so if I can manage a nice make up look, you definitely can.
My needs were different some years ago, now I focus more on anti-ageing tutorials and products more adapted to mature skin. It depends what you are expecting from makeup, just make you feel better ? more confident ? younger ? fresher ? desirable ? or just conceal a few flaws ? Lisa Eldridge gives great advice on her channel so just try Youtube and search for what you want to do and try it for yourself. Tammy is a sweetheart, I just recently discovered her channel, I can’t believe I didn’t see it before, a great resource for anti-ageing advice and she is so fun to watch. If you know of any other gurus that give anti-ageing tips, please share !
I will be 42 in 2 weeks therefore today I am simply trying to achieve an enhanced version of me, a fresher and healthier one, exactly like Wayne says here. I cannot pull off strong and heavy makeup looks at my age but I can still look sexy with a smokey eye, there is a beautiful and hot smokey eye for everyone, it’s just a matter of getting to know your features, choosing the appropriate products for you and using efficient make up tools also helps a lot, it takes time but it’s so worth it.
Guerlain Terracotta Nude 00
I was seriously contemplating this Terracotta at the beauty counters in Geneva and I knew I was going to buy it, just needed some kind of price reduction to push me. During my last trip to Sephora in France I managed to get it for half of the Swiss price with my additional 20% reduction… Which isn’t bad at all, except that just afterwards I had to stop at the Serge Lutens counter in Geneva and get utterly seduced by their blusher -more of a bronzer for me. At the end I really didn’t do that good did I… The Serge Lutens is still under study and testing but the review will come shortly. Today I’ll show you this Nude 4 Seasons bronzer and for the best informative video about it, please kindly hop to Seth‘s youtube channel.
One info I cannot find is the fragance of this powder, I am not much of a nose and I don’t recognize it, it’s not the same as the Météorites Perles du Paradis and it is similar to the old Blondes Terracotta but I couldn’t tell for sure.

First of all, I find that the violet scent is very strong and a bit too invasive. Maybe it’s going to wear off a bit. If you love the Guerlain scent you will certainly be happy with these.
Guerlain – Ecrin 4 Couleurs “Les Fauves”
Yesterday I noticed that the new Guerlain collection was “already” in the Swiss counters, usually new collections take much much longer to hit Switzerland, I had already ordered 3 of their new duo blushes and I thought it would be enough, but then I saw this palette….
I own nearly all of these Guerlain new quads, overall I am happy with them, usually mostly winner eyeshadows in all quads, with only a few little exceptions.
Guerlain by Emilio Pucci – Terra Azzurra Bronzer & Blush
Guerlain is recently creating products that are real hits. It started with the Blush G Serie Noire and since that day, I always follow closely the new collections, very excited to see what new products will come out but always waiting with trepidation because I know that if I am tempted, it’s gonna cost me… Guerlain is very expensive here and therefore, it can get really scary !
Since the collections in Switzerland come out much later than in the USA, it gives me some time to prepare and check out the online reviews, that’s the only benefit of that huge gap between the release dates !
With this Emilio Pucci collection, this Terra Azzurra Bronzer & Blush is the star of the collection. When I saw it for real I was convinced I had to get it, to me, a must-have. Not only it’s a beautiful piece, but I love the result when I use the bronzer and the blush as two separate products, as opposed to mixed together.
It comes in a pouch with the iconic Emilio Pucci print, I am not really a great fan of this print, I don’t know why, looks a bit old fashioned to me – please don’t throw a stone at me 
– but I like that it comes in a pouch and I think it’s an absolute necessary item to keep your bronzer safe while traveling. You have to align the 3 magnets in order to snap it closed, it closes quite firmly but I would not carry it without the appropriate pouch to protect it.
I like how this kind of objects can look amazing and intriguing on the dresser, the outer case pays tribute to the paneling of a Riva yacht with an ebony-colored varnished wood.
Guerlain Sun in the City Summer 2012 – Terracotta Sun Shimmer blush
Guerlain’s Summer 2012 collection just made it to Switzerland this week, I believe this is almost one month after it was released in the USA. I often order my products from the USA as soon as they are available but since I did not know what Guerlain was capable of when it comes to liquid blushes I just waited…
When I saw them in person, I fell in love with the Sunny Pink immediately, a warm pink with tiny gold shimmer. They say this shade is more suitable for fair skin.
The lasting power of these liquid blushes is very good, you can blend them so that you have a very subtle color or you can build the color, either way you will still see the tiny sparkles. After using the pink blush for a few days… I went to get the other shade : Spicy Coral, this shade is an orange’ish’ coral on my skin, reminds me of Nars Taj Mahal, that I love and actually they are extremely close when swatched side by side.

About the application :
TERRACOTTA BLUSH is applied in circular movements directly on golden skin or on top of Terracotta powder, lightly tapping with the fingertips.
The smell is nice, not heavy at all and I apply the blush with a brush and not my fingers, you can use your fingers since it blends very well but because of the pigmentation I don’t want to touch the product with my hands, I am afraid to touch my clothes by accident and stain them.
Do I look like I am glowing from within ? Yes, I think, I took a picture to show you the pink blush on my cheeks but you can’t really see the color, you can see the gold sparkles though.
Would you like some cream in your Highlighter ?
When I started to use make up, I did not even know what a highlighter was, I discovered highlighters only 2 years ago but since then, I use them on a daily basis, either in a subtle way for a day at work or more dramatic for other evening events or parties.
I love both powder and cream highlighters but due to my very dry skin I tend to use the cream ones more often. They also make it more easy to travel with since they are not powder, they will not shatter and you can just keep them in your checked luggage.
I find cream highlighters more long lasting and that is also why I would pick a cream over a powder one.
Whatever your reason is, everyone should give them a try as they really deliver !
