Guerlain – Ecrin 4 Couleurs “Les Fauves”
Yesterday I noticed that the new Guerlain collection was “already” in the Swiss counters, usually new collections take much much longer to hit Switzerland, I had already ordered 3 of their new duo blushes and I thought it would be enough, but then I saw this palette….
I own nearly all of these Guerlain new quads, overall I am happy with them, usually mostly winner eyeshadows in all quads, with only a few little exceptions.
This new one couldn’t be more me. I bought it together with one of the duo blushes that I had not already ordered, the Red Hot Rose aux Joues.
I used both items today of course, even if I had to travel by motorbike to a far far away garage, on the worst day you could ever imagine : fog and heavy rain all along, I just had to try them. Guess what ? In the way to the garage I stopped at the post office to pick up my Koyudo brushes, finally ! They know me there because of all the little parcels I receive but it’s also a very very small village, we chatted for a while and they told I was being very brave and crazy to ride a motorcycle with this weather but I didn’t had the choice, so to the point… even after many kilometers under heavy weather conditions and 6 hours of wear, my eye makeup is still there and still looking fresh, the blush has been sheered out but you can still see it a little bit.
I found the blush powder to be very difficult to pick up with soft brushes but if I apply it with the little white Rae Morris kabukis that are more firm (firmer than the Nars Yachiyo for example) then it works perfectly well together.
I applied the eyeshadows with my Addiction brushes, I will tell you a little bit more about them in the Addiction brush post that will be uploaded later on today. The texture and pigmentation of the eyeshadows is good, two shimmery and two near matte finish, this orange is actually flattering on my eyelids and if I take only this palette on holiday, I could also use this orange shade as a blush, it looks gorgeous !
Do you remember when I wanted to wear Louise Young’s brick red but I wished it was more luminous ? This is it, this is the warm shade I was looking for to wear on my eyes.
I wore all the shades of this palette but with Burberry Porcelain as an all-over base (and browbone) and a black eyeshadow on the outer V and very very thin black liner. I felt like I needed more definition with these warm colors. I love the result so much that I am considering taking this palette with me on holiday, this means a lot because I will be travelling by motorbike and I don’t have much space for luggage !
I was surprised how well these shades go with my hair, my eyes (dark olive-brown) and my skin (NW25), I have cool undertones but somebody told me that I also had warm undertones… oh well, I don’t really care about that, I am always tempted to buy beautiful colors and only afterwards realize they are not meant for me. Luckily this works, and I am relieved because I love it !
