Ellis Faas… some swatches and my thoughts

When I first saw this brand I thought it was a brilliant and fun idea, I love it when brands create a different packaging design… as long as it works.  With time I got a bit upset with the Ellis Faas packaging because I love the colors and the texture but it’s a pain for me to use the pens on a daily basis. I’ll explain why later on.

Apart from the face powder, all the Ellis Faas products are fluids and kept inside pens or “bullets”, the texture is more or less liquid and melts into the skin. Ellis Faas says that all her shades are inspired by the human body’s owns colors and are universal.

I actually love ALL the colors of her range, there is no doubt that the quality of the product is good and that the lasting power, which is important for me, is also extremely good.

I will show you some swatches below but for more information about the brand you can check out their website  you will find videos and lots of information about the brand.

RMK Mix Colors for Cheeks – Holy Grail Alert

I have just recently posted about Tom Ford, Burberry, Edward Bess and Suqqu blushes and I feel like I am cheating on my favorite and Holy Grail blushes…  :P

I need to very briefly talk about these RMK and give them the post they deserve. It’s going to be quick : I urge you to try them.

The RMK Mix Colors for Cheeks are my favorite blushes, ever. There is no other blush that I love more.
They are easy to travel with and have a nice large mirror.
They are so incredibly pigmented and glowy, the texture is like silk, it’s very easy to pick up the product with the brush and to blend it,  you can use each shade separately, 2 or 3 swirled together, you can also use them on the eyes…  The combinations are gorgeous. The lasting power is out of this world.

Burberry Beauty – Light Glow Natural Blushes and the Highlighting compact

Imagine you love a brand, then imagine they launch a beauty line … exciting !

I own just a few Burberry items, my favorite being this embossed Equestrian Knight handbag that I got in a Burberry outlet, still, the most expensive handbag I ever bought…

The Burberry make up line entirely reflects the spirit of the brand, luxurious and elegant. It’s not easily accessible in Europe, so you might not have heard of it yet, be warned, they are good.
Christopher Bailey, Burberry’s Chief Creative Officer, says that the philosophy behind this make up line is more about enhancing your own beauty than covering your skin.

Tom Ford blushes

The day I was the most impressed with a make up application was the day I had my make up done at a Tom Ford counter in Harrods. I went from the most exhausted looking face to the most glamourous look in about half an hour, my addiction to Tom Ford began that same day.

Tom Ford is a powerful man, I love his range. The first time I heard about his make up launch, I could not wait to fly to London and see it by myself, I did my best to schedule a business trip as soon as possible and I rushed to the TF counter.

First thing I saw from far far away : the blushes. They were hanging in the counter glowing and shouting my name :D
My first impression : I thought I could never wear them !

I was afraid to get close to them, I was fearing disappointment. I tried to get a bit closer and wanted to swatch them… but the people working there were so pushy that I  just wanted to leave…

I tried again at another TF counter,  this time it was even worst. I like to be left alone for a little while and only go talk to them when it’s time :)  this sounds weird but I am not an awful person, just need a little time to think, on my own.

My last try was finally the one, I ended at the Harrods TF counter and they were amazing. I loved their attitude and I even stayed for a full face make up application.

My thoughts on Edward Bess

Edward Bess…. well, first of all, I love men with beautiful long hair so he already scored a point there.  He knows what he is talking about, he scored again.

He made the right move when he decided to launch his own line of products, he most certainly brings to life the concept of  ”less is more”.

Since I am a make up lover, in the morning I play with make up… a lot. When I am ready to leave home, sometimes my boyfriend, with his beautiful shiny long blond hair… :D  tells me “Are you sure you have enough make up on???”  I can assure you that when he says that, that’s not good… it means it looks “too much”, not appropriate, too cakey or too fake. Unfortunately it does happen sometimes and he is right. With Edward Bess, surprisingly, he never comments, no comment = boyfriend happy. That’s simply how it goes.

EB started by creating his lipstick range in 2006, then in 2010 he launched the face and eye products.
The first time I heard of this brand it was via Makeupalley. Many were raving about his eyeshadows or his bronzer and after checking out the products, I ordered a few of them. My collection grew and today I can show you some of the EB products with a few swatches.

The colors are not that unique, but the results are fantastic.

I will not list you all the products he is currently selling because this could change but you can find his product range on his web site, in Sephora, Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, Zuneta and probably in more online shops.

Laura Mercier Metallic and Satinee Creme eye coulours

Waterproof… blend like a dream… crease resistant… light-weight… buildable… gorgeous colors… These Laura Mercier creme eye colors are PERFECT.

You can find them in two formulas, “Metallic” and “Satinée”. I prefer the satinée formula for my eyelids since they suit me much better. If you set the metallic ones with a powder shadow it will either help minimize the metallic shine, or, enhance the intensity of the powder eyeshadow, but you don’t even need to set them if you don’t want to, on my eyelids, they don’t crease at all !

Les Expressions de Chanel – Illusion d’Ombre 88 Abstraction

What a week…  in one word  “Abstraction” would quite well define it. Too many things happened, terribly good and pretty bad, I had to fight really hard to stay focused at work and I just couldn’t win the battle.

I saw this Illusion d’Ombre by accident today, I don’t even know how I managed to see it, I was trying to get back home, kind of zombie-style walking, … by the way, I loved “Shawn of the Dead” so if you ever want to watch a silly but super funny movie just go ahead with this one… :P

Sorry… to the point… :)

Chanel is launching a new collection, “Les Expressions de Chanel” for Summer 2012. In this collection there are many items, some are new and some are repromoted, you can have a look at the Chanel collection pictures in this post.

Today I got the Illusion d’Ombre in number 88 “Abstraction”, I was very tempted to also get the gold one called “Vision” but I have way too many glitter shadows in my Tom Ford quads that I need to use and that are gorgeous, I did not feel like I needed more glitter but it’s actually really beautiful too and I see many of you splurging on both of them !

BeautyObsessed has a very funny post and review of this Illusion d’Ombre in Abstraction, you can read it here, she has nice close-up pictures and swatches too.

Le Metier de Beaute kaleidoscopes – The Blush and The Chauvet Pont d’Arc

Thanks to my dear friend Cindy from “A Girl’s Guide to Makeup“  I was informed that a new kaleidoscope was out… the “Chauvet Pont d’Arc“, in her post, she also informs us of a 10% code here so go check it out ! Cindy is my “precious kaleidoscope provider“, she always manages to get her hands on the rarest kaleidoscopes and she never forgets me !

A few weeks ago, I visited the Caverns of Vallorbe, don’t be surprised if you never heard of them, they are located in a small town in the Swiss Jura. This Chauvet kaleidoscope reminded me of these beautiful Caverns, same rock colors and the water is exactly the same color as the teal on the 4th layer of the kaleidoscope. However, “Chauvet Pont d’Arc” is a prehistoric cave in France and not a cavern… I don’t see any teal in the animal drawings discovered in that cave…  but there’s certainly a reason…  so let’s go to the point :)

Today, I just wanted to post some swatches and tell you about that 10% code that Cindy posted, I will update this post during the weekend as soon as I played with them and tried the application.

I ordered them from Zuneta, the code gave me a 10% on both kaleidoscopes, since I also wanted the blush kit, I have placed my order for both kits on the 12th of June. On the 13th, the parcel was already at my door… I selected “Europe Economy” and usually it takes 5 to 10 days… instead it took 24 hours…  is that even possible ????
